Evening folks, back to Harrods again… after my Gordon Ramsay experience will this be any better?
Pricey, but tasty, what do you think??
Steeper than Mount Everest that pal.😉
@@robsmith6281 I like that🤣….true to!
@@robsmith6281 haha!
@Greenoeats for the best fish and chips I’ve had in a good while. When you are next in London. The Queens Head. Brook Green, Hammersmith. Is a must.
Most people eating at places like that have zero concerns about money. I suspect the prices are designed to keep the oiks out, and it only seems expensive to us because we actually have to think about when to put our heating on and how much it costs to fill the fuel tank in the car
They serve chips with caviar, so obviously catering for a certain unsophisticated clientele.😅
@@63mckenzie I wouldn't even call them chips - potato Jenga
People with money are not daft enough to part with it on overpriced mediocrity im afraid 🙄
@@PotatoPirate123 Yeah, they looked horrible.
@@63mckenziepeople are so gullible you couldn’t make it up😂
A pound per chip?
£27 for what you had is robbery go for a subway.😁
Ha ha - it was really tasty though
Subway is more of a ripoff, absolute garbage and it’s not cheap
Subway 🤢
Absolutely the worst restaurant in the Uk.
I went there a couple of weeks back, it was a disaster, completely overpriced shit. Daylight robbery.
But if people are prepared to pay for these sort of celebrity chef shit stains then it will carry on giving you bad service, bad food and a total lack of respect for the customer.
I didn't see evidence of bad service, and the food I received was tasty - I appreciate that not every day will be the same though!
The reason why certain places are very expensive is to deliberately exclude people from lower socio-economic orders. Even $100 for a meal is chump change for someone who is only a millionaire, let alone someone who is HNV. But many of these places also pay incredible rent too, higher wages, so that has to be passed onto the patron.
I paid $30,000 for a watch. Is it good value? Dunno, don't care. The only thing I know is I have a very nice $30,000 watch. Unless it's ludicrous, value is totally in the eye of the beholder. The only thing you can do is compare like for like. Is a Rolex better than an Omega?
@@idanceforpennies281 there is no value whatsoever in paying that price for a watch, it's nothing more than a status symbol for people without a working brain...but you do you pal
I expect I was the lowest net worth individual eating in the room haha!
@@figgyfox8465 A Patek Philippe watch sold for $24 million. Is that good value?
@@figgyfox8465 Pipe down little man. Show some respect for your wealthier betters. Not everyone is skint like you.
Just overpriced no matter how good it was!!!
Pricey yes, but very tasty
Eeew brioche buns with fish... Don't be fooled people fish needs a bread bun not a fancy light doughnut.. 🤢🤢🤢
I don't fancy that with Fish myself, i like it with Pork or Beef, but that's different.
Fair point - this actually worked quite well though, little bit of sweetness to the break worked witht he tartare and the fish
Hello Greeno hope you are well
I think I will give this place a miss
Until next time take care and have a lovely weekend 🤗🍀
I know it's not a place everyone would want to visit, but it's interesting to try these places and see which ones are actually worth the splurge
Sounds like the sort of place to go when someone else is paying. At least the food was good, as so many places with a big name attached to it don't live up to the hype.
Yes, compared to the Gordon Ramsay establishment in the same building it was certainly a contrast!
👍 straight away
You’ll be disappointed mate
See if I’m right….
seriously, £8 quid pub lunch
And were you right?😂
Places like this are fine if you have no budget concerns. The food is ok but for £40 I would choose a nice restaurant in London with a knife and fork. The cover charge is a joke whoever charges it. I reserve judgement on Tom Kerridge until I see one of his pubs reviewed or visited myself. Thanks for the review Greeno.
I don't doubt there are places you can get a finer meal for the money, but I have to say I really enjoyed it :-)
@@richardjennings3049 Tom Kerridge is a scoundrel,if I could use a stronger word on here I would,and it would begin with a c
@@figgyfox8465😂🤣👍
£6 for a roll in butter is just ridiculous. Only extremely wealthy folk would pay that. The chips are veering into roast tottie territory and to pay £27 quid for that - nah, not a chance.
A chip butty would come in just over £15 - I agree that's strong, but the food was very tasty!
