Welcome from the great State of Washington which is where Queensryche is from.I just wanted to say thank-you for show casing some of Seattles WA best ROCK. Thanks
The whole band is underrated. Ed and Scott were probably one of the finest rhythm sections for their time. Michael Wilton perfectly complimented DeGarmo's guitar work.

To me, Ed, Scott and Michael would have been one of the best metal bands of the era on their own - but Geoff and Chris (guys who weren't really that metal) added that little bit of magic that made them the Queensryche we know. Michael is every bit as important as Chris, just like ed and Scott. It took all of them to be great.

Oh my gosh, YES! The whole HIGHLY acclaimed "Operation: Mindcrime" album! A masterpiece! One long story, well-told. Queensryche excels in the lyrics department as well! And Mindcrime is a tour de force, musically, lyrically, and vocally. A complicated, nuanced gem that never grows old for me even after three plus decades of listening to it. P L E A S E consider it, both of you?
what a joy it is to see the amount of enjoyment and excitement this video brought the 2 of you very vocally intelligent girls, I discovered this video about a year ago and have been watching every vocal coach/ musician reaction video I can and there only a handful that truly get how good this performance really was. Thank you for sharing your reaction.
I feel Geoff Tate and Queensryche were never as popular as they should have been. Another band in the same boat was Warrant. Jani Lane had an amazing voice, but got very little recognition. I have not seen any voice coach reactions to Jani's voice. Any chance of doing that in the near future?
Julia must be what I look like, when showing a music video to a friend, constantly looking over at them just to make sure they're getting JUST HOW INSANELY COOL THIS IS. Great video. Loving how much you're loving it.
As a Queensryche fan I absolutely adore watching really good vocal coaches just _lose their s**t_ over that first E5, and then again at the last. 😄 I loved you two rocking out to the sections between as well. Great balance of technical appreciation and enthusiasm! :D
I am a former classical singer and this guy along with Roy Khan of Kamelot turned me onto metal. I dated a professional opera singer awhile ago and showed her Queen of the Reich from the same concert and her jaw was on the floor after it. Whenever I want to be humbled about singing, I try and sing a Queensryche song. Geoff Tate is a crazy good singer.
What's also impressive about Geoff is that he's a baritone but shining in tenor range. Those E5 notes are perfection, he is truly one of the best singers ever in the metal world.

When they opened for the legend Dio, they were not very well known and they brought the house down and especially this song left the audience freaking out like “WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?!!” (In a good way). Geoff in his prime was a vocal BEAST with a 5 octave range. 🤘
Also to note of Tate's stamina, since this track was the second to last song in the set performance. In addition, this is pure natural ability as there was no such thing as "auto tune" in '84.
Very true! Geoff seems to have an uncanny ability to stay on key. Also, speaking of stamina, he once stated that he used to hit the gym hard for 6 months before a tour. It certainly showed!! These guys worked diligently to give the best show possible! I hope they know we fans recognized and appreciated their dedication that resulted in pure magic!! It did for ME anyway!
there was auto tune in 84. the technology just wasn't able to be utilized in a live performance but it was used in the studio all the time. we called it the "big knob box" because it was a box with a big dial on it you used to dial in the note. today's auto tune tech is sophisticated enough to auto tune a voice in real time so it is used live.

@@rbrebrook That's a major statement I think. Both unplugged versions are awesome! But Tate has plenty of inhuman performances. Watching him perform "Roads To Madness" live was INCREDIBLE.
