The truth is, when only listening to music, bluetooth 4.2 versus bluetooth 5.0 doesn’t really make a difference, as far as I have learned and experienced. The audio quality with bluetooth 4.2 isn’t any worse than bluetooth 5.0. The only time you may notice a difference, is when you are using the headphones to stream video. In this case bluetooth 4.2 may give you a slight delay in video when watching the film. Otherwise, bluetooth 4.2 has more than enough capacity to transfer high quality audio.
@Yngve Stiansen Sorry about the late response. I wanted to take my time and respond to you in the best way possible. As much as I appreciate your input, I have to disagree with you. If I may elaborate my point. Firstly, I'm trying to do a comparison and it is important to point the differences out in both the headphones. Furthermore, I believe it's quite lacklustre of Bang & Olufsen not to include a Bluetooth five antenna. As per my point in the video, it would've cost B&O around $10 to provide the upgrade. Secondly, due to the Bluetooth 5.0 in the Sony' they offer a range of profiles such as A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP supporting audio formats for example SBC, AAC, LDAC. For streaming high quality LDAC tracks Bluetooth 5.0 is a must. Making for a superior sound experience. Not to mention DSEE Extreme. Thirdly, one can connect and play two device that support Bluetooth 5.0 Fourthly, Bluetooth 5.0 is the latest and greatest right now. Future proofing one's devices. Furthermore, Bluetooth 5.0 is in its infancy and would no doubt be offering more features in the future. The H9 3rd gen at the time of release where B&O's flagship headphones and Bluetooth 5.0 was available. B&O should have been implemented in their flagship product. By not doing so, it leaves one disheartened. Fifth, updating firmware is not only a lot quicker at a greater distance but also more secure. Sixth, I developed Honest Straightforward Reviews with the purpose to give unbiased view on products. As much as humanly possible, I try to keep my reviews unbiased. I would have done injustice to the aforementioned reason had I not pointed out the difference in Bluetooth versions between the two headphones. I hope you can appreciate my point of view.
Yes, I certainly appreciate your feedback. I absolutely agree that bluetooth 5.x is the latest and greatest, and that all new products should have this version. I don’t understand why B&O used an older bluetooth version, but for the ordinary consumer, I don’t think the listening experience itself makes a difference. However, I am absolutely with you that there is no reason to use older technology, when newer technology isn’t any significant more expensive.
I have the H9, but they are poorly built, using very fragile materials. I have always carried them in a large protective case, but even after only 1,5 years they look so banged up, as if they had gotten under a truck. The metal has a thin layer of black finish, which is super easily scratched, and the earpads have holes. Not sure if the Sony's are built better, but just putting this out there.
Great! I was starting to think that I didn’t explain myself properly. To elaborate on that point further, if one does not care about the style, then Sony’ are absolutely the best to get. As they would also save one a lot of money as well

Between Bose and Sony, I chose the bose, instead of the sony, because hearing around, the bose have a better anc, and better microphone, the sony basses are stronger, but often they dominate all the rest of the instruments and you lose details, instead the bose the bass are less strong, but in the sound there is more detail, and it is more balanced, I just bought them with a difference of 90 euros (bose cost 90 euros less than the sony), in my opinion 80 euros are not worth everything that sony gives more, an app better and deeper bass. I hope I understand and have not made the wrong choice. Anyway about these H9, do I stay on my bose, or do I change them with H9? I mainly use them at home for HIFI music and games as well.
