"I killed the monster that slaughtered all of my friends and family, and now I'm BECOMING IT." What a terrifying premise for a character. I can't imagine how horrifying it would be, how disgusted with one's own body it would make them. It's an amazing narrative, and brilliantly executed here.
agreed ! i swear i've seen narratives like these now and then, but the way the story isn't so forced, and the character you can connect with without a single word being spoken, other than a rhythm and a song. honestly, it's amazing. Shandzii, Mel and Victor you lot are truely amazing at this !
@@kikikillian1208 If I ever get the motivation I might make a fanfic about it but I hope someone with more talent and motivation than I can do it. But until then it will be saved in my idea list.
It took me three rewatches to realize the coat they were wearing for most of the animation was the dead captain’s coat.. oh god, the level of character in that single realization :0
My initial thought was “Oh good, finally an animatic for Ship in a Bottle” but now I’m thinking “I’m glad I already knew the song so it couldn’t distract from the gorgeous visuals”
The most amazing detail about this animatic is when Delta’s running towards Marzia, she yelled her name. You can’t hear it, but you can see her mouth it. It’s amazing
I didn't realize that because I didn't know her name 😂 (I found this/these videos on my school computer during class, and for some reason, I can't access the comment section on it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
I love how her hair transitioned and turned shorter and shorter, as if she always chopped the teal ends off even when she knows it doesn't make a difference.
I like how her eyes were dark for a split second at 2:05 and then when she woke up fully turned normal, which told us how she survived the shipwreck :D
@@Butterman-777 their eyes were dark like when they use their powers, so you know they used them to save themself even though they don’t know about their powers yet.
I love the fact that she wears her captain's old coat. Especially the small details of the shreds in the back from where the glass hit. Honestly I'm probably looking to deep into it but that coat seems like a symbol for all the grief she is carrying around. It was probably one of the only things she kept from her old ship (as most other things with sentimental value probably sank), it belonged to the first person she watched die that day and was helpless to save and her discovering it again after she lost her memory, it reminding her of everything she lost and everything she once was. Mwuah, brilliant Edit: something else I just noticed is that the sea monster at the start blue colour fades into gray the longer they are on screen. Really neat detail!
This is mind-blowing!! The story, the slow transition of Marzia from human to ocean creature, the colour choice of all grey except for the teal, the light and darkness in every shot, the designs, everything about this is absolutely stunning!! Your story with your pirates is a huge inspiration to me. Its a phenomenal piece of work. This is a masterpiece.
*This is unedited and terrible brain rot* It starts, with the shattering of a glass window, the piercing of one captain’s body, the blood flowing out from the ripped holes on the jacket. the serpent’s eyes glowing and its gleaning black scales in the dark. And it ends, With the death of her everything. The ship-annihilated, The comrades-drowned. The serpent-pierced with her saber; through the sheer strength of vengeance. And it comes, The grief, The mourning, The emptiness, The gray in blurred vision. Is it exhaustion or anger? She does not know. But she reacts too late, And the glowing swallows, The spirit of a deity- unready to end. And one mortal with her fate forced. And all she has left is herself. She loses that too in those moments. She suffocates in that stormy water, She asphyxiates, She chokes. Her spine is forced back- chin tilted up; desperate for relief. Her eyes bulge out of their sockets, There’s blood? She does not remember. She has lost consciousness. When she awakes, There’s something. Wispy blue, the glowing strands. They do not leave, cursing her to forever be remembering. The hate comes, People do not like strangers, They do not like ill-tempered strangers with uncontrollable powers. They do not like monsters that take. They’re right; she doesn’t like what she has become either. She has become that serpent, Savage, havoc-wrecker, inhumane. She tries again on the ocean, With the old ripped and worn coat on her back. But the mist, The glowing stranded in her mind; Like jellyfish tentacles, They wrap around her brain and drive her insane. She does not see, or feel, or manage. The serpent all-again grows. And it takes her everything again, But all she has left is herself. She loses that again. It is not pain or strangulation. It’s relief of finally letting the pent-up creature out. She is a coward. Always has been. It’s gotten her everything taken away, But she never deserved anything anyway. She escapes to the bottom of the ocean. At least they wouldn’t be hurt again by the monster. It’s just her; not her and too many thoughts there.
I encountered this by accident and I'm in LOVE with this premise of "character kills monster, gets cursed to become it" and just...the whole story, it's amazing! Not just that but the style of art is STUNNING to look at
This is absolutely gorgeous. The idea of a character that kills the monster that killed their crew, only to slowly become it is a terrifying and fascinating premise, and the character designs and animation are both beautiful.
That, except the monster they killed was actually the god of the sea :) Because when Mariza drowned, she injested the blood of the god, she gained it's powers and the previous god became mortal and died! I definitley reccommend looking into the lore, it's absolutley amazing!! :D
I like how at the beginning, Mariza is shown to have this cheerful and friendly personality, however after the sea monster destroyed her ship and crewmembers, she became cold and withdraw.
@@crowbarium14 They posted a google document in the description describing the whole lore and stuff. The sea monster was a sea goddess and the curse was basically Maria turning into the same sea monster (and pretty much into a goddess too). In which killing the previous god / goddess usually does not cause the person to turn into one too in the lore.