@@benitokamelo252 I saw him perform Roads To Madness live in May of 91 during the Building Empires Tour, just a few dates before they filmed Operation: Livecrime in Madison & Milwaukee, WI. It was the first time I got to see them live (I missed them when I couldn't attend Ozzy's Ultimate Sin tour in 1986.) I was blown away by how tremendous Tate was live. I've seen some vocal greats perform in person on Broadway and the whole 2hrs+ of that show I couldn't get over how Tate sounded impossibly better the longer he performed. And he PERFORMED! He was mesmerizing on stage and not once did I think he he might have flubbed line or note . Roads to Madness,The Lady Wore Black, THOTF are no joke combined with Operation: Mindcrime in it's entirety plus a good portion of the Empire album. It's just mind boggling how talented Tate is as a front man and vocalist to pull it off night after night. That show is the best live performance by anyone that I've ever seen. And to think he had only about 6 lessons from Maestro David Kyle covering some technique. It's just raw talent on exhibition and most of us have been here for it since about 1983 😂 All that being said, I still think those two performances during the Unplugged session are a nearly perfect delivery.
Love FVM + Love Julia + Love Queensryche + Love Geoff Tate + Love this song = Like button slap of the highest magnitude. I knew I was going to love this video reaction immediately when i read the description. Thanks so much for sharing this! More please... ;q)..
This was such a fun collaboration, so happy to see two awesome channels sharing good singers and singing knowledge. Thanks for the double analysis in one video!
Geoff is classically trained. Maestro David Kyle was his teacher...who also taught Ann Wilson, Layne Staley and Chris Cornell. There's a reason those are some of the best vocalists in rock history. :)
Calling him "classically trained" is a gross overstatement. Tate just "started singing spontaneously", and as he didn't have the stamina to keep it up, he saw David Kyle half a dozen times (couldn't do more because he couldn't afford it).. So no, Geoff Tate was not trained at all. Here it is, in Tate's own words : th-cam.com/video/hN_PuYp--Eg/w-d-xo.html
I absolutely love watching anyone have their first experience with Queensryche. I really do. But I take extra pleasure in watching professionals who really know what GT is doing lose their minds when they see an absolute icon show his mastery. I highly recommend Mindcrime in its entirety. You really want to enjoy it off camera though.
Oh, this was wonderful! Watching the two of you together was so joyful! Two of my favourite music analysts together, reacting to the mighty Geoff Tate and Queensryche: such unadulterated fun. Julia's right about Silent Lucidity, BTW. Also, give yourself a treat and listen to the whole Operation: Mindcrime album. It's one story, with each song representing an episode. And, of course, Geoff is superb.
To see you anticipating her reaction is awesome,I love the appreciation you both have in this master vocalist,It warms my heart to see the younger generation discovering such great bands as these guys!!
I saw Geoff last night, he's 65 years old and he's incredibly the same ! You can't imagine how that sensation are amplified in live! He has got a perfect control in every note!
And remember, this was at the END of the concert, so he had sang an entire concert and then did this. Simply amazing. Love the reaction and the two of you together! So great seeing it!
I couldn’t stop smiling! You two are adorable! Julia. Looking at you, waiting for your reaction to Geoff Tate, jumping into the atmosphere was just classic! It absolutely is how I felt watching Julia break it down for the first time! Good stuff! I remember walking down the road with the original Walkman, listening to this cassette tape, full blast, and just completely zoning out on the amazing voice and the fantastic band!
Well, not one but two radiant gingers. Both so musically astute, and reacting to the awesome vocal prowess of the great Geoff Tate. So, this reaction video is all kinds of special. Please believe me that it was truly a treat from absolute start to finish. Feel free to continue to grace us all with your finely combined presence.
This video came out of the nowhere. Didn't expect something like this. What a joy to watch this. What a pleasure. Thank you both, Ladies!🥰🥰 So lovely. More Queensryche? Yea, please! More Reactions together from you both? Heck, yes! Have a nice and wonderful Weekend,Ladies. Best regards 🥰🥰
Two of the best together in one crazy video!!! O M G! This is a dream... don't wake me up pliz. Geoff Tate is an amazing vocalist and singer and I've followed this band for a long time, almost from their start as a band. But one thing that people often forget to talk about is his range. Sure his high notes is fantastic, but Geoff, when spoken, has a very dark voice. I love his darker, softer tone in songs like "Della Brown" cause you can hear the basenotes he has in his voice much more. There is so much more to Geoffs singing than this song and I truly hope you can react to more from him? He is truly one of the greatest in this genre Be safe
You two were as fun as I would expect! Thanks for doing that cross-over. Also the pair of you singing together, even for just a few seconds, was awesome
Absolutely the best reaction to this I've seen! I love how excited she was for you to experience this.

