Good story teller🙌❤... really enjoyed this interview, David is doing a great job of achiving our history in this platform... proud to be a South African struu! 🤞
I swear that this is my new favorite podcast channel. Do you know how refreshing it is to find a South African podcast that's about the artist and their life journey and not based in typical teenage behavior and gossip?
What a great interview! I know ntate "Hot sticks" for many years, i was influenced by his music and bands, but I didn't know he was also so deep in politics of those years. I'm glad that he's still alive and listening to his stories about the horrible lives of black musicians in South Africa until the 1990s when the apartheid government was defeated. Many of us young musicians I think we wouldn't have been musicians if we didn't hear the "Beaters, Harare and Hot Sticks." One day I was playing saxophone at Kippie's and I cannot forget when he came to me and said I am an advanced saxophonist. Today I'm living in Europe as a Jazz music teacher/saxophonist. It's been a great pleasure listening to this great legend of the black South African music. Thanks, to this platform.
A legendary artist full of wisdom. A great storyteller who radiates warmth. He used to visit our communication consultancy in Ferndale and he blends humility, love and depth of spirit in a unique and special way. "Thaba-Bosiu" is just a masterpiece of a song; gentle, soothing and calm. It communicates the sweet disposition of the Basotho people.
Thank you King David doing what you are doing. You do not know how much I learn from these Legends. The respect he has for his craft, The sense of responsibility he has for his country and his family, Taking responsibility when you have done a mistake, apologize when you have done a mistake, if you can and move on. Count your blessings. Perseverance, and it is not about you no matter how a bigger star you are.
I like it when he said "I've been very lucky and I don't take it for granted" he remind me of Wilson. Great ability of combining those words, great speaker indeed
@KingDavidMashabela....you may not be aware of it yet....but I think the priceless work you're doing will resonate even more in the future. This is wonderful. Thank you.®®®
Ntate Sipho Mabuse, Bra Hotstix, a legend of SA music. I would always listen to such celebrated individuals share their wisdom but most importantly, I'd advise young people to make time for such channels and learn something about SA and its people, instead of listening to cheap gossip.
A tale of brilliance delivered so romantically.Baheso we are considered, dearly so, as a people because to have access to such living treasures as our very own is quite the good fortune! Uncle Dave spoke of vantage points and this podcast is exactly that. You keep offering us this rich rare view of where we come from ,our history, our heritage ,of who we are really .You can't help but acknowledge the platform on which we as the youth of today are starting on .Giants precede us ,clearly ones who do not have it in them to throw in the towel on us and the potential of our nation , I think that is a responsibility on it's own. May the spirit of honour to craft ,humility in stewarding the fire within and seeing others along the way eternally propagate . By this Episode I have to admit, I'm particularly smitten✨
Marapyane finally made its debut 🕺🏾🕺🏾*Prof Phakeng left us out this time around but its okay ,she remains embraced*.It was also interesting to hear Ntate Herman's link with Seabe .Love love all of it😄
I love the way he interviews 😃. I guess we all have different preferences. He can’t please us all. He should just stick to what he does. It’s brilliant. I love the laid back atmosphere. It’s like listening in on a private chat. I love it. It’s so personal 👌🏾.
@@luckymtshweni5366 ‘mmm’ is an acknowledgment that he is listening and paying attention. It’s a natural response in a conversation. It’s not a funny sound 😃. Such a pity you find that disturbing.

Mr Mashabela❤thank you so much for this.
Rich history, I remember when the Beaters used to play at a nightclub called Mutanga in Highfields then Rhodesia now Zimbabwe.