I'm honestly in shock that I was able to watch this for free. This seems like a storyboard to a whole movie, the pacing, characters, just everything! The art and story is so incredibly engaging it didn't even feel like five minutes, yet it also felt like an hour (in a good way)! Phenomenal work, can't believe I stumbled upon such a masterpiece at 4am on my recommended.
I agree I wish this was a legit series that I could watch on Netflix lol, it's just so interesting and I want to know the adventures this girl has ahead of her.
This was probably a unintentional detail but 0:36 On the captains map you can see a sea monster near the island this is odd as on old maps sea monsters were normally closer to the edges of the maps and represented uncharted waters The fact that the sea monster was on the map so close to the island should have been of immediate concern especially since it appeared to be a treasure map and therefore should be very well charted And If a sea monster is closer to the middle of a map it normally means those waters were too dangerous to chart This means the captain either intentionally put his crew in danger or failed to read the map properly
DUDE IN THE FIRST HALF I WAS LIKE "doesnt seem like a very fitting song for a battle scene, considering what its about, but beautiful animation nonetheless" but the scene where all the ghosts appeared and quickly vanished made me realize exactly why you chose this song and it left me in tears. your ability to draw expressions bewilders and impresses me - this is so incredible and just beautiful. thank you so much for this.
I love this. A lot of OC animatics can be pretty hard - often downright impossible - to follow without context, but this one tells a complete story that I had no trouble keeping up with. Everything I need to know in order to follow what's happening is apparent purely from the visuals, and the narrative beats themselves read very clearly.
3:38 love how this implies that the news about the sea god dying spread rapidly, as Mariza walks by and probably hears about the sea god that she killed, died. The ones who've heard the news having furrowed brows to indicate their anger/sadness showing how important that god was to them Then Mariza gets drunk and spills the beer about how she killed the sea god, making people chase after her and becoming wanted This was probably the consequences of her actions I keep replaying this way too much
@@chrisgomez1262the giant serpent at the start was the sea god. In the desc for the "it's tough to be a god" animatic you can read how the cycle works
It's weird to think of Mariza the sailor, Mariza as she becomes more withdrawn and consumed by the curse, and Mariza the fucking god as the same people. Great animatic, this is gold in video form
I love the detail of the character using an eyepatch to hide the changed eye, it really fits the Pirate theme while also having an intriguing explanation for the aesthetic!
Actually, the eyepatch was apparently made popular by pirates because they’d use it even without being injured, because if they wore an eye patch over an eye and walked below deck, they could just remove the eyepatch to have an eye that’s already adjusted to the darkness.
4:01 I'm noticing here that for a split moment, along with the moon goddess, there are 3 other figures. I think the girl here became some kind of god- specifically of water, because in that one frame the 3 others seem to represent air, fire, and earth. The goddess may be their guardian or superior
Looking at the tumblr, you're correct! The sea serpent she killed was the previous god of the ocean (and the Moon's lover). By killing it, she forced a transition of power. Bird-man is indeed an air god of some sorts.
@@fishworshipper it makes me wonder, if the sea serpent was an ocean god why did it attack the ship? It seems they were heading to an island, presumably to raid the treasure that was marked on the map, but the sea god attacked them before they could get there. However ... they hadn't actually done anything. If the god just wanted to stop them from getting whatever was on the island there was no reason to kill them, all the god would need to do would be to get them to leave. Killing them was unnecessary. No explanation was given so of course they defended themselves. Ain't the girls fault that the sea serpent suffers from Dark Souls plunge attack weakness.
What I got from tumblr: The one on the far left: Larus, (weather god) The one next to him: Ebeko, (I guess fire god he also lives in a volcano) The one next to Ebeko: Samira, (moon goddess) The one next to Samira: Dahlia (nature goddess? something about plants or life) The girl who the animatic focuses on her name is Marzia and then what fishworshipper's said (also the one who appears multiple times like at 4:38 her name is Delta and she's a mershark)
i just realized that when she blinks at around 2:05 , there’s a frame or two where her eyes are blue and black like later in the animatic! the attention to detail here is incredible, i can only hope to create something this wonderfully done one day
And what's even more incredible the lyric there is "There are red spots under your eyes From when you cry" like holy shit, attention to detail is ON POINT!
As a pirate addict myself, and a lover of anything pirate-related, this was a blast, I absolutely loved it! The tones, the lines, the animation, the way it goes with the song, EVERYTHING in here is amazing!
2:14 The subtle movement in the puddle here is so small but so amazing! It could be that I'm overanalyzing but it looks to pronounced to just be a normal splash, but rather power manifesting through the water as we see later! Simply brilliant!
Damn, I always love the concept of forced godhood and/or terrible ascensions, this animation is like *chef's kiss* to me. And it's absolutely beautiful, well done.
@@bubba6599 I'll think on it but at the moment what I believe I was talking about in my comment was two things in particular, the backstory of The Outsider in the *Dishonored* series, and just about every run of the game *Cultist Simulator.* If you're a fan of beautiful writing and card games I'd _highly_ recommend *Cultist Simulator,* it's written and developed by the amazing Alexisis Kennedy and Lottie Bevan, known for the equally well-written Fallen London and Sunless Sea. *CS* is all about gathering forbidden knowledge, making a cult, and enacting a terrible ascension to stand behind, or if you're prudent, beside, the eldritch gods known as Hours.
