    At first I thought it's odd many powerlifters lift in flat shoes, but then I realized they do low bar squat and sort of avoid putting a lot of it on squats and don't need to squat as low, so they engage the anterior chain more. Makes sense they use flatter shoes in that case.

    • @AfferbeckBeats
      @AfferbeckBeats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      It's not that relevant of a comparison because weightlifters are never dedicating all of their energy to squatting, and peaking and tapering specifically to compete in the squat, nor do they squat in styles specifically suited to being most efficient at lifting the most weight by the rules of a powerlifting competition.
      Weightlifters are generally squatting at the end of a weightlifting session, or as a separate session in the day along with another session for more weightlifting specific exercises. It's also not that relevant for weightlifters other than supers to be pushing their squat well in excess of 300kg. It's a lot to recover from, and the law of diminishing returns comes into play for building a strength surplus. Top 77/81kg weightlifters generally squat around 300kg, and that's about where many weightlifters top out in the classes above too. For example Lu Xiaojun squats 300 at 81 and has snatched 180. Yang Zhe squats the same at 109 and has snatched 200. It's rare to see weightlifters squatting over 320.

      @@AfferbeckBeats your statement just supported mine, there in weightlifting guys like Mart Seim who probably squatted 400+kg at training and not in the top for snatch and c&j his squat for heavyweight can’t be compared to 490kg Ray Williams squat, it’s a bit different sport I clearly understand that and love the weightlifting even when do powerlifting myself, but in pure strength which can be compared by squats or deadlifts powerlifter ahead in numbers, I would disagree about your vision about training methods, many powerlifting and weightlifting programs have many common thing like volume and percentage, doesn’t think someone would max out on squat after full snatch or c&j session, numbers which athletes your mentioned was reached just several times in life, many top athletes like Klokov and others had told about their best squat which I’m not wrong klokov best is 320kg never ever I see something near that he squatted on video

      @@AfferbeckBeats Do you even watch Toshikis training videos? Or any other weightlifters videos? They all train back squats as the main movement on a seperate day, and then have additional squat workouts on other days after olympic lifts. Weightlifters squat as often if not more than powerlifters. They squat in the style which is the strongest for them. John Haack and Bryce Lewis are both world champion powerlifters who squat high bar like weightlifters, because it feels stronger for them. Stop being butthurt, powerlifters simply are stronger at squats.

    I've got a question, most webs say a natural can only gain 40-60lbs of muscle. So I started my bulk at 115lbs (169cm) and now 2 years later I'm 135lbs at 12% bodyfat (171cm and hopefully still growing). But if naturals usually gain only 50lbs of muscle, that would put my maximum weight at about 170lbs (allowing 5lbs for the several centimeters I grew since my bulk started). Is the 50 pound rule true or is it measured from the middle of the healthy bmi instead of the bottom etc?

    • @TroyHardingLit
      @TroyHardingLit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your genetic potential as a natural is determined by many factors. The best casual methods we have for estimating what your potential might be use measurements of the wrist, ankle, and height. You should be able to find calculators online that use such measurements with minor effort. What I will say, is that unless you are abnormally short (which you aren't), chances are good your potential will be a fair bit higher than 170lbs. You should have a good few more years of slower progress left, at minimum, before you hit any kind of ceiling. Great work with the bulk, and good luck!

    People who weight about 80 kg should squat about 250 kg. I'm 80 kg and I can barely squat 105 kgs. SAD.
