Clarence is a better athlete overall but both of them are ridiculous. Their pissing contest represents the best in terms of competition and is good for sport
Those two poles do not look like they are made to support that kind of weight. They were rocking when he re racked with one plate. I'm with you, I would not trust those little poles lol
The gist of what he says throughout the video is "I just did XXXkg. Is everyone having a good time?! I'll be doing my personal best. Yay, I did it. I'm going to do 321." Then they explain what each colour weighs, talk about records and how hard 321kg is. Then he talks about how happy he is. It's hard to tell exactly since your screen covers half the subtitles.
The interpretation isn't that he is a mountain, but that he comes from the mountains. A very common Japanese surname. If he was Dutch his name would be "Van den Berg".
Whoever is in charge of those lights should have the crap kicked out of them. That is so insanely dangerous. If he was to have a seizure while that weight is on his back it would fold him in half.
I always like to watch the spotters. For safety I’d probably want 4 or 5 spotters with that weight just in case. This comes with experience as a meeting director and a powerlifter for almost 10 years in the 1980s. Ive seen a world class super heavy weight lifter 150kg+ take on 380kg + with only 3 inexperienced spotters and it ended badly. He tore a quad and collapsed - the side spotters were out of position and didn’t grab the plates instead trying to hold the bar which of course went straight through there hands. As a spotter I was also on the end of a 345kg squat by a 100kg lifter that went wrong. I was one of the side spotters and ended up holding about half the weight (170kg+) after the lifter lost balance and let the weight slip off his back rather than staying with it. With the lifter gone, the three spotters at the back could do nothing so myself and the other guy were left holding 345kg.
OMG - sounds horrendous. I have never really been sure what a spotter can actually do when there is such a heavy weight involved. If I'm in the gym, I never have spotters, but use the catchers on the side of the cage. I usually try to set them very close to where the bar will be when I go down.
@@JHMninja89 in weightlifting squatting without spotters at maximal attempts is normal. In powerlifting none of them can bail because they're all doing good morning squats lmao.
Pronunciation of Uesaka is basically 'Wesaka' because the vowels are pronounced separately, ooh-eh-saka, and the Japanese Uesaka website actually auto translates to Wesaka in English. But that sounds dumb so everyone who isn't Japanese just says 'Yoosaka'.
Why do they tell us in powerlifting not to arch the back and brace, yet you, in weightlifting, do it like that and you have the best squats ? Is high bar vs low bar explaining this cue or ?
Do you guys ever do half or quarter squats with heavy weights as part of your strength training? I used to do athletics, and as part of our weights sessions we went through a phase of that. When I went back to trying a normal squat, the weight felt so much lighter (compared to the half squats weight) that I easily smashed my PB. I reckon getting a very heavy weight on your back through doing half squats helps your body to adjust/get accustomed to handling that weight on your shoulders.
there are plenty ways to overload, best for 1rm are walkouts with 110%+. but box squats, high pin/block squats reverse banded squats are great too if you want more of the specifity throughout the movement.
Its probably preference. Most of the powerlifters are really slow in the decent, but than you cant bounce that hard. Use what you fits more i think is the best
