So interesting to learn this history. Thanks! I recently ordered a Roland Lucina. Can't wait to receive it as it'll be my first keytar. Now that I know it's one of your favourites, I'm even more excited to get it!
It's nice to see the keytar having its comeback, because there is so many possibilites you can do with it either it's a fully-fledged synthesizer or just a MIDI controller, that has basically infinite options of sounds. And from personal experience I totally love my hot red Alesis Vortex Wireless 2, because it's just crazy, how you can jam the living crap out of it.
Great video and totally wowed that the conception of the keytar was way back in 1795. Looking through TH-cam I saw some amazing pink Floyd guitar solos from comfortably numb played on keytar and must admit to being totally smitten. Being a keyboard player foremost also wanting to crack playing a real guitar too. But yes Keytar is in the plan to add to my studio🖤
Thats awsome man 😃 Bringing the Keytar to a live set or a production brings a whole new dimension to the act/recording. And I was also shocked by the fact that the Keytar was introduced that early 😃😃😃
This is quite fascinating. Who would have thought that the earliest form of the keytar was dated back in 1795. I can see how that was innovative for its time. And all the other instruments predating the keytars were pretty cool. My brother own keytars made by Roland and Yamaha. He bring one of them to open jams one night and it was totally awesome. Anywho, this is a pretty cool video, Glenn. It’s fascinating to learn about the history of keytars.
Thank you so much for watching 😃 I also bring my Keytar to Jan sessions and rock the place 🤘😃🤘 It’s so cool to act like an guitarist, and still play my keys 😃😃😃
@@GlennMainMusic indeed…not to mention how phenomenal and underrated they can be. They’re truly unique instruments. I would totally get one myself. My choices would definitely be the Korg rk-100s2 or the Alesis vortex. Both killer sounding keytars 😎 🎹 🎸
Wow great lesson today. I never knew the keytar went all the way back to the late 1700 I still have my Roland SH 101 I bought back in 83, the blue edition. Roland's new Edge looks so freaking cool. I have a plan building in a Korg Monotron into a guitar😊but that's not a keytar after all. So great to watch your collection Glenn👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Aldo don't forget that the Keytar came from the Accordion because the Accordion is simply a Mini Reed Organ Worn On Straps which allowed Pianists to play Standing up. The Keytar allowed Pianists to do the same thing.
Yes he did :) There were actually many great artists that made the Keytar famous, but I couldn’t include everyone. Stevie Wonder used(and stil use) the Roland Ax :) And he had several others too 😃😃😃

That’s awesome :) I use my Lucina every weekend on gigs .. and just love it 😃😃
That was a really cool collection of keytars you have there Glenn....hmmmm, I think I'll run to the shop and buy one right away 🎸🎹🎵✌
Thanx man ;) Yes I’m a collector 🤣 I have too many.. but it’s because I don’t have the heart to sell anything 🤣🤣
Great video, I loved my Yamaha KX5 back in the day! 😎
Thank you :) Yes , the Yamaha was great ;) Could you also Connect the breath control as well ?

I do so agree with you :-) The keytar is the coolest thing a keyboard player can do live :-) Love to jam with it as well
Let's not forget Roger Powell and his "Powell Probe" from 1976
Oh yes :) It is in the “collection picture” in the video :)
Thanks for this very interesting and informative video! I did get to see Edgar Winter play keytar with his brother Johnny.
Wow , that’s awesome 😃😃 Thank you 😃

My pleasure :-) Thanx for watching 🙂
Great history! I'm in love with my rk100s, I've had a half dozen others, but the rk is a joy to play
Agreed 👍 It’s a beauty, and I love the woodwork on it and the shape :) Nit to mention the great synth engine inside 😃😃
Wow great lesson today. I never knew the keytar went all the way back to the late 1700

So nice that you have the SH101 :) I was so happy when Behringer released the “copy”… Let me know when you have built your Keytar 😃😃😃😃
Keytar Kris is very much pleased! Awesome documentary!

Yes, it is :-)
wow !!!1795? this is pretty cool to know!
Yes, I did not know that myself before I made some research for this video ;) It must have been a heavy Keytar though 🤣
beautiful !!!
Thanks 😊😃😃
Are you using the same studio as Espen Kraft or it just happens to look similar?
😃 Both Espen and I have the same “attic studio” and yes , it looks very much the same 😃😃😃
Cool video, my dude 👍🏻🆒😉!
Thanx 😃😃
A great video!!
Thank you 😊
It would be great to get your hands on JMJ's custom made keytars from the 80s and 90s, especially the LAG Insecte!
Oh yes, that would be awesome 😃🤘😃
I've been hunting all my life for a Yamaha KX1.
Oh yes.. that’s not an easy Keytar to get a hold of 🤘😃
I am surprised that you did not mention the guy from the band cameo.
It’s not possible to mention all Keytar players 😃😃😃
It’s not possible to mention all the Keytar players 😃😃😃😃
Great Tks you forgot the roland sh?
Ops…. That is true.. 🙈🙈 I do have the Behringer clone of it, so that was my bad to not mention room that super synth 😃🙈
Didn’t Stevle Wonder also make the keytar famous?
Yes he did :) There were actually many great artists that made the Keytar famous, but I couldn’t include everyone. Stevie Wonder used(and stil use) the Roland Ax :) And he had several others too 😃😃😃
Korg and Casio az1 most style keytars as my mind.
Yes , they were great ;) Also the Ploy 800 was a little synth monster Keytar as well ;)
the tubon was made the year i was born
😃😃😃