This will be one to create a discussion. I can't get over over how few chips though
Perhaps so - they were pretty good chips though - the fish finger sandwich once I put a bit more tartare sauce on was amazing!
Mrs G "So where did u go to my lovely ?" Mr G "Just a little cafe in Knightsbridge" Cough !. Tis only tourists that keep these places afloat. Methinks Mrs G deserves a special treat after this :D
I do have plans to take Mrs G to a nice restaurant soon (as long as she is happy with me filming it haha!)
How do you feel about cheese slice in a fish finger sandwich? I’ve been converted, but yet to see it in a restaurant.
Not a fan myself, but if I make one at home I normally use salad cream instead of tartare sauce
Whaaaaaaat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The hell no way .

Iceland frozen chips probably 😅😅😅😅😅
All chips taste the same after I've put on masses of salt and then drowning in vinegar.

Looked good tbh. Price wise provably about right given the location. Good review.
Yeah, wouldn't pay that in Weymouth haha!!
Nine pounds Fifty for ten chips! were they sprinkled with gold dust or caviar? That is taking the proverbial.
£27 for fish finger butty really!
Feel sorry for tourists who are taken for a ride, never mind others. Crazy prices but if people are stupid enough to pay those prices they will keep mugging them.
Cover charge and service added as well. Cheeky b......
A 3 from me.
The cover charge is always an annoyance. High prices, but the fishfinger sandwich was delicious!
I would give it a 2. Greeno ate it in what is a glorified canteen and shelled out, overall, the best part of 50 quid. For a Captain BirdsEye burger and 9 chips that you and me can make at home for 2 quid. Ask me, no matter how tasty it was, that is shameful. But, as you rightfully said, if people are daft enough to pay it then these places will gladly take your money. And rip off many tourists who will never come back.
I fell out of love with Kerridge, when he presented a show called, “Everyday Family Meals” or something like that. Took him a day to prepare and marinate the meat, which was a beef fillet, along with the sides. Cooked it on the bbq a day later. I mean, the beef must have been an 80 quid touch alone. What families was this show aimed at? If I were a millionaire, I would not pay £1 for a potato chip, I’d be stupid. Over priced and pretentious.
I do think sometimes chefs get lost in the foodie world they inhabit - I wonder when the last time they had beans on toast was!
Jesus Greeno, im no Scrooge but £9.50 for nine chips! You need your head read mate! Fish finger sandwich looked ok my not 20 odd quid ok!
The Aberdonian in me is shaking my head & rolling my eyes! Lol glad i got to experience it through your eyes as im highly unlikely to ever try it for myself!😬👍👏👏♥️
It's a lot of money - but I did really enjoy it :-)
I don't blame u at all the place is just a name u can buy just as good for a lot cheaper and better quantity
I live in Bolton we have a chippy who charges £10 for 6 chips a spoonful of peas and a slice of fish more fool the idiots that pay it.

What is it with brioche buns?, I don’t care for them at all, too sweet for my taste, especially with fish.
Over priced even for there. Glad you enjoyed it though. 😊
I totally agree brioche buns have no place on savoury dishes😮America is to thank for that!!!
@@nightnurse2543 Well, considering we are all supposed to be cutting back on sugar it seems bonkers that they are shoving it in everything. I like wholemeal or sourdough, they can have their brioche buns back and gladly…..rant over!😁 Happy eating to you.😊

@@GreenoEats As it should well be for that price, that’s the least I’d expect, glad you enjoyed it though. 😊
@@nightnurse2543No the US isn’t to thank for Brioche buns, the UK has no need to copy American.
A pound a chip!! LOL... If a piece of fish, even a fish "finger" needs to be slathered with tartare sauce in order not to be dry then surely there's an issue. If you're paying that sort of money I would think that anything less than a perfect score must deserve a fail.
I suppose that is one way to look at it - I just think it was a tasty food experience, and while at a high price it was certainly better value the other place i ate at in the same building!
As soon as you saw those chips, you should've dialled 999 to report a robbery in progress .
Ha ha, imagine the police response to someone moaning about the cost of something under a tenner in Harrods 😂
We love our fish and chips. Where we live can be a challenge here in Virginia finding them on a menu. Have you been to America? Would you ever consider doing food vlogs here?
