I grew up running free and wild in the mountains of North Carolina, barefoot didn't have a care in the world. I think everything in life God uses to teach you mold you and grow you to whom he wants you to be. I'm proud to say I grew up climbing trees jumping in ponds hiking the mountains and running free and running wild! I'm at home and the backwoods and the hollows as well as the big cities. God used all of it to molds, shape and grow me. And I wouldn't trade 1 minute off it. It has taught me so much and I've learned so much. But above everything I've learned to be humble and proud of my upbringing which taught me how to be self-sustaining and take care of myself and others should the time ever arise. I learned how to care for myself and others. I am truly blessed by God and proud!

Loved hearing your life story. I was brought up the same way. The place that I grew up in was just a dot on the map. I am a Va. girl and I wouldn't take anything for growing up the way I did. I came to know the Lord at a young age. No turning back, no turning back.

Sad hearing Winston upset in the van. Y'all need to get him a soft side dog pen he can sit outside with you and play! He is not ready to be 15! You can get one that folds up real small and it doesn't take up much room. Thank you @fridaysforever

I noticed that you grew up not far from Inman virginia. I learned over memorial weekend my dad was born in Inman virg. In 1921, my grandfather worked the coal mines then. They moved back to Dayton ohio.

Karen, have you read the Big Stone Gap series if books by Adriana Trigiani? I liked the books, but not the movie. I have family in Rose Hill, VA and have always loved that whole area. You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work!

Mostly from our property in East Tn. You can also buy them from Blackstone website.

We love Jessie Lee campground, I believe the original owner just passed away a year or so ago. He was there last time we were there, he was a carver and did the carvings in the trees, very nice man. We have family in big stone, my father in law is from there. Cool little town. Enjoying watching your adventures.
I was born and raised in Middlesboro, Kentucky. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Like many small towns, we cruised around town when I was in High School. That was the extent of our fun, just driving around. The Civic Center, out on 30th Street, has a swimming pool where we would go swimming every summer. I loved to hike the trails at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.

I grew up in a small town in Eastern Ky Paintsville. It’s about 90 miles from Big Stone Gap, just out of Pikeville about 30 miles. Love all your camping videos and love watching you cook on your blackstone.
