Is it bad that when you say, "I don't see it, do you?", I shake my head? I really find myself drawn into your vids, Beau. Keep up the great work, and thanks!
Hahaha, my mind took it to a little bit of a different way... Since old "remedies" often had things like cocaine and heroin in them... No sun glasses lol . You have those days when the good stuff doe'nt appear the medicine bottle is a neat find and you had some musket balls shot. Great video as normal Nice one Dave
LOL! That ice cream cone design with the small hole on top is definately Victorian England. The ones made I. The states did not have holes on the sides! LOL! Nice video Beau. That pig iron had me wondering if it was spilled ballast, but I dobt know how big that river you are on gets or was in the past. Thanks for taking us along. Always a fun time!
Ice cream cones were not invented until the early 1900's when an icecream vendor at the worlds fair ran out of bowls, and started using waffles from a nearby vendor to wrap the icecream in
I am in love with the bottles. I used to go fishing in a beautiful river in Northern California with my dad. I never thought to walk through and look. I would be so excited to find bottles like that. Especially if any of them had color to them. Like the square ones too.
The Chamberlain's is about 1890 out of Iowa, allegedly treated cholera, and probably anything else that they could sell it for. I found one a while back and that's what I found out about it. Worth adding to the collection.
My husband is from Beckley and he still has family there. I love the history you bring to life with your searches. My mother taught history and I think there were some people she taught in the San Francisco area that thought the south won the Civil War. We're lucky to live in the places where history happened and for some to have ancestors that were part of that history. Looking forward to more adventures on the river. Oh, the possum baby was cute but the vulture babies-Yuk!
***** Ain't that the truth! Like if we replay it enough the outcome will change. If you're coming to NC would you please stop in Greensboro and drop off a baby fox, possum, or other cute critter you find in your travels-no birds of any sort. Thanks!
I like that story (fib) about the ice cream holder. We don`t have much for streams like that here. People have done digs of old dumps and there are lots of old yard sites near here. I live in a recently settled area compared to where you are. Settlers came here about 1860`s. No civil war relics, maybe early indian things. Maybe I`ll retire one day and start digging. I sure like watching your videos. Keep up the good work. Is there a market for some of the things you find or is most of it just keepsakes. carry a small butane torch and melt the fish line. Thanks
Hi Beau. I just had a thought... you said you had no idea why there was so much pig iron there... At one point a bit after that comment, I think there is a train in the background... I've nothing to base this on but a half-remembered lyric from a Johnny Horton (I think) song, but didn't they transport a lot of pig iron by rail once the rail lines were in? If so, if that line is old enough, might there have ever been a train derailment in the area that lost at least some of it's load? That weird piece you couldn't ID (at approx 5min) also makes me think of something in the old steam engine you could climb around on that was in a park in a town I grew up in. If it were a derailment, the odd size handle might have been train equip, odd sized to fit in a small space, or part of a lever or some such. Slim chance since it is speculation w/out much to basis, but it might be interesting to research if there is any historical societies, railway museums, or similar in the area.
I think the iron long handle thing is the handle of a broom. A tied bunch of fine twigs or branches, even straw, was bound to the pole just above the triangle, the rest of the branches went through the triangle and were fanned out along the bottom bar of the triangle and then tied to the bar to keep the fan straight and open. As the twigs/straw wore away, they could be cut free and a new bunch replaced onto the reusable handle. I've seen wooden ones, thats the first iron one I've seen. Neat ! ;-)x
Hey Beau ,yet another awe inspiring video my friend ,you meantion end if you miss something to meantion it to you .....well at 2:34 it looks to me like a corroded coin about 2 inches above the large rock on the right hand side ,could have been a target that was missed due to the splitshot/bullet. Not sure if it is but it sure does look like it Good luck and happy hunting mate
Might be a prank of mother nature, or some other disk shaped object that might not me metal. It is not particularly deep in the ground (it's actually in the surface). Might be a dirty plastic or wood button that fell from the pants of someone who walked in that area. It really does look too much like a coin, thought it was one when I saw it. About the weird handle, it could be anything at first glance, not sure if cast iron, doesn't look like made by a blacksmith or something, and the angles of the handle make it look like it was made by iron pieces welded together. I think once saw a similar handle on a small irrigation water gate.
I want colonial Ice Cream!!! I am going to make my own cone out of bronze. I have heard of people turning them upside down and using them to make a ringing noise, but nothing says summer in colonial Virginia like a copper ice cream cone... ahh, those were the days.
It looks like you passed up on a coin around the 2:35 mark. It's just to the right of the buckshot/sinker standing on edge wedged between two small rocks. Happy Hunting.
You're the same guy that found the baby fox??? You find historical stuff on land and in the water??? You actually recovered a civil war ice cream cone, too??? NO FAIR! No one person should have so much fun. And, why do you have a French name, get comments in French, but sound a little ...eastern shore Virginia? Do you really lead tours somewhere? I'm not a stalker-I'm an old lady in NC and I've spent my whole morning watching your videos. Fascinating stuff.
I had to google that cone at the end. I did not find anything about it. Are you pulling our legs? What if the heated it than dipped it into batter, would that not make a cone? lol ok. always read the description kids! as well as read some of the other comments Beau has responded to.
Truly enjoy your adventures. Blacksmithing is red hot, anvils are going for over $1,000. Some folks are trying to make pig iron the old fashioned way and have some video up. Anyway I bet blacksmiths would love to get hold of thatpig iron and any fibrous looking iron. Like the shovel handle u found. How can one obtain some pig iron from you? Do you sell on eBay? I know the-it iron is h e a v y. But it could be valuable! To the right folks.
Hey Beau, Your "Ice Cream Cone" looks like a "Tobacco Spear", used to harvest tobacco. The holes would be for attaching it to a wooden pole. And I ain't lying. Whatcha think?
Did you miss a coin? At 2:24 above your hand is that a coin on edge you are pointing at the buck shot and even point out square nails.Enjoy the channel
I know this video is old but was that not a coin sitting on end at about 2:25 in when you were picking up the buck shot? To the upper right of your hand. Long gone now if it is. Love your videos by the way.
2:32 theres something round wedged between the 2 smaller rocks between the 2 larger rocks. its kind of half way between your thumb and fore finger in the shot. could be a coin. cant say for sure. 5:34 something else round. silver/green.
I thought maybe the iron ice-cream cone was the fib, but then I remembered that actually was historically correct. George Washington started the trend when he had fund raisers to Save the Cherry Trees.
I totally appreciate your humor. I loved the old fashioned icecream cone . .
Your historic "ice cream cone" LOL looks like a tip that fit onto the end of the pole that canal boats used to push themselves along.
Hi beau the big old iron thing at 5:00 looks like a "thunder mug" for signalling ships :) great video GL & hh
Is it bad that when you say, "I don't see it, do you?", I shake my head? I really find myself drawn into your vids, Beau. Keep up the great work, and thanks!
Beau. Your a good ambassador of the environment. Thank you