All the Best Mate 👍👍 Jim and Harriet
I’ve actually only been to the States once, a week in California. I have to say it was a week where I are well! I’d love to spend some more time there if the Greeno Eats budget ever allows it!
I hope Al-Fayed wasn't lurking around for a free chip!!!!
As he died some years ago I doubt it 🤣
Thank you Greeno, will give that one a miss, never believe in taking out a mortgage to eat!! I would want a side of Caviar for that price. 🤗🤗👍👍
Haha, sorry, the caviar was extra 😂
A lot of people in the comments saying what were you thinking, need head examined for paying that. However, you are a food review channel, reviewing the cheap, the high end and all in between. I appreciate you trying different places and giving us your thoughts. At the end of the day, yes, it was expensive, but at least you liked it. Many times, you or Gary paid a good deal for unpleasant food. I enjoyed your review, keep em coming and very close to 15k subscribers!
Thanks for those kind words. Sure, I understand that not everyone who watches the video will want to, or can afford to pay the kind of prices for this - and that's absolutely fine. In my eyes at least t was more than 20 times cheaper and a lot tastier than my other recent harrods experience!!
Absolutely agree with you, people in the comments don’t seem to realize this is a review channel, and that Greeno isn’t just eating there to spend money.I watch as I like to see what is available out there, and because I enjoy Mr Greeno.😊

Thanks Denise - it was pricey, but also tasty!
£27 for a fish butty at Tom Kerridge's as they for the high end customers. Nine chips are £1 each as you can get cheaper and better chips elsewhere with bigger portions. Cover charges for customers to put bums on seats at the table is outrageous. I remember many years ago when I went to a fish and seafood restaurant near China Town, London. I was charged for a the use of napkin and table cloth. The waiter agreed with me that the charges are appalling. A few month later the restaurant closed down which didn't surprised me.
The cover charge really annoys me - even the service charge is more acceptable - at least it is a charge for comething tangible!
Hi greeno...another great video considering your limit of space..well your meal looked really nice and I'm glad you enjoyed it.....keep them coming Greeno..always look forward to watching them❤
Thanks, I appreciate that 🙂
Looked great and the price is about the same as Cornwall prices
Is that so? I am planning to travel to Cornwall, possibly even in the next week or two - hoping not everything is this kind of price haha
@@GreenoEats Just stay away from the tourist traps and you'll be okay
You have been robbed,is it run by Dick Turpin's clan? You could have visited a chippy near me and bought a Yorkshire fishcake for less than 3 quid and lam sure you would have enjoyed it more than the ponsified offerings you have just chewed.Interesting review 👍.
I hope to get up to Yorkshire before the year is out, so maybe will get to try similar great value fish and chips to what you describe!!
My family is from the UK and told me all about it since I'm here in the US. Isn't that Dodi Fayads business. Highly overrated
@@DanielByrnes-t6v Dodi Fayad is the son of Mohammad Al Fayad, who died in the car crash with Princess Diana. Mohammad Fayad used to own it but sold it a few years ago. It has lost its prestige and no longer holds the royal warrant. Of course, they need to keep the tradition going, but tourists have no idea.
It’s a very famous shop, and used to be owned by Dodi Fayed’s father, although now owned by the royal family of Qatar
That would have to be a special treat at those prices. Scoring was spot on 👍.
Glad you agree with me :-)
For that much I want the whole fish. All these celebrity chefs love talking about affordable food on their shows and then go and open restaurants that aren't affordable and offer tiny portions to boot.
I have no doubt the food is really well prepared to a high quality and tasted great but it is crazy the price to portion size. I would hazard a guess that much of that is to cover the higher than average wages and the cost of renting the space.
I think you’re right about he higher than average operating costs here, but I also think that the target audience are generally unconcerned by the prices…
Anything K£rridg£ costs mon£y ?
Well yes, but he is a talented and famous chef
@@GreenoEats Well yes but it's fish & chips and it will always be fish & chips but does having a chef (who was initially really enjoyable to watch until fam£ perhaps turned his attention to making mon£y ?) putting his name in front of it justify the cost here ?

Is there nothing similar to Harrods in Australia?
