Excellent review. I loved my BGD Magic for the first 2 years flying. I totally agree with this review that recommends starting with an A wing. The Magic provided ease and safety as I gained experience. I have now progressed to a BGD Echo 2 which feels like a natural progression from the Magic: Livelier and more agile and still with the ease of handling and launch and passive safety and quick recovery.
Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience! 😀 So glad you enjoyed your well-performing standard weight mid A (the Magic 1) and found it a great step up to the awesome lightweight low B (the Echo 2). Wishing you many fun flights and happy landings for years to come! 😃
At 6 minutes 30(ish), YES! This!!! "Beginners don't know what they don't know." The reason I can ground handle/pause an EN-C prior to launching, for as long as I need to... ...and yesterday, I ground handled my Moustache 18 half a kilometre along a beach, is....... (Drum roll please 🤣) ...because my instructors 28 years ago wouldn't let me do my EP test until I well & truly got ground handling right. They forced me to "know" that it's there, ON THE GROUND, where you can decide if you want to take off, or not. Cheers for now, Simon
Indeed! To be fair, higher-rated wings can be trickier to launch! 😉 Plus, not every pilot is flying the perfect match of wing or gear for their style or experience! 🤔
Ok, thanks for the constructive feedback! We actually test these aspects of wings a lot, but didn’t include as much of it in this video review. We’ll definitely try to include more of this going forward! 😃
Since your reminder, I’ve been filming loads of third-person stuff-ground handling, take-offs, landings, you name it! Today, though, while trying to handle the camera in tricky conditions, I managed to get a line across my face and cut my lip! No gear got bloody, luckily, but I had to stop for a bit until it stopped bleeding! 😅
@@MitchG No problem at all, totally my fault! Got a bit carried away trying to nail a tricky slope landing shot between two cameras to show different angles and how the wing behaves in stall. 🤓
Great review, thank you. The Magic 1 wing was also certified as PPG and the Magic 2 is not, maybe it's just marketing. Tell me your opinion, can it be used for PPG flying? Perhaps suggest a versatile class A wing.
Hi, Thanks for your Test & Review. Can you tell the difference btwn Adam 2 as I remember you tested that also. Both have En A certificate and are in the starting position. which one more capable to do XC or acro moves.
Hi! The Magic 2 is a great choice for pilots looking for better performance, with more agile and playful handling. The Adam 2 is perfect for those prioritising safety and reassurance, but it’s still capable of XC flying and basic acro moves, though with less energy. If you’re after more performance, manoeuvrability, and getting into acro, the Magic 2 would be the better option!
While yes you can do XC on these wings ... there is still a massive diference when you push on the speed bar. 4 years ago I can still confirm that anything up to high B, the speed bar is more of a "I wanna get down faster" instead of "I wanna get there faster".
What's the one main thing you'd like to have seen or heard more of in this review, and what are the main things you'd like to have seen done differently, better?

Ground handling can be a challenge for advanced pilots too. I've seen plenty of C and D glider pilots messing their launches

Perfect!, i Have the Magic 1, and really enjoy it!, thanks for the amazing video! :D
Pleasure, glad to hear you enjoy your Magic (1) and like the video! 😃
Please show more 3rd person footage of ground handling, takeoff, touch n go, landings, ect.

@@flybubblecarlo oh no! Sorry! But thank you for the extra effort!

Thanks for the review. Which do you prefer the Magic 2 or Phi Symphonia 2? And what would you say are the differences?
I have the same question, but more than which is better what are the differences. And also, what are speed ranges of magic2. Thanks!
Carlos, do you think it can be fly with pod harnesses? (thinking in making some xc with it)
Many good points on progression, hear hear!
Great, thanks for commenting! 😄
Love my Magic Motor!
Great, glad to hear it, thanks for sharing! 😃