Loved the reaction on both of You. I remember watching Julias first time and loved see her waiting for your reaction to the different parts. I had the good luck and fortune to see them live during that tour back in 1984 - they were marvelous live.
What has always impressed me about Geoff Tate is that he's a baritone singing those crazy high notes....and can perform an entire show across that range. We can all sing for a short time at the edges of our range, but Geoff not only has an unusually broad range but also has the vocal endurance to crush entire albums out there at the upper edges of that range.
I saw them in 1991. His voice was perfect from start to finish. His voice doesn't tire. They played for 2 1/2 hours. I have been to many concerts. Stills ranks as one my top 5. It was surreal.
Queensryche the original lineup were always stellar on stage. The background vocals were always spot on . The whole live experience was something special.
Thats the best coop reaction ever. You two have such an amazing chemistry and appreciation to those little details we like. Wanna see more collabs. BTW you both are so pretty and fun :)
So rad seeing Lolli and Julia head banging rocking out like metal heads at 4:22 as they go into the first verse. I love the song and love their reactions. I have watched this reaction and Julia's 10x each so fun.
Wow! You've both presented this talent beautifully . What a great job you've done here ! Very well done! I enjoy when you explain what he is doing . Thank you !
Geoff Tate SOARS!!! I was lucky enough to see this tour way back when at L'Amour rock club in Brooklyn, NY! My jaw is still somewhere on that venue floor...
What a treat you two are to watch. I just love Julia and now I have another one (redhead) with glasses no less.I see Elizabeth commented also. Another one of my favorites. Great reaction and analysis. There is a live version of Silent Lucidity at the 1991 MTV Video awards show with full orchestra. His voice is amazing as is the whole band. Thanks for a great time ladies!
Here I thought nothing could make me happier than to see you reacting to ABSOLUTELY one of the best Queensryche performances possible. THEN, to my surprise, you had Julia Nilon on for an assist. You both are 2 of my favorite reactors! Such a treat. Thank You so much for that. Love the way y'all nerded out too. Awesome! Bye ladies!
That was a fun watch. Julia, you know that Brittney Slayes lists Jeff Tate as an influence, and our Fairy Voice Mother hasn't reacted to Tonight We Ride yet - or I wonder speaking of Tate, if she's seen Brittney's cover of Tate singing Queen of the Reich in a Karaoke bar after a concert.... could be fun. What a treat seeing you both in the same reaction!
I've watched a lot of performances live and on You Tube and I always go back to this as one of the best performance I have ever seen by a singer of any genre period.
DID YOU KNOW THAT HE ONLY HAD LIKE 9 9 9 ONLY 9 VOICE LESSONS...from the man known as the MAESTRO??? HE LITERALLY TELLS THE STORY ON TH-cam...He took lessons but...wasn't rich or anything...but took what he learned and PRACTICED THE HELL OUT OF IT...that's why HE IS MY FAVORITE...HE WORKED AND WORKED FOR THAT VOICE
What I love the most about this whole thing, is that Julia now is familIar with this song, and now she’s doing the same thing those of us did with her, which is be excited to see the reaction of the other person. Watching Julia look over at constantly to see how much she loves it and her reaction to the reactions is gold.

It's just raw talent on exhibition and most of us have been here for it since about 1983 😂
All that being said, I still think those two performances during the Unplugged session are a nearly perfect delivery.
Geoff Tate is still just as good. Had the privilege of seeing him live in recent years. Incredible!