@@DestinyPogChamp For the Dishonored stuff I'd probably recommend watching a letsplay, it's not until the third game, *Death of The Outsider* (which is kind of a standalone DLC for the second) that it dives into the story of the titular Outsider, as for *Cultist Simulator* I'd recommend going in as blind as possible for the best experience, just as long as you make sure to read everything new that you come across in the game, though I won't fault you for looking up some gameplay tips. Alot of the fun I found in *Cultist Simulator* was in trying to piece together the cosmology of this eldritch pantheon, because almost all information you read about it comes from people who wrote it down, which means there are some things that contradict or are argued on in-universe, and it doesn't help that there are several different, yet equally valid, histories.
I love how at the start (and I guess at the end as well) of the animation she's literally holding on to the last shred of humanity she has left in the form of the torn coat she used to wear back in the day.
Holy shit?? The fact that you made a five minute animatic with clean lineart, backgrounds, SO many frames, and colored it!?!??? The art looks amazing, and the perspective with rooms and places looks natural. The storytelling was phenomenal. I would absolutely read a book or watch a show about this too! Everything in this took my breath away! I honestly can't believe how good this is, especially with the fact that this is a 5 minute polished animatic with a lot of frames. This is incredible! Can't wait for this to blow up EDIT: the video got a million views!! This definitely deserves it. Also, i just realized that this was posted on my birthday!
EXACTLY. The backgrounds are insanely detailed, the story set-up and climax is phenomenal, the music fits so darn well, the character designs are beautiful, the camera and character motion is done so smoothly….this really is a professional level animatic right here I honestly hope this animatic gets more and more views as time passes. It still deserves so much more than what it already has currently
“Under the deepest of waters, where shipwrecks dwelled, stood a sea monster holding a torn old jacket. As she stared up to the dim light of the surface, memories appeared in front of her. She remembered she was once a cheerful girl, with her crew mates, best friends and the captain, those who treated her like family, but was slaughtered by a sea monster. Even though she managed to get her revenge by killing the monster, she ended up slowly transformed into the same monster. No matter how many tries the girl tried to rid herself of the curse and tried to seek the Moon to turn her back, she failed at every attempt. At her final moments, the girl finally succumbed to become a sea monster as waves brought her down from the surface, and at the depths the sea monster was born. I pity the sea monster as she was slowly turning into the only one who took away her happiness, friends, and family. This is the story of the sea monster, Marzia.” - Random storyteller P.S. I think how Marzia turned into the monster is that the blood affected her when she was brought under the water after she killed the sea monster. Also I swear I’m getting addicted to this animatic, the art style, the story, everything about this video is immaculate! ✨✨✨ The story really hit on me when Marzia succumbed to become the monster and Delta didn’t want to leave her, this isn’t ok for me- Also, sorry if the storytelling sucks-
I have another theory about how she turned into the monster. If you look at the very last flash of it dissolving in the water, the fin turns into what looks like an arm and hand. I think whoever kills the beast becomes it, an endless cycle of torment as they slowly become the thing the destroyed.
I also have a suggestion to make: I don't think that she did it for revenge. She probably did it to save the rest of her crewmates, but that's just a theory. Personally I think she meant it for both.
So, it seems you may be saying, this is how this creature MAY be reproducing itself, as a race/species of ONE, through the curse it's infected with, as long as people hunt it, it will NEVER go extinct, there will ALWAYS be at least one!
This is an amazing animation, but I have to say, it is very funny to imagine the initial fight between Mariza and Indra as a DnD battle. DM internally: 'Alright, we can have Indra attack the ship and have Mariza be the only survivor, that could be cool as an origin. Maybe have a revenge plot against Indra as a plot hook.' DM externally: 'Alright Mariza this giant serpent is attacking your ship and you just dodged it's head. Make an attack roll' DM: 'Oh you rolled a nat20, cool, and you rolled max damage, wow. I guess you cut through several of the serpents eyes.' DM internally: 'Now to add tension let us have a cannon fire at Indra to add more tension. And wow the cannon crits as well, now *that* is luck. But should have Indra finish them off on her round.' DM externally: 'Alright so you climb the broken mast and jump at the sea serpent. Oh wow, uhm, sure make an attack roll combined with an acrobatics check.' DM internally: 'Wait Mariza rolled a double nat20 ? Are these dice fudged ? AND MAX DAMAGE AGAIN !!! Oh no, Ingdra is looking pretty bad. But she still has some health, she can still retreat on her turn.' Mariza: 'I use flurry of blows' DM internally and externally: 'Oh no' DM: 'Well Indra is dead now, good job, let's just roll with this I guess.'
This is…. Incredible. I was planning on watching a few seconds and then watching the rest later, but it was so engaging that I had to finish it all at once. The story, the visuals, the way it matches the beats of the music, it’s all absolutely incredible. I am utterly shocked by how amazing this is- it must have taken so much time and effort and it absolutely shows. The story is so compelling and I actually fELT for these characters, the beginning is so well paced and it’s absolutely haunting to see the main character being the only survivor. This video made me feel sad and surprised, but most of all curious. And that’s the purpose of animation, to make people feel emotions. This video felt like a whole MOVIE and it’s hard to believe it’s only 5 minutes long. Gorgeous designs, visuals, animation, I’m gonna be rewatching this a lot hehe fish people
My first thought as someone addicted to DnD - “holy shit this is a really good animatic…wait, fathomless warlock who’s patron lives inside them and as they level up they become more unstable because their slowly fusing with their patron..” my thoughts then rapidly devolved in mutterings that a madman would be scared of But seriously, this is some of the best work i've ever seen
@@floydthomas5562 I'm thinking about doing the same thing. It'll force the party to role play better, rightnow they break the 4th wall more than they ever should