@@GreenoEats Hi Greeno....... hhmmmm probably not really, we have "Myers" which used to be a premier department store owned and run by the Myer family. It used to be very good with very good products and very well trained staff, but we down the toilet in latter years when the family no longer owned it. They used to have a well regarded food court etc but that went downhill as well. It was also multi store group not like Harrods. I see where you are headed with the comparison thing !
I just reckon sticking these so called "celebrity chef" places in a place like Harrods and then charging truly outlandish prices for what is really a snack on the run in preposterous.
As you said you did, (and I could), make a fish finger roll for a quid ........ One has to appreciate the pricing reflects the venue and the target audience (which, let's be fair, isn't me haha!!)
Its a rip off. Pure and simple. 2 fish fingers and 9 chips justified by preparing them for 2 days. What a lotta nonsense. Nothing like peeling potatoes and frying them fresh. And the cheek of adding a £1 cover. Glad you enjoyed it Greeno but seriously....
It’s a lot of money, but in Harrods it’s always gonna be. At least it was tasty food!
I love dining out and a good ale, but £85 to take my partner for a filled roll and a bottle of beer for lunch? I think irrespective of the branding and whilst perching at a cramped noisy food hall bar, you have been “had over” and in the meantime, wasted the equivalent of a week’s grocery shopping?
I guess if you put it in terms comparing to a weekly shop it does sound expensive, but then again so does all eating out!
Hi greeno that definitely didn't look worth the money you paid. You didn't get many chips either!
The price was high but that is expected in Harrods of course. But it was very tasty!
£9.50 for 9 chips! I challenge you to cook a meal for 4 people for that money. I can make a fish pie with 2 veg sides for that money
I’ve done a bunch of videos on my channel of food for less than a pound a portion, nothing as posh as a fish pie of course!
That looked yummy! I would have slathered more tartare sauce on the sandwich from the start 😂. I love tartare sauce. That meal was expensive though!
It was pricey certainly, but very tasty!
I'm sorry but the price was astronomical. It doesn't matter but only a mug sees that as a good deal. Xxxxxxzzz. I'll still follow you, but this was exceptional.
I didn't say it was a good deal - just that I enjoyed the meal - I commented a few times that it was a very hgh price, but also that it was the best fish finger sandwich I ever had!

Greeno, as a fish & chip conisseur I'd be interested to know if you've tried the M&S beer battered cod bites. Just had some for tea, I think they are top drawer for something you cook at home. Slightly pricier than average but totally delicious!!
I haven't tried them, but based on your recommendation I might!!
I have no argument for paying a high price for a treat once in a while, but that was just robbery that no highway man could or should get away with, and having the nerve to charge a £1 seating charge well that kicks the bucket. Why do you charge to sit in the place when you are making that much profit on every item you sell?
The cover charge really grinds my gears - it's literally money for nothing.
😅😅😅20 plus years ago, I was refused by all those eating places at Harrods just because they were about to close the shops. Now, I feel a bit better. What a rip o.. But sure I was once there and bought some stufff with Harrods logo on it. Enough.
Your food looked chicken finger sandwich... And actually, it is called fish finger... I was expecting a big fillet of fish, sticking out of the bun, but was not. Being humble??? The cover charge at that place? Why? Oh well, it is OK. The first time and the last time. We all need to experience something new as long as the life goes on... Or?
It's not something I would dounless I was reviewing it I guess, but it's only fair to report what I find, and although this was expensive it was also very tasty. The cover charge always bugs me, it is only a small amount, but it is literally money for nothing!
Amazing how busy it is with these prices.. With the cost of living crisis etc.. Money seems no object up there.. It irks me to put the oven on for half an hour to cook my Aldi cod and chips ha.. Good to watch though. Cheers
I completely understand where you're coming from, but I think this place is not designed for you and I!!
I think it’s all about volumes of people. It’s London. Harrods is always going to be a tourist attraction and they will naturally flock to these places to eat. The prices are extortionate and I will never complain about the mediocre overpriced Cornwall restaurants again (but then, I’ve stopped going out).
Yes, there are plenty of people willing to pay those Harrods prices, I went at 4pm assuming it would be a little quieter than lunch or evening service, how wrong I was !
