19 million in projected cap space next year. The only expiring contracts this year are Petry and a couple of replaceable bottoms sixers. Sign Rantanen for $13-14 million, front load his contract so he makes 15 million for the first two season, then once all the kids are set in the roster on their second or third year of elc's, make a push for one more trade with some assets and they'll be humming towards deep playoff runs by then.
Husso and Lyon as far as goalies and Kane and Fischer. A back up goalie can be had cheap. We lose Petry, but Johansson would take his spot. I can see Lombardi or maybe Danielson if he's ready in Detroit next year.
Kane has not been playing well this season he needs to get it together and Kasper is the center he needs for the rest of the season. They are just trying to make pretty passes and get stripped off the puck. Kasper is starting to remind me of Zetterburg the way he holds onto the puck. He will get better with time. This coach needs to be more aggressive with the roster the PK is the worse in the league.
Not going to happen. Yzerman refuses to sign anyone to term, and when he asked the owner to approve a 4th year for Stamkos, the owner ignored his call. Until Illitch sells the team, we wont see any success.

The thing is Rantenen isn't worth 14 million so.. The Wings would sign Connor McDavid if he was asking 14-16 million aav. Chris has nothing to do with hockey operations anyway. I don't know where you got that idea.
Are your saying forwards don't play defense? In order to score, you need possession. A lot of our possessions come from forechecking. Having a dominate forward squad can limit the time on defense with 40-50 shots on goal
Detroit already made a mistake by rushing their rebuild and putting themselves out of the first overall/franchise center conversation. I see them being a middling team for a while

Who cares rumour signings. Fans want excitement and good results which are apparently miles away at this point of the season. Rebuild and coaching is not working Something has to change and rather now than later.
Look at the line he plays on in Colorado and look at who he'd play with in Detroit. Also Colorado has Makar. I think his stats drop off dramatically. Not worth the money.
SY will not pay anyone more than Larkin. He just needs to be thinking Defense and not offense we have a few players that are signed for a year after this season and 3 years that should be moved. But SY wants 200 foot players who have offense and defensive games and we have prospects who can play in the NHL but too many overrated players who are making too much. Trade Debrincat for Rantannen

I think it makes sense, possibly too much sense. The Wings can afford it plus have all sorts of quality bits and pieces to make the deal attractive.

Rantanen CAN make $14mil on the open market. Name one team who wouldn't want him on their team.
As much as I would love to have Mikko… this is a fever dream 😂
You always upgrade when you can and that would be filling a giant hole the wings have, however, I doubt he’s leaving

its a salary cap league. also we paid andrew copp over $5M so this makes no sense whatsoever.
DRW will NEVER sign a player to a $14/yr contract! Not in this decade, at least!!!
The weather's nice in Anaheim
I think any time a big name comes across the board that people play fantasy GM. It's a lovely idea but I just don't see it happening.
Chris Illitch will fire Steve for even suggesting the DRW sign Moose
Sounds good, but why are there all of these talks for big named Forwards to sign with the team, that is not what we need we need better DEFENSE.

They had the worst draft lottery luck in history. They either fell or stayed the same in every year going back to 2017. Can't blame them for that.

We have that guy in ASP, GR next year, big club the next
Rantanen has played great without makar🙄
Well Rantanen was the one to carry Colorado during times where Mackinnon and Makar were gone..
When makar and Mac is Off rantanen get more points and +/- is better how you can say that. Camoon man.