I was just thinking that myself as I was scrolling through the comments (though i didn't think of the merging with patron and more becoming their patron after killing them, fusing with their power) Nice to know im not alone xD Also i think theyd be a water genasi thats obtained abilities the same way as their warlock abilities
I’m late to the party but I love how at 4:00 the memories are used as a transition to the fight scene. Shows that these things were constantly consuming her, and our shock as the audience in the transition helps us feel her shock as well. A beautiful emotional piece.
the way this story is told going along with the song just makes it seem like the song was made with this specific story in mind, also i really like the thing with only one thing being colored and everything else being black and white, i've seen it done a lot and it always looks so cool
Damn, this right here. This masterpiece. This could make a hell of a dnd campaign. Set in the ocean, a band of pirates try to uncover the history of the creature from the deep, and one of the characters had a personal encounter with it, leaving them adrift alone and stranded in the ocean. So much could be done, your story is truly magnificent my friend, well done ^^
The water powers would probably be a mid to late game charged ability which increases damage by a lot but lowers your defence, like a kind of blind rage ability
The amount of storytelling this video does in just 5 minutes is incredible and deserves lots of credit. Not only is the pacing is good, the emotions that come out make you feel for the characters. The art is just amazing and goes rather swimmingly with the story and song. The song was an amazing choice because the scores just get more intense and it’s really just a banger! I really hope this blows up because it’s a good example of great storytelling! ✨
also you can tell whats going on! without audible explanation or spelling it out to the viewer! incredible all around, especially since it’s assumed to be produced and made by only one person. truly incredible
Oh my gosh. This is incredible! The backgrounds are so detailed, and the poses, and the framing... There were so many amazing images on screen for just a flash! It told it's story really well (which is a very cool one), and went so well with the song. And it's five minutes long! I think this may be my favorite animatic ever. I'm going to watch this so many times.
Bro I can tell how tragic this is even if I don't know the full story. You captured it WELL! Extremely well. Though there's no real dialogue you can tell when characters get terribly depressed at something or if they're horrifically enraged (I'm gonna take a moment to say "no duh" to myself real quick.) Even though this is just an animatic, the animation and the art is nice and clear. And the fact this is the perfect, literal portrayal of "To get what I want, I became the monster I always hated." Yes I had to search the Internet for that quote lol.
This hit me like a truck 5 hours ago and I'm still feeling it. The art is fantastic, the emotions are realistic and perfectly displayed, and the theme is absolutely soul-crushing.
the ghosts at 2:44 and all the memories and flashbacks make Mariza's life even more tragic and how she loses control and hurts the people who care about her aaaa so sad in such a cool way. the design and the water shapes are really good. I like how you can tell she gets significantly more depressed and withdrawn after the ship wreck. the gods have cool designs too they make me want to learn more about them. the facial expressions in the scene with the captain starting at 1:11 are absolutely heartbreaking
“Sooo, how much trauma do you plan to intagrate into your oc’s character?” *y e s* No but genuinely I loved this, felt bad for the characters I only had know for 3 seconds and the designs, pacing, and art were AWESOME. Plus I’m a sucker for settings like this I have absolutely attacked the subscribe button and am now a wanted man
I honestly love this! i love how when she first wakes up from aftermath of the monster in the beginning and she opens her eyes slightly you can see her eyes are different but then they go back to normal. awesome foreshadowing!! I also just love your art it’s amazing.
This made me feel so much emotion and empathy for the main character. I couldn’t come back to watch it again for months because of how sad it made me, but after that I was able to appreciate what a truly beautiful and sad story this is. Amazing work
_“Mariza desperately clings to the tattered fragments of her past identity, attempting to suppress and bargain her way out of coming to terms with her shattered reality and the terrifying, new identity beginning to emerge.”_ As someone currently undergoing a major identity shift, I can relate to Mariza’s narrative on a personal (and I mean _heart-achingly_ personal) level. Watching this animatic has helped ease the growth pains related to my transition (which, in retrospect, is a weird thing to say about an animatic), but, anyway-thank you for creating this visceral yet perceptive work of art!
Oh my fucking God this is amazing the motion and the way you draw water is amazing and I love how much story this conveys with a few short scenes it's awesome
S A M E - need that confirmed backstory (I think the captain was her dad? Either bio or adopted? And the crew she was first with was like a family to her - maybe she grew up on that ship? Idk -pure speculation rn - I just love this content creator and their marvelous creations
I joy the fact the deeper the "curse" progress less of her hair got turned into water which made it so u can visualize how powerful the "curse" is that who ever has it may gain abilities but lose there sanity with it
After looking at some of the Tumblr posts, I gotta ask - why did the ocean god (I’m bad with names) attack the ship to begin with? He was the moon goddess’s lover/partner, and he seemed so sweet and tender with her - he seemed to also have the intelligence for communication and such, so why would he brutally attack a ship for what seems like no reason?
okay, ive been thinking about this, and the sea monster only starts attacking the boat after the captain points to something on the map with an x on it, maybe they were about to do a no-no on the sea monster's list? This adds additional symbolism to them wearing the captain's old clothing, as the main character journeys out to the place with the moon, and loses themself.
@@makushonjongramiresu1577 The captain tried to capture the egg of the god of the seas and the goddess of the moon (and fathers can be villent when it comes to their children)