Sorry Greeno, but that was a ridiculous price to pay, most of us can only wish a chance to go to Harrods and actually buy somrthing
It’s a weird shop to walk around, full of stuff at such ridiculous prices you wonder who buys it

Well I guess the target audience for this place are not really concerned about the prices
@@GreenoEats Even rich people get hungry
I'm not sure how it can take 2 days to make chips but does that justify charging £9.50 for 9 chips? It seems that for those of us that have more money than sense (I'm not in that group by the way) the answer is obviously 'yes'.
I can’t work it out either Gerwyn, seems a long time to make a chip doesn’t it!
If it's the most expensive, then it's got to be good. But not for me..I like the chef ,excessive prices , but it's quality. Why you pay more, plus it helps the economy as many have the cash spare for this level of dining. So never criticise it . Let the the others pay for it and we will go to Joe's down the rd. I cannot afford a Rolls so it's the same thing. Good review. I like reviews of my favourite chefs, most TV celeb chefs are good , why they are famous. You said it yourself , it's the best you have ever had. Hence the price.
Yes it was good quality. Would I do it every day? Of course not, I'd be bankrupt before long, I imagine I was the lowest net worth person in the restaurant 🤣
It’s London it’s Harrods so it’s always going to be top dollar. The food did look good quality though . I just don’t understand being so stingy on chips.
Could be a few more chips, but blooming tasty
In Australia that converts to $80.00, don't know what to say about that.
Pricey certainly, but very tasty!!
You will have to come up with slogan and cameraman or buy a dog and take with you please don’t feed it Ramsey or stein shit people love dogs 🐕
The RSPCA would have me up for cruelty!
Kerridge is a complete and utter fraud so this is no surprise. His TV personality is all about making himself seem like an ordinary down to earth bloke but he doesn't have a clue.
The guy somehow got a TV show during the pandemic supposedly 'saving Britain's pubs' but had to have it explained to him one landlord what a tied tenancy was, and that they couldn't negotiate their own prices for beer.
Well I suppose if he ownly ever owned a freehouse then the tied tenancy world would be a complete mystery to him lol !
I’m glad I don’t drink at those prices l prefer pub meals any day
If all beers were at this pricing I might not drink either!
Although there may have been quality, there was nowhere near £42 worth of quality. £9.50 for a bottle of beer, £9.50 for 9 chips. The binocular section at Harrods must be doing a great lot of trade!! I get that you need to give a fair review across the board Greeno, but even if I was shopping in Harrods, I'd have gone somewhere either more substantial, or a hell of a lot cheaper. Despite all that, it did look nice. 😉
I can only speak as I find it - and while it is expensive, and were I out for a day around London it might not be the first place I would pick to eat, it was delicious!
I would avoid Harrods by a mile!!!!!!!!!
It’s a weird shop to walk around certainly
Harrods for a fish finger sarnie! Fair play to you. It's nice to treat yourself to a luxury meal every now and again! Price is in line with it being a celebrity chef, in Harrods in one of the most expensive areas in the world!
I'd go with a 4 too
Yeah, more money than I would like to pay, but at least it was tasty!
iam not mug enough to even walk in that place its normal people trying to pretend to be posh
Walking in doesn't cost anything, but the whole place is designed for folk with a much higher net worth than me!
I'm glad you imbibe the spirits. If I am dreaming of a great meal, I like to add a drink as well. Great dining with you!
I just tend to order what I would like to have. If I am somewhere that I would have a beer, then I have one 🙂
Quite expensive but it is where you are, and it does look good , and the burger looks delicious 😋 enjoy ❤
It was all very tasty!
Well presented and maybe once in a lifetime treat unless you're very rich.
Yes, it's definitely not an everyday meal !!
As nice as it looked and obviously tasted it's not worth £42 all in-id rate it 3/5 overall 🙄🙄
Nothing in Harrods is "worth it" compared to elsewhere I guess!
Gosh, for the price of that meal, I could do a fortnights food shopping at the supermarket
Mad pricing, but everything in Harrods is
Well done Greeno on 15k plus Subs. There is just too much Harrods in the news lately and your video was so timely. Glad you enjoyed it there.
Thank, 15k has come a lot quicker than I expected when I hit 5k just a couple of months ago back 🙂
