Wow! The best and most honest explanation I have seen so far. YOU NEED to keep doing these videos please! As a normal sewer who is considering transitioning to her first industrial sewing machine soon, I was really looking for this comparison of these two exact models. You really helped me understand the difference and what I need to choose based on my needs. I have a Janome sewing machine right now that I use for normal every day use. It does well with jeans and such but of course not to this industrial degree. I'm seriously considering the 1181 because I don't want to keep changing out the plates and needles and I already have my Janome for the regular stuff. I am considering upholstery work and would love to sew hand bags someday as well.
You can find 8700's all over the place used because it is a drop feed, which is fine for people that know how to sew well, it is your basic bitch sewing machine. The 1181 is the mistress that makes work fun by having both a top and bottom feed so the locking stitch is in the middle of the fabric every time.
What is the largest size thread that you can use with the Juki DDL8700? Can you use a Tex 92 if you put a large needle in the machine? I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.
I have been quilting on a PQ 1500SL, but I have been eyeing the 8700. I’m looking for a throat space larger than the 8 1/2 X 6 my PQ has. Also, will I be able to drop the feed and use free hand? Thank you in advance
Hello, with the. Sewing machine JUKI DU1181N Walking foot. Can I work with canvas fabric, drill fabric and sport clothes like leggings? In advance thanks for your help.
Hello. Thanks so much for a very informative video. I'm currently shopping for a juki and the two that interest me the most are juki ddl 9000b, and this walking foot juki du 1181n. Hopefully one day I will buy both, but for now I need a machine that can sew thick cording with ease for upholstery. Can you please recommend which machine is ideal for that job. Thanks in advance! :)
So if i change the DDL 870 needle, plate and put a walking foot on that machine it is good to work on heavy material as canvas leather and thick quilts with no problem everyday use?
He said in the video YES. It's an all purpose machine with the inconvenience of switching out everything to accommodate the type of material you're sewing. If you don't have a straight machine already and you want to cover ALL materials, 8700 is a good one to have to so you don't have to buy multiple machines. Since I already have a straight normal sewing machine, I only need a tough machine for heavy things like canvas, upholstery fabric, leather, vinyl and etc. So for me, I would invest in the 1181N because I don't want to get rid of my straight stitch machine and I also don't want to keep switching out a bunch of things. I'm OK with this decision.
He explains details on his video but once you buy from the Owner David of this company the service stops. Nothing in his video was what I received when I ordered a product. When I called for help he kept putting me off for over 6 months with every excuse and then refused to return my texts or messages. This has been the worse purchase I have ever made. Many of his machines can be purchased from many companies so pick a company that will take care of you after the sale. My experience has been this company will not. And for this big of a purchase you will need post sale help.
These GoldStar videos are the place to go for no bias, no nonsense straight info