Of all the reactions you've made this is one of my top 5 favorites. Thank you
I enjoyed the breakdowns and reactions. You both are entertaining as well. And you did some clever video effects and editing
Geoff is classically trained. Maestro David Kyle was his teacher...who also taught Ann Wilson, Layne Staley and Chris Cornell. There's a reason those are some of the best vocalists in rock history. :)
That is very good company.
No he is not classically trained they started during high school
He just has natural talent
@@ericarmstrong6769 he studied under Maestro David Kyle when he was lead singer in Myth. "They" didn't start anything at Interlake Highschool.
Absolutely love the two reactions at the 1st A5 note. Julia knows what's coming & is bursting with anticipation waiting for the reaction!!
And remember, this was at the END of the concert, so he had sang an entire concert and then did this. Simply amazing. Love the reaction and the two of you together! So great seeing it!
This makes me miss listening parties.. Sigh, the good old days. You guys are awesome and you definitely picked a great band to listen to.
Both of my red queens in the same video reacting to one of my favorite bands of all time. Heaven. Thanks, ladies! I enjoyed this very much.
YES, YES, YES!!
This video came out of the nowhere.
Didn't expect something like this.
What a joy to watch this.
What a pleasure.
Thank you both, Ladies!🥰🥰
So lovely.
More Queensryche?
Yea, please!
More Reactions together from you both?
Heck, yes!
Have a nice and wonderful Weekend,Ladies.
Best regards 🥰🥰
Lovely indeed. The ladies AND Take Hold of course.
Chris is underrated as a backing vocalist as well.
This might be my favorite reaction video ever... Not just Fairy Voice, but Julia's wonderful, knowing, reactions... just ridiculously fun to watch. :)
Two of the best together in one crazy video!!!
O M G! This is a dream... don't wake me up pliz.
Geoff Tate is an amazing vocalist and singer and I've followed this band
for a long time, almost from their start as a band. But one thing that people often
forget to talk about is his range. Sure his high notes is fantastic, but Geoff, when spoken,
has a very dark voice. I love his darker, softer tone in songs like "Della Brown" cause you
can hear the basenotes he has in his voice much more. There is so much more to Geoffs
singing than this song and I truly hope you can react to more from him? He is truly one of
the greatest in this genre
Be safe
Adore Geoff Tate! ❤
This is gonna be amazing! And I'm here for it!!
My heart skipped a beat when I opened this video and found two of my favorite reactors together. This was marvelous. Thank you.
Me too!!! But in my realm they have the TOP position!
Queensryche the original lineup were always stellar on stage. The background vocals were always spot on . The whole live experience was something special.
This was an absolute joy to watch. You two are incredible together.
Thank you !
These two together are great. And reacting to Geoff..pure gold. ❤
It's such a pleasure watching you enjoy this song and the incredible vocals. Lollis faces and moves in the beginning show how much she's dived in
Geoff Tate SOARS!!! I was lucky enough to see this tour way back when at L'Amour rock club in Brooklyn, NY! My jaw is still somewhere on that venue floor...
As if one gorgeous, charming, talented, knowledgeable redhead was not enough!!!
Love you both and was HUGE to watch you together...
The whole album is more relevant than ever today.
Awesome! Bye ladies!
Bad ass vocalist period! Chills!!
Geoff Tate had bring me to singing in the middle of the 80ies - Hes in my opinion the GREATEST singer on earth!!!
Great video girls!! I loved it.
So fun to watch this one! I love seeing someone discover Geoff. He's not human.
What I love the most about this whole thing, is that Julia now is familIar with this song, and now she’s doing the same thing those of us did with her, which is be excited to see the reaction of the other person. Watching Julia look over at constantly to see how much she loves it and her reaction to the reactions is gold.
One of the best reaction videos out there. Great job ladies!
Best reaction ever!
This is my favorite reaction of all time
AAAAAAA first Julia with Elizabeth, and nooooow with my favo-ry voice mother 😍😍😍 Thanks to Julia for picking one of the best songs by Queensryche, always wanted to see you reacting to this, Lolli 🤩