I actually cannot get over how amazingly stunning this is. I’ve already watched this 4 times, and every little detail you put into each scene is absolutely incredible. I’m probably going to come back and watch this over and over. I know you’re going to get so many comments like this, but seriously this is professional level here.
This is probably the best OC animatic I've seen (other than the dismemberment song) and its a full on bop. and the lightning flash when she goes to kill the god is a really good touch! well done :) Edit: When the moon goddess shoves her into the dark, its basically meaning that she's gone through so much darkness, as her new life swallows her up
The attention to detail!!!! Every frame of this thing feels like it has purpose, none of it is filler to keep align to the song, it feels like. It’s amazing the things I’ve missed and noticed and noticed every time I watch this video, like 2:05 when their eyes look the same monstrous way near the end, to the elevation of the puddle in the shot right after.
THAT POWER THAT YOU WIELD WITH THOSE MAGIC FINGIES IF YOURS!!!! This is honestly some of the most impressive animatics I’ve seen, you are able to tell a WILD, AMAZING story in only a few minutes. U really brought those funky characters to life and I love all of them!!!!!!! Incredible job as always buckaroo ❤️🏴☠️✌️
This makes me feel so many feelings. I immediately went to replay it and then paced around my room thinking about every aspect of this animatic and its story. It is so incredibly well-executed w/ the art, the pacing, the storytelling, how everything is black and white except for the teal. i will be thinking about this for a long time.
THIS IS AMAZING!! The grief and anguish in the characters, the details in each background scene, the transitions and camera panning and perspective- theres so much effort into every part of this and i love it.
i genuinely have no words, this is epic. checks ALL of my boxes; stunning visuals, dope artstyle, amazing use of color, movement, and storyboarding, pirates i love this so much AAAA
The story is amazing, the characters feel real, the art is beautiful, the music fits and adds even more emotion, all in all this is perfect and I can’t stop watching this
this has to be one of my favorite things ever. I debated on whether or not to rewatch it because no story in recent memory had made me feel such pain for all the loss in it. 3:59's sequence especially is really horrifying and intriguing. in a great way!
I literally didn’t even know this song until now, and it’s now one of my favorites. But forget the song, THIS IS INCREDIBLE. The visuals are STUNNING, and the story is so interesting. “My friends and family were killed by this horrible monster, and I swore to destroy it, but now I AM IT.” Gives me chills. I would love to read a Wattpad story about this, no, see a Show about this!!! Amazing work as always, you are able to tell such a cool story with nothing but pictures and music. What a gift. Keep up the amazing work!! 💙💙💙
The title “My friends and family were killed by this horrible monster, and I swore to destroy it, but now I AM IT.” sounds like what a My Story Animated title will be like, just ridiculousness.
This is so beautifully done considering it is only an animatic, from the perspective of someone with no knowledge of the universe it takes place in; this is incredible for getting you intrigued about its world and characters, without telling you exactly who and how they are. It doesnt overdo the spectacle, and genuinely seems like this person just has a story they wish to tell and this is the first step, 10/10
Masterpiece of an animatic! The storytelling, the stakes, the art, the emotions, it's all here! Well done, loved the slow transformation into the sea monster, loved the style, loved how you matched it up to the lyrics :D
Phenomenal everything is so well done the music adds so much story and I have seen animanics but this one takes the cake the best part of it was when she was seeing the dead body of her captain the shock turned tears then to confusion then to panic then to extreme rage in all 3 seconds and I love underwater creatures especially mythology type ones I know I’m late but this is art
Wait… this is an animatic? I don’t thing I’ve ever seen one so freakishly detailed. You gave movement to the most minor details and it all works perfectly with the overall narrative and the music and it’s just a feast to the eyes. You should be very proud of this because it is a beautiful animatic and an amazing storyline. Five stars
I think its interesting how she slashes one eye of the monster and in the beginning stages of the transformation only one of her eyes gets transformed :D Love this :D
I don't even know how to describe this animatic. It's beautiful, heart wrenching, with powerful emotions and expressions that are so dynamic. The angles make the animatic even more Pixar quality, and the artwork itself is simply stunning. The story and the song line up so beautifully to create a real masterpiece that you should be proud of And the FORESHADOWING in the beginning, rewatching it again I can see the torn jacket in her hands, it's so beautifully executed!! It feels like it could be a sailor tale or turned into a sea shantey
I can't believe it's taken me like 8 watches to notice this... also spoilers for Ocean Idiots Apparently by getting the curse Mariza is not only able to move water, but she's also able to condense water. Right here we see that Mariza accidentally cuts/injures Delta... 3:56 ...with water. We even see the blood stain ON THE WATER! Also, if this is true it really shows how determined Mariza is to restrain the curse at all costs. If she cut Delta accidentally when the curse got too strong, then by all accounts Mariza could have EASILY torn Heather to shreds in that one part of The Dismemberment Song animatic. And yet all Mariza did was push her over. So that's a cool detail :)
Everyone is saying this is professional level, and it is! But I want to talk about the story. I was just watching TH-cam about to go to sleep and saw this, thought it looked interesting and clicked. I didn’t realize at first the main character WAS the sea monster at the beginning! It was really fun to watch and I could pretty much understand what was happening. It’s so good, and now I’m really interested in this story!
I know I'm late but geez I've lost count of how many times I've rewatched this beautiul Animatic along with the 'Baby It's Cold Outside cover'-one, I feel so sad for Mariza and Delta, I'm so eager to see more Animatics with them in it. Love your work, shandzii 😃💜
During the major flashing bit with the stuff that's happening really fast, I found that there are more "God's and goddesses' not just the moon one. I love this soooo much!
I just finished my third watch of it, and this animatic goes SO hard in establishing a beautiful character story. I really want to see more videos like this. I also noticed how well the events in the animatic paired with the lyrics of the song at any given moment. Really cool!
Can we please get a Netflix show of this. That would be so cool just to see a bigger understanding and evolution of how this girl transformed into the thing that she destroyed.
Probably not. The creator says that while they do like making short animatics and answering questions about their OC, they are not ready or willing to commit to such big things like shows or comics ( or at least that's what I've gathered) . They are doing it just for fun and we should all appreciate that at least we have what we have and all those amazing concepts and ideas are here for as to see and not just sitting in their mind.

