I have 1-2 copies on vinyl, awesome album! I’m only 31, but it’s clear that the mid-late-20th century had vastly superior music.
      - I mostly listen to 50s-70s, with a good amount of 80s, a little 90s, and just a SMALL handful of 00’s-2010’s songs.
(Finding good music released in this current century is almost a lost-cause, but there are some gems here & there).

So, you finally got to Nazareth (formed 1968)...Dan's voice was before Bon Scott by 5 years(1973) and decades before Axel Rose (1985)...yet he was the influence for that power, high, sustaining, raspy, knocks your socks off vocals. In fact, they were out the same time as Led Zeppelin, 1968. To me Dan's voice will always be right up there, if not number one, for power and emotion. When he sang you felt it. I saw Nazareth 4 times in the 70's...and let me tell you..live was incredible!

Copyed from the vocal planet: “Dan's voice in its prime, in the 1970s, was definitely something to behold; his signature being resonant, raspy fifth octave wailing akin to the likes of Brian Johnson, Dan's voice having a few extra benefits like being weightier, chestier, and his technique a bit more refined. Past his prime, since the 1980s, Dan started refining his cleaner vocals more, more often singing in a wistful tone and reaching into his surprisingly dark low register more often. Despite developing more areas of his voice, Dan never seemed to lose his ability to sound raspy, meanwhile accumulating quite the vocal range for himself over time. His health took a rather steep drop in the late 2000s, because of his smoking habits, and he retired from touring with Nazareth in 2013, lending his weathered but great voice for one last album "Rock 'N' Roll Telephone", leaving behind one of the most respectable legacies in the history of rock music. at 70-years-old, Dan claims he's still not done yet, though, as he occasionally still performs around the world when he can and has toyed around with the idea of another studio album.”

I tell you one thing, you feel that better with Dan McCafferty singing with his rasp than the Everly Brothers singing it. RIP Dan McCafferty….favorite lines: “love is like a flame…it burns you when it’s hot” 🔥 (he ain’t lyin) & “some fools think of happiness….blissfulness….togetherness, some fools fool themselves I guess, they’re not fooling me, I know it isn’t true, I know it isn’t true…love is just a lie, made to make you blue….LOVE HURTS” 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔

Wow, Beth, what a great reaction. And this is the music of my junior high years and I saw them live at some point then and loved it. But I love listening to this because the singing is incredible and also the background vocals are really nice.
And I loved all the things that you pointed out. And that diagram of the anatomy, by virtue of its simplicity, is actually I think one of the easiest to immediately understand compared to so many.
Although there is one slight graphical mistake in it, and it's where the line pointing out where the esophagus is actually passes on through the esophagus and back to the trachea. But it doesn't have an arrowhead on it and so I assume that's just a graphical oversight.
I'm a musician of many years but I always learn something new about singing whenever I watch your reactions and I just thought this one was particularly good, plus I absolutely love this song.

Yes, such an epic song. As a male, it makes my skin shiver. Love lost and love gained are just like ying/yang. I use it for a lost one from family and gaining a new one.
Having a Deep Purple member to help you out in early times was really helpful.

"Love Hurts" is a song written and composed by the American songwriter Boudleaux Bryant. First recorded by the Everly Brothers in July 1960, the song is most well known in two hit versions by UK artists; by Scottish hard rock band Nazareth in 1974 and by English singer-songwriter Jim Capaldi in 1975.

I've heard Dan was given the track to do the vocals but they were 2 octaves above anything he had sang before. It was an error but he pushed himself and found a new range of his voice. This song is magical.

Yaaaayyyy Beth, ye're finally gettin across the water tae the Kingdom of Rock n Roll, my home city of Dunfermline! 😃 Naz were good mates with my parents so they've been part of my life as long as I can remember. Dan had an absolutely amazing voice. Naz started as a SOUL band until one fateful night when Dan and a mate went out in The Toon to the Bellville Hotel, Johnsons if you ever clubbed over here, and Dan smashed his way through A BOTTLE AND A HALF OF BRANDY! THE NIGHT BEFORE A GIG!!!!! Well, when he woke up, very ill, his voice was screwed, he'd burnt out his vocal chords with the bad brandy! And THAT is how a Rock Star voice was born! Probably not advice you would give out in your lessons but that is what brought us Nazareth. Please check out MY rock star friends from the Toon now too Big Country, we've got more where they came from too!

My favorite version of this song is by Gram Parsons featuring Emmylou Harris, but this is a very close second. Both wring every ounce of emotion out of the lyrics.

Loved seeing Nazareth a lot back in the 70's. They were, along with Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, Boston and Foghat, seemingly playing every big outdoor concert every Summer.

When I got divorced and became a single parent I heard this song from when I was a little kid. My lord it brought new meaning to me. The guitar solo my lord it hit home. Five years late I met my wife now of 20 years and while I like the song still it lost a lot of its punch in the gut feel.

Never got to hear/see Nazarath live. Amazing.. If it wasn't for the clapping I would have thought it was the studio version.
This was a classic slow dance song of my era.. usually the next(or before) song that would play was 'Take My Breath Away' by Berlin(1984).
Dan had an amazing voice.. sad to hear he passed away only a few yrs ago.

Dan tinha uma voz potente e ele acertava a sua voz tanto no hard rock quanto na música romântica.E vamos ter que concordar os seos parceiros nos instrumentos eram bons demais.Sou fã desta que para mim é a melhor banda de todos os tempos.

Back in the 70s this song was played over and over, wore out the vinyl and my voice after breaking up with my first love, now at 62 years old I still wear out my voice singing it on karaoke night , it’s usually one of the last one of the night . This song and “Mandy”by Barry Manalow go together

I grew up listening to this song in AOR radio. Then I heard the Gram Parsons / Emmylou Harris version as an adult and _then_ became a fan of the song.
