You shouldn't need one if you are catching the band properly as you let go, usually adding more line when not absolutely necessary causes more problems than it solves :P

I bought that fibreglass epsealon polespear today at the new location and took it to copper cove. I didn't see any greenling today but I can tell it was totally fine for cruising around boulders on the north shore in medium visibility. I am hella stoked on it.

Absolutely it’ll scare em off. I use mine against coyotes to protect my animals and they don’t want kick rocks quickly and quietly