Made me laugh. You caught me off guard when you said "hold your breath" and I actually DID hold my breath when you dove under the water.
Enjoyed the video Beau...pretty neat finds/hunt...thanks for taking us along. Best of Luck and HH
Love hearing the birds singing...great bottles..have a great day

I'm a rock guy, dont know much about metal n stuff. but i always learn SO much from your videos, always love watching!
I'm addicted to watching your adventures!
Cool ice cream cone but I would hate to bite it. Ouch!!! You are so funny.
Ice cream cones were not invented until the early 1900's when an icecream vendor at the worlds fair ran out of bowls, and started using waffles from a nearby vendor to wrap the icecream in
Legs in the air, don't shoot......LMAO............

Fun to see such a variety of stuff. Thanks :)
The Chamberlain's is about 1890 out of Iowa, allegedly treated cholera, and probably anything else that they could sell it for. I found one a while back and that's what I found out about it. Worth adding to the collection.
iron ice cream cone lol looks like a tip to a pole for a raft or skift
Cool finds. Nice bottles.
I love your video's, they are very interesting to a city boy like me. That ice cream cone is a find and a half. Thank's for the upload. Kevin.
***** Haha LOL. Very Good.
Love your iron relic vids, thanks Beau
LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS AND WHAT YOU FIND--THANK YOU.
HAHAHA that fib was so funny!
"Hold your breath" LOL!

That ice cream cone has lots of iron in it. LOL. GL&HH
Lol, I thought that was a ferry pole tip!?
Added iron to your ice cream, yummy!!
Always enjoy your treasure flick.
W.
Nice finds brother. HH and best wishes, Terry...

