  • This compilation gives a glimpse of what it's like to skate the streets of New York with Ari Bortz ‪@thestutteringskater‬
    0:00 Intro
    6:59 Commentary
    These shots came from July 4th and 5th. We skated from 96th to Queens to watch fireworks the first night and the next day we cruised to the Lower East Side skate park, but it started raining so we didn't get to skate it. After taking the subway home we waited a few hours for everything to dry, then went back out at midnight and skated until around 2am. We hit Lincoln Center, Times Square, Pier 76, and few others before making our way back on the Greenway.
    It was an insane experience. There can't be a better city to skate than New York.
    Skates:
    Powerslide HC Evo Pro
    Nova 260 3x110
    NSC bearings
    Bont Avenger wheels
    Camera:
    DJI Pocket 3
    Full transparency, I think I'm an awful urban skater, but I have fun
    Don't try this at home

    Nice to meet you on TH-cam. I've been inline skating as a hobby for about 20 years. I'm currently 42 years old and it's been a year since I learned speed skating properly. Not much has passed. I want to run on flat ground at 100 km/h. That's my dream. Health and. I am writing this because I saw your video while training my mind and body and thought it would be helpful. Have fun and have a good time

    Love the vids! Could you make a quick video on high-tops (Ankle supports) vs.Speedskating boots? I notice you're rocking the high tops here and Speedskates in your previous NYC vids.
    I'm fine in short-track boots, but I can't make the transition from high tops to inline speedskates, even with the Rollerblade E2. No idea why - I have the ankle strength. I just feel locked in to proper speedskating form and I don't have the endurance to maintain it through a long skate or on rough / hilly terrain.

    Hi! I'm really enjoying your videos.
    Could I ask you a question? I've been dying to buy the Powerslide HC Evo Pro, but I keep reading that they are really uncomfortable. A lot of people say that carbon boots are more uncomfortable in general (I've never tried them), and PS HC Evo Pro are specially uncomfortable. What's your opinion about them? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • @JoeyMantiaOfficial
      @JoeyMantiaOfficial  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks! I don't find them uncomfortable at all, but I'll be completely honest, coming from speed skating where your feet get absolutely destroyed from time to time, my bar is not very high, so maybe I'm a bad judge. Regardless, I've really enjoyed them, even for skates that last upwards of 2 hours I've had no issues. I like how responsive they are.

      The HC Evos are padded with foam, no problem. Bring a sports shoe sole for prolonged use. My HC Evo Pros date from 2018, the new models have apparently changed (a little). You have to give it a try...
      The comfort is not comparable to low race boots !

    • @DaniFCamargo
      @DaniFCamargo 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@divac5410 Thanks for the answer! My current skates are PS Next, that's why I was asking about the difference between Evo (carbon) and liners. I like my Next, but after trying different methods for months, I haven't been able to make them fit my feet perfectly, specially my left foot's inner ankle bone.

    • @divac5410
      @divac5410 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@DaniFCamargo I have the same problem at the malleolus, same foot, inside. Regardless of the inline skates, my older FR Skates FR1 or the HC Evo Pro, even with a MyFit Ankle Protector (neoprene). The only relief is to cure with an anti-contusion balm with calendua, wrapped with cling film. Or maybe try with bootfitter. There is no inline skates in which you do not feel pain after a long distance or after riding hard.
      Have Fun, stay safe 🤙