It starts,
with the shattering of a glass window,
the piercing of one captain’s body,
the blood flowing out from the ripped holes on the jacket.
the serpent’s eyes glowing and its gleaning black scales in the dark.
And it ends,
With the death of her everything.
The ship-annihilated,
The comrades-drowned.
The serpent-pierced with her saber;
through the sheer strength of vengeance.
And it comes,
The grief,
The mourning,
The emptiness,
The gray in blurred vision.
Is it exhaustion or anger?
She does not know.
But she reacts too late,
And the glowing swallows,
The spirit of a deity- unready to end.
And one mortal with her fate forced.
And all she has left is herself.
She loses that too in those moments.
She suffocates in that stormy water,
She asphyxiates,
She chokes.
Her spine is forced back- chin tilted up; desperate for relief.
Her eyes bulge out of their sockets,
There’s blood?
She does not remember.
She has lost consciousness.
When she awakes,
There’s something.
Wispy blue, the glowing strands.
They do not leave,
cursing her to forever be remembering.
The hate comes,
People do not like strangers,
They do not like ill-tempered strangers with uncontrollable powers.
They do not like monsters that take.
They’re right; she doesn’t like what she has become either.
She has become that serpent,
Savage, havoc-wrecker, inhumane.
She tries again on the ocean,
With the old ripped and worn coat on her back.
But the mist,
The glowing stranded in her mind;
Like jellyfish tentacles,
They wrap around her brain and drive her insane.
She does not see, or feel, or manage.
The serpent all-again grows.
And it takes her everything again,
But all she has left is herself.
She loses that again.
It is not pain or strangulation.
It’s relief of finally letting the pent-up creature out.
She is a coward.
Always has been.
It’s gotten her everything taken away,
But she never deserved anything anyway.
She escapes to the bottom of the ocean.
At least they wouldn’t be hurt again by the monster.

