We need to try and stop so many on line purchases or all our shops will be gone, just look at the high streets for evidence. Going out clothes shopping used to be fun with a friend ,maybe a lunch too. If the staff are trained to ask if you require help, why not just say "no thank you I'm fine",, and browse away without being rude? Keep smiling guys,Loving your Vlogs Hannah.

I took my mom and adult daughter to London in 2011 and we went to Westfield White City-had a blast, champagne bar in the mall with nice charcuterie. We loved it. Then my Mom somehow got lost. The mall is huge! Took over an hour to find her, lol.

Hannah, I'm here in the U.S. and they do approach us and ask if we need help. Bath & Body Works, Victoria Secret (obnoxiously), Sephora have closed some stores here in the U.S. and much of it is due to them carrying more lux items with big price tags.---People here are watching how they spend their hard earned money, more so. The basics are costing more. Things are not as they should be here.

You asked,,,, Eden, High Wycombe shopping centre, would be amazing if you could do that, just take the train from Marylebone to High Wycombe train station, also would love you to do Oxford City centre, please, please do. Oxford also has all the hamlets and small towns surrounding this, and would be a couple of stops after High Wycombe. Thame is amazing for you Londoners and very different for you. If, you do drop into High Wycombe, maybe visit West Wycombe to see the old medieval village and the Hell Fire Caves, you would love it! Would make excellent viewing if you could do your walk and waffle,,, I'm a walk and waffle fan of yours now! I am being educated on posh shopping with you! Great fun! Thank you. Trainers needed if doing this!
To be honest on this vdo, posh people are not like us mere mortals, they DO NOT do shopping malls, they are exclusive up towners, taxi, dive into the elete top shops, get treated like gods, spend enormous money, taxi home,,, done!
PS! The Chimes is in Uxbridge.

Have the rich left? Why do you suppose that would be, Hannah? Taxation? I have the feeling we are bridging some kind of transition periods. In Greater Vancouver we are seeing the beginning formations of what I believe is known as 15 minute cities. I prefer the more random historical remnants of organically growing old London communities you have already been showing us. They haven't been scrubbed of local flavour. So how has the micro needling worked out? I've heard of it but never personally tried. I find that the atmosphere in large shopping malls for some reason drains my energy. Maybe something to do with air handling systems and ionization? This Westfield Centre is certainly palatial. A good place to get your steps in when the weather is challenging? There is so much of interest I am learning from watching you tour the various retail scenarios in your great city. So much to talk about. Wonderful to see you again today, lovely Hannah! Take care!🌞👍❤🌹🦋🐝🐞🎈

Convent garden boutiques.. and Soho in it original form. Before I became homogenised... And life was paved over . I’m lucky I knew London. When it was interesting enough for up & coming creativity.. & I wonder if the Designer outlets. Are sick of the shoplifting.. I love your videos and your positive take on some obvious hideous offering’s.. 🌹

The only time I go into westfield white city is for the big boots store, waterstones (if they have the book i want), pureseoul, john lewis if i need something specific for my flat, and maybe the vue cinema for imax screenings. 😅 but when i do need food, I venture into the japanese supermarket where they have 👌🏽ramen - they do have ramen and rice bowls discounts on specific days and times fyi. :)
I’ve tried the bubble tea from bubblelogy out of curiosity. Wasn’t worth it imo. You’re better off getting bubble tea in chinatown. Honestly, I prefer walking around holland park / notting hill / marylebone area to westfield cause I get to pretend that yes, I do live in one of these pretty posh houses….. in my dreams. Hannah -- The parking charges are a rip off. No way! Westfield has other problems. The area is not safe. You may get robbed or knifed. No thank you. I'll avoid. Turning to something much more attractive in London, we turn to Hannah. She will brighten up your day. And much more attractive than the Shard or Natural History Museum. Whatever it is, you've got it.
I did notice Hannah that there are no crowds. Some businesses are empty. I take it these will be gone by next year. Cash is tight for most people. They can't keep spending £15 a head and pay their rents or mortgages, and fuel bills. Pretty woman, I have to go.

I like Westfield in White City, it is a little different to the bog standard shopping centre and also houses my favourite shop/restaurant Ichiba. When it first opened, Westfield was designed to be more like the American Mall experience, whilst the roof at Westfield reminds me of the O2 Outlet mall. Even mall management is changing with the House of Fraser group now buying a few shopping centres, they own several brands themselves such as Sports direct USC, Game and others. IKEA has brought the Churchill Centre in Brighton So the next decade of retail could be quite interesting with the Major retailers replacing financial institutions as landlords.

Hi Hannah, Intriguing view of the 'other side' of London. Thanks for sharing! I'm in San Diego, CA, and 'malls' are struggling on average. They all have some Westfield involvement, either ownership or management, and it seems that the only thing growing in mid-market shopping centers are the liminal spaces. High-end malls in the wealthier neighborhoods are doing better, with luxury brand retailers getting the best of it more and more. They benefit from the lack of major city-center competition. Hadn't really realized until you commented, but they do seem to have more food offerings now. Also, the top-end malls are in the process of planning and/or building office space and apartments and so becoming more mixed-use rather than purely retail. I would enjoy seeing how the biggest shopping centers outside London are evolving in comparison. Perhaps a walk around Milton Keynes might provide a good contrast. Otherwise more London, and areas like Hampstead please, with whatever activities appeal to you. I haven't been to the UK since the Nineties, and your videos show a fascinating glimps into how things have/have not changed since. Cheers!

