I've been a fan of Rantanen since the 2016 U20 world championship where Finland won the gold medal. We had so many great up-and-coming players in that team. Rantanen, Aho, Laine, Puljujärvi, Hintz, Kapanen, etc. Some of them have been very unlucky in terms of how their careers turned out in recent years, especially Laine and Puljujärvi. But it's great to see someone like Rantanen shape into one of the best players in the world, improving year after year, and even winning the Stanley Cup.
@@imonoke7903That's not what people mean when they say underrated. Clearly the players agents and team management know how valuable their players are on the market, when they are talking their contracts. Which sometimes ends up being either team friendly contract or over payment (could be because of other contacts, player had a career year etc.).
@@imonoke7903 underrated doesn't always mean money. Usually when people say someone is underrated player they mean that he is underrated by media and hockey fans who don't follow the specific player and don't know much about him.
He will always stay in the shadow, thanks to the nationality and the fact that he is playing in the same team with two even bigger stars. The shot and playmaking ability is elite class. Speed might be limiting factor later on, but he will likely stay productive until the end of his career since the shot and playmaking talent will never fully disappear, and since the speed never was his greatest weapon to begin with.
Honestly, if Rants made more plays similar to last night against LAK, people would be talking about him in the same tone as Draisaitl. He needs to be just an ounce more selfish (in terms of looks). How many snipers of that physicality and size does the League have? I hope he stays with the Avs, but at this point I fear the worst.
I genuinely think he is better than Draisaitl, puts up similar numbers, but he does it all the time. Doesn't go missing when MacKinnon is injured or out. He scores goals no matter who he is on a line with
@@UrkaZerka I honestly don't know. Both are lazy defenders and have very similar strengths. I feel like Draisaitl is less by the look with more flashiness, which elevates him in various personal ratings. Hence, why I wish Mikko was a bit more selfish - he's well capable of similar moves.
I feel like Avalanche and Mikko is not doing anything together. Why there is not any contracts assigned yet? As seen from video Mikko is crucial for Avalance, still there is no contracts signed and why is that?
You know what is the scariest thing about Rantanen? He's currently 11th all-time in points per game with 1,09 in regular season (589 gp, 274 goals, 370 assists for 644 points) but gets even better come playoffs: 4th place with 1,25 points per game (81 gp, 34 goals, 67 assists for 101 points)

He's third best player on Colorado and 7th best winger in NHL. After Draisatl, Kucherov, Pastrnak, Kaprizov, Panarin and Matt Tkachuck. He's not underrated.
Yes, he is not underrated in colorado, because they know how good he is, but among general hockey fans he is a bit underrated. There are lists made by media, where they rank him outside best 10 wingers in the league.

Fun fact. When MacKinnon has been out of the line-up, Rantanen has scored more points than with MacKinnon in the line-up.
Too many Avs fans think that without Nate he would be 80point scorer

one of the best shooters in the league
Yep
I can see him getting over 50 goals this season as well as around 60 apples