On the captains map you can see a sea monster near the island this is odd as on old maps sea monsters were normally closer to the edges of the maps and represented uncharted waters
The fact that the sea monster was on the map so close to the island should have been of immediate concern especially since it appeared to be a treasure map and therefore should be very well charted
And If a sea monster is closer to the middle of a map it normally means those waters were too dangerous to chart
This means the captain either intentionally put his crew in danger or failed to read the map properly

It's not really pirate exclusive.
Actually, the eyepatch was apparently made popular by pirates because they’d use it even without being injured, because if they wore an eye patch over an eye and walked below deck, they could just remove the eyepatch to have an eye that’s already adjusted to the darkness.

Looking at the tumblr, you're correct! The sea serpent she killed was the previous god of the ocean (and the Moon's lover). By killing it, she forced a transition of power. Bird-man is indeed an air god of some sorts.

If the god just wanted to stop them from getting whatever was on the island there was no reason to kill them, all the god would need to do would be to get them to leave. Killing them was unnecessary.

Well a show is ambitious. However a comic could be doable.
This is the story of the sea monster, Marzia.”
- Random storyteller
P.S. I think how Marzia turned into the monster is that the blood affected her when she was brought under the water after she killed the sea monster.
Also I swear I’m getting addicted to this animatic, the art style, the story, everything about this video is immaculate! ✨✨✨ The story really hit on me when Marzia succumbed to become the monster and Delta didn’t want to leave her, this isn’t ok for me-
Also, sorry if the storytelling sucks-
I have another theory about how she turned into the monster.
Dude..............this was awesone

DM externally: 'Alright Mariza this giant serpent is attacking your ship and you just dodged it's head. Make an attack roll'
DM: 'Oh you rolled a nat20, cool, and you rolled max damage, wow. I guess you cut through several of the serpents eyes.'
DM internally: 'Now to add tension let us have a cannon fire at Indra to add more tension. And wow the cannon crits as well, now *that* is luck. But should have Indra finish them off on her round.'
DM externally: 'Alright so you climb the broken mast and jump at the sea serpent. Oh wow, uhm, sure make an attack roll combined with an acrobatics check.'
DM internally: 'Wait Mariza rolled a double nat20 ? Are these dice fudged ? AND MAX DAMAGE AGAIN !!! Oh no, Ingdra is looking pretty bad. But she still has some health, she can still retreat on her turn.'
Mariza: 'I use flurry of blows'
DM internally and externally: 'Oh no'

Seriously, im breathless. This is so beautiful. ❤
the ghosts at 2:44 and all the memories and flashbacks make Mariza's life even more tragic and how she loses control and hurts the people who care about her aaaa so sad in such a cool way. the design and the water shapes are really good. I like how you can tell she gets significantly more depressed and withdrawn after the ship wreck. the gods have cool designs too they make me want to learn more about them. the facial expressions in the scene with the captain starting at 1:11 are absolutely heartbreaking

I could be wrong but if I've been quoting that wrong my whole life I'd be so disappointed
“Sooo, how much trauma do you plan to intagrate into your oc’s character?”

No but genuinely I loved this, felt bad for the characters I only had know for 3 seconds and the designs, pacing, and art were AWESOME. Plus I’m a sucker for settings like this
I have absolutely attacked the subscribe button and am now a wanted man
y-yeah? I found him
I honestly love this! i love how when she first wakes up from aftermath of the monster in the beginning and she opens her eyes slightly you can see her eyes are different but then they go back to normal. awesome foreshadowing!! I also just love your art it’s amazing.
She is actually a he with long hare.
@@eugeniawelch3646 I believe in the description she was referred to as “water girl”.
@@mr.frenchdressing3701 sorry didn’t bother to check the description
The lyrics also was amazing for that moment
Same for the whole video but still-
This made me feel so much emotion and empathy for the main character. I couldn’t come back to watch it again for months because of how sad it made me, but after that I was able to appreciate what a truly beautiful and sad story this is. Amazing work
_“Mariza desperately clings to the tattered fragments of her past identity, attempting to suppress and bargain her way out of coming to terms with her shattered reality and the terrifying, new identity beginning to emerge.”_
As someone currently undergoing a major identity shift, I can relate to Mariza’s narrative on a personal (and I mean _heart-achingly_ personal) level. Watching this animatic has helped ease the growth pains related to my transition (which, in retrospect, is a weird thing to say about an animatic), but, anyway-thank you for creating this visceral yet perceptive work of art!
She forgot everything after she ascended
Oh my fucking God this is amazing the motion and the way you draw water is amazing and I love how much story this conveys with a few short scenes it's awesome
Wait how did you comment on this video 2 hours before it was posted?

