I think the amount should be free of cost because in the whole india we follow one rule 'atithi devo bhava' which means treat our guest like a god. 1200 is too much. You can usually take a train from Guwahati to Delhi for Rs.1200 ..But the scooter driver found a good foreigner and took a lot of money from him. Mac will have a good time in Assam this year.

Only a few people (maximum of them are out sliders) travel through rope way with high price when one can travel through ferries with only Rs. 5/-(Rs. 2.5 till end of last year). Probably for that they charge more. But in case of Mac he charges more than their usual price. Everywhere you will find different types of people. Hospitality of Assamese people is well known to all but this type of incident makes us unhappy and we apologise for this incident. So I request Mac to fix price, rent etc before using them.
There are already two bridges in Guwahati over Brahmaputa river . Old Saraighat bridge is double decker rail cum road bridge and other is for others vehicles .

That's The third bridge that you could spot actually there are another 2 as he mentioned running parallelly close together called Saraighat Bridge