I am from Toronto and can say our malls (even fancy ones) aren't busy either, however, the luxury brands are still downtown and that's where people shop. When I visited London in December, I did go - we were in Hammersmith- but I got a new phone case and tights at Primark lol.

Hannah, you are looking well and happy. I would really love it if you could dedicate a vlog and do a visit to Harvey Nichols. On my last visit, I seemed to have missed that shop. I know that you like to focus on Harrod’s and Fortnun & Mason, but maybe you could shake things up a bit?

It’s quite odd to me how quiet it is. I live in New Zealand and the Malls here usually have lots of people. It’s where lots of the teenagers will hang out with their mates. There’s always a food court and then majority of the shops are chains. Although now in New Zealand a lot of the shopping malls are becoming unsafe. Of course our Malls are tiny compared to the Malls in Australia, UK and The US.

I was in that mall pre pandemic. It was vibrant and beautiful as far as i remember . But i know it will fail eventually because westfield mall is starting to fail as lots of stores are closing here in los angeles. Maybe people have had enough of material things or because of netflix, food deliveries and amazon, people just want to stay home. I don't know I'm not sure....

This video was OK, but I’m not much for a mall anyway. You haven’t gone out to lunch with your sister for a while. Perhaps a different type of experience than just Tea.

What a beautiful mall! It reminds me of what malls used to be in the U.S. - bright, cheerful and inviting. Now, so many have lost their "anchor" stores and many shops have closed or been replaced by crummy, third tier stores selling cheap junk. I miss the good old days when you could spend the whole day just wandering around and looking at stuff. Great vlog as always, Hannah.

    Hallo from Los Angeles beautiful!
I never miss any of your videos, just love them. They are priceless because they are informative and entertaining.
Interesting to see your mall'. We have Westfield malls here in the US of course. Well, the way it goes, a lot of investors built a mall, securing high octane stores to occupy spaces, giving them great incentives. Then Westfield goes into managing the mall - and the rich people leave. I believe posh stores that are still there are contractually tied in and maybe they use that location as a tax write off. Basically Westfield is not South Coast Plaza (California), which is very well managed. Westfield on the other hand is considered just 'ick

Hi From California, Loads of areas in various west coast cities have empty vibes. Take downtown San Francisco for example, commercial real estate vacancies. How about Santa Monica- also barren compared to the old days. It seems this London mall has lost some energy. On the other hand here in CA Wine Country we see the smaller towns visited by tourists with most storefronts open. I’m referring to the Sonoma/Napa wine c. You can sit and enjoy the view while have a glass of wine at numerous places or explore curated shops, dining as well as places like local bars. Enjoying your essays.

I was there this afternoon. Agree that The Village hasn't really worked, and the empty units on the upper floor prove it. If you want top end designer in west London then you go to Sloane Street. On the plus side, it's always spotlessly clean and if you want a good M&S and a John Lewis, and a lot of other decent quality stores, it's a good option.

I have delved into this vid continually on my Friday evening - sad bastard - but as an ex-Hammersmith born Londoner, there are some uncomfortable truths to be stated, even if you don't.
If you build Europe's largest shopping centre in the centre of a progressively chav environment, what did you think would happen? I live 20 minutes away from one of the UK's top 10 tourist destinations - Bicester Village. It is what Westfield Village could have been, and it keeps growing (a future vid mayhap HR - direct train from Marylebone). Westfield will ultimately become a food and entertainment destination - it could thrive with this concept, but I doubt it. The Trocadero swiftly became a dive. The inner city is dying on the vine. Visit the powerhouses in Leeds & Manchester, smaller in size and 10 times more dynamic in ideas, energy and money. The London death star is rotting from within.......

The "malls" around us here in the states are going by the wayside. Our closest one (100 miles round trip for us) is virtually empty. A couple of restaurants and they have taken several store spaces, combined them and made a big game/video machines/things like that out of it. It is not very well attended. It still has a few shops, but not many. HUGE parking but not many cars there. It is in our state's capitol city and there are little stip malls popping up all over the place again through out the city. The downtown area is full of fun little shops, bistros, restaurants and things. That is what is happening to many of the malls here in Illinois and Missouri.
I totally agree about being stalked by store personal. Bath and Body Works is one of the worst! Ha!
That is a beautiful mall Hannah! Most here in the states are not as grand.

Mall rhymes with all for Aussies. We also call them shopping centres. Westfield in Australia also include supermarkets and fresh food. The bigger ones have Coles and Woolies (think Sainsbury’s and Tesco) one at each end of the centre. Westfield is so commonplace in Australia. Very different shopping culture compared to the UK

I'm an online shopper. Can't be bothered any longer, probably because I'm old. I even get a shopper to get my groceries and bring them to the car. However, since I'm picky about my fruit and veg, I go into the grocery store to choose my own. I learned that the hard way.
