The slow start of “Ship in a bottle” as she approaches the coat is great storytelling, and an awesome lead-up to that video. Like she doesn’t know why, but she recognizes it and the memories start slowly coming back.

I was really worried this was going to be a "losing her memories and humanity as more and more time passed" type video, it was a relief to see her go back to her small form.
I meannnn at this point she had no memory of it when she was “reborn” or something, and only regained it after ship in a bottle

The idea that Mariza seems to have forgotten her memories from is actually much scarier then the transformation itself. The slow start to Ship in a Bottle tied it all together beautifully!
I agree, more then the whole turning into a sea monster thing, the idea of something entirely out of your control slowly eating away at everything that makes you, well you until everything that makes up who you are is just wiped away entirely, is something I find horrific and tragic

PIRATE OC CONTENT LETSGOOO ✨️ i really like how this all comes together with ship in a bottle at the end! Really wasnt expecting for Mariza to find her old captain's coat!! Animation is so fluid it almost feel like you're underwater too, and very clever at how all the pieces come together :DD
"You can run from your past, but you can't run from your memories." Feels like an apt line for this. I love the physical change they did going from a more primal denizen of the abyss to a more human-like one after seeing the ship. I also loved the small emotions displayed through the subtle facial changes!
Everyone's already praising the animation itself, but I want to take a moment to acknowledge the sound design and the use of Subnautica's soundtrack in the background. Good stuff!

ok but seriously, the facial expressions, the movements, the animated-but-not-quite-animated feel of it, this is amazing. The character designs and the art are incredible. I’ve been waiting for an update for this story to drop on TH-cam for a while now (I don’t have access to your other socials) and this is legitimately so good.

The amount of hype I felt when I realized that this is a Ship in a Bottle prequel was CRAZY. This whole piece is so cool!! The fluidity in the animation, even in animatic form, is incredibly well done, and the "show, don't tell" aspect of the story is very well executed. Awesome work as always!!
I've seen you're work on tumblr alongside TH-cam and between your artstyle and your worldbuilding I HAVE to say if you made this story into a webcomic I guarantee you it WILL go FAR!!

This was absolutely amazing. The lack of music and just simple ambiance was great, and it slowly picking up the guitar strums of Ship in a Bottle towards the end as she approached the coat was amazing.

When "Ship in a bottle" started to play at the end I started to get chills. I loved the atmosphere and tone it sets. Especially if you watch the other video of the same title as the song. The OC video Ship in a Bottle is one of my favorite OC videos ever and I love that we get more story for the character. This was such a good intro for that video.
The animation is great as always but I must draw attention to the sound work here, it's incredibly atmospheric! I love how a slowed version of ship in a bottle plays as mariza approaches her old coat!
I liked the angelic choir in the background.

Alien Passageways, followed by Original Inhabitants or Shadow of the Reefbacks, they're really similar, and ending with the ambience for the interior of Architect bases, can't find the name for the life of me.
Oooh this one's got a different vibe than the others (having only ambiance rather than music adds to that of course, but is not the only reason)

God damn it! I just got to the part where Mariza finds the captin's coat and I was anxiously awaiting what was next and then BOOM, mattress ad. Jokes aside, amazing work shandzii! The story, the animation, I can't describe how well done this all was. I really can't wait to see what happens next.

Ooh, this one is really good for a lot of subtle reasons.
As always, the limited use of color really makes your characters pop - especially against the dark background here.
The motion and implicated of motion is really well utilized.
And the sound design is great! Ominous where it neats to be and then of course the hint of song at the end bringing us back to the (first?) Ship in a Bottle animatic. It's like weirdly nostalgic. The only weird thing is the sword swishing noises underwater sounds too much like air, but whatever. It's phenomenal otherwise
this is really cool! I love the way you established the scale and the spooky atmosphere with the various fish working up the food chain and also deeper into the ocean. The black and white with the limited colors made it even better. Amazing for a speedrun project.

The slow start to the "Ship in a Bottle" animatic had me so hyped up for no reason that I immediately clicked that video before the music had a chance to fade so I could get the emotional payoff of it you have no idea. Every time I hear that song my brain goes back to that video and I just recently ran across it again, then may or may not have binged all the new stuff I missed (since TH-cam doesn't always recommend less frequent uploads)
the atmosphere here is-- ominous. like, there's something... off. and i really like how it ties together with the strings fading in at the end, as if she's finally realizing _what,_ exactly, is wrong.

I don’t usually watch OC animatics because my brain is like “It looks cool but… we don’t know these characters.” Except your OCs. You got me with the Ship in the Bottle animatic and it was so friggin cool I had to watch everything else so when this popped up on my recommended I was like *gasp* I know these characters!!