Definitely a fib. Actually, when they had a surplus, they fed those iron ice cream cones to the iron pigs. You found both.
Pre Civil War ice cream cone.... CLASSIC!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Really enjoy your videos, and loved the ice cream cone....that was a quality find. Was there any civil war raspberry ripple in the bottom of it? :-)
I absolutely love all your videos there so interesting to watch and very entertaining
Nice video :) keep up the hope for some more finds :)

Nice and interesting hunt Beau!
Thanks for the mono caution. Fishermen strip their reels and leave that deadly stuff everywhere. I find a lot of it on the beach.
Nice iron ice cream cone haha, it is the bottom to a staff used to push a boat isn't it?
😂😂 ice cream cone! That's halaious!! Push pole tip. Do I get a prize also?
Thank you. Nice hunt!
Ice cream cone? Seriously Beau! Lol.
Chamberlains Cough remedy appears to be from ~1900-1920.
when he gets the bottle at 14:27 there was a white iphone about 2 feet away from him
Vanessa Rodriguez yeah
Hello Beau isn't your metal ice cream holder the metal tip of a barge pole ;-)
*****
You taught me well ;-)
Did a bit of research quickly,I guess Chamberlain's Cough Remedy bottle you found is probably from circa 1890's.
***** An ad from 1900 for the Chamberlin Cough remedy. It seemed quite the medicine according to the ad.
trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/44257841
He was having a bit of a laugh at us with the ice cream cone.
Love that old cough remedy bottle!
I like that ice cream cone lol

Look forward to your searches. Have looked at old ones to catch up.
Sometimes answer your question...as if you could hear me..
Thanks for your work

No problem. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing. :)
Pig iron shells and ice cream cones. Oh my! Is the fib the tip of a pole for river navg?
What setting were you in?
Yaay, a video in which you are talking again
lmfao....yes the old ironcreamcone. i remember them well.
Enjoyed your little "fib".
That was a pretty tall tale you told there,Beau;)
Hey Beau!! Where did u find the pick that you use?? Did u make it? I know you put that magnet on the end!! Where did u also get the magnet?? Thanks!!
some of those bottles you passed are still worth money
I was thinking of a old crutch!...........
Great video!
I think the shovel thing might be the handle of an old wagon
I like the pre- Civil War ice cream cone (fib)

you was just kidding about the ice cream item right
beau, that weird iron shovel looking thing at around 4:40 i beleive is a swing blade, yet its blade is missing. used to cut grass and low shrubbery
***** Could it be the top part of a crutch?
Then it probably isn't - no.
UnoDos96 Fireplace poker maybe
That "buckshot" looked like a weight to a fishing line
LOL pre civil war ice cream cone. It's clearly 1920's ;)
The first piece of iron you picked up in the water was an anchor you can still buy them today I believe
The thing you found at the start was actually a sinker modern I have like 20 of them in my fishing kit
hi I am one of your biggest fans. I am twelve and have watched many of your videos. I have just started hunting. Got any tips...
Same
LOL antique ice cream cone....By the way, why do you save the pig iron?
I know this video is old but was that not a coin sitting on end at about 2:25 in when you were picking up the buck shot? To the upper right of your hand. Long gone now if it is. Love your videos by the way.
Hope u get 1 million subs
The buck shot looks more like an older split shot I may still have a few left in a tackle box.
No way that was a ice cream cone chig lmao
I didn't read all the replies, but maybe the ice cream cone is a bit far fetched? Funny though. LOL
Nice bottles!
So with the pig iron.
Is it able to be melted in a home foundry or furnace, because you could make quite a bit of profit by casting iron ingots?
2:32 theres something round wedged between the 2 smaller rocks between the 2 larger rocks. its kind of half way between your thumb and fore finger in the shot. could be a coin. cant say for sure.
5:34 something else round. silver/green.
The diff in people from way back to today is people back in the day hid the dump piles. People nowadays just toss it anywhere
I've watched a lot of your videos. Just noticed now you weren't on pro mode. Do you just prefer less noise??
The shovel handle looked like a early tent steak or tie down bar
The fib is the iron ice cream cone. ha ha long live the chig
WOW A ICE CREAM CONE !!!~
I thought maybe the iron ice-cream cone was the fib, but then I remembered that actually was historically correct. George Washington started the trend when he had fund raisers to Save the Cherry Trees.
that big hunk of iron that you left was an old wagon hub
*****
i dug a bunch of them out of an old field that still had parts of the wheel on them thats the only reason i knew lol
Maybe that handle looking thing is some kind of crutch.
I'm thinking that triangle tool thing is an old handle for a wagon maybe...
Could it possibly have been a crutch?
ice cream cone. that's a fib. lol