@@darkarmour8971 Don't question my powers, mortal.
i'm going to need an in-depth explanation of everything this character has ever experienced please and thank you i love them so so much
S A M E - need that confirmed backstory (I think the captain was her dad?
I think the captain is trying to steal something from the sea God and that's why it attack?
@@makushonjongramiresu1577 The captain tried to capture the egg of the god of the seas and the goddess of the moon (and fathers can be villent when it comes to their children)

both gods were female btw
The only disappointing part about this is
I don’t know when there will be a part 2 or if there ever will be one…
I wouldn't worry about that.
This isn't a set up like a whole narrative.
This is just an origin story.
Probably going to be a fanfic or two, most likely with a narrative and words, not the lyrics to a song in the background.
There is
there's an entire story on their tumblr, but its mostly 3 friends goofing off, its a excellent story, but don't expect something super big, occasional GODLY animatics is all :O
Pootis
I feel like with more lore she’s actually gonna be able to turn into a sea monster when she wants to 👀
“Pain, this is what I fight for”
This feels like a story that couldn’t possibly be done justice in a single animatic. And yet, you did it justice, in a single animatic. Amazing job!
Imagine a whole story though
my first thought when seeing this was 'oh cool something to watch' but now im watching it over and over and never get tired of it
its a masterpiece

This makes me feel so many feelings. I immediately went to replay it and then paced around my room thinking about every aspect of this animatic and its story. It is so incredibly well-executed w/ the art, the pacing, the storytelling, how everything is black and white except for the teal. i will be thinking about this for a long time.
THIS IS AMAZING!! The grief and anguish in the characters, the details in each background scene, the transitions and camera panning and perspective- theres so much effort into every part of this and i love it.
I love how the song matches the scenes, like when she hallucinates the crew on the deck but it’s just mist the song is like “No crew”
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! I LOVE THE DESIGNS, THE PLOT, THE BACKGROUNDS AND THE MOVEMENTS!!
My heart geniunely aches for her, ive never had a story so beautifully tell the fall of a character- absolutely FANTASTIC!
Man I want this as a TV show, about a lost sea creature slowly peacing together her past through finding her old possession in a ship wreckage.

this has to be one of my favorite things ever. I debated on whether or not to rewatch it because no story in recent memory had made me feel such pain for all the loss in it. 3:59's sequence especially is really horrifying and intriguing. in a great way!
2:04 I've seen this animatic a bunch of times and only just caught the brief glimpse of the glowing eyes here. Epic foreshadowing
time to write
The title “My friends and family were killed by this horrible monster, and I swore to destroy it, but now I AM IT.” sounds like what a My Story Animated title will be like, just ridiculousness.
@@Voidmoth1 HECK YEAH
Five stars
I think its interesting how she slashes one eye of the monster and in the beginning stages of the transformation only one of her eyes gets transformed :D
Love this :D
I don't even know how to describe this animatic. It's beautiful, heart wrenching, with powerful emotions and expressions that are so dynamic. The angles make the animatic even more Pixar quality, and the artwork itself is simply stunning. The story and the song line up so beautifully to create a real masterpiece that you should be proud of
And the FORESHADOWING in the beginning, rewatching it again I can see the torn jacket in her hands, it's so beautifully executed!! It feels like it could be a sailor tale or turned into a sea shantey
this is honestly one of the coolest backstory I've ever seen BYE FAR.
I can't believe it's taken me like 8 watches to notice this... also spoilers for Ocean Idiots
Apparently by getting the curse Mariza is not only able to move water, but she's also able to condense water.
HOLY SHIT!! IT CAME OUT SO FUCKING GOOD!!! FEELS LIKE WATCHING A WHOLE ASS MOVIE!! SO FUCKING PROUD OF YOU DUDE!!!
AND CONGRATS ON BREAKING THE DELTA CURSE!!!

This is just the backstory for a D&D character AND I LOVE IT!!!

During the major flashing bit with the stuff that's happening really fast, I found that there are more "God's and goddesses' not just the moon one.
I love this soooo much!
I nkow I saw it too it’s 3 more if you count the animal
I just finished my third watch of it, and this animatic goes SO hard in establishing a beautiful character story. I really want to see more videos like this. I also noticed how well the events in the animatic paired with the lyrics of the song at any given moment. Really cool!
Can we please get a Netflix show of this. That would be so cool just to see a bigger understanding and evolution of how this girl transformed into the thing that she destroyed.
Yes
Yes please!!!!
No, Netflix would cancel a potential masterpiece after a single season. Unless you're breadwinners that is.
