They performed in Dublin, lreland my friends and l loved the show. I still have the record.
I love you just the way you are...
Too bad they don't make music like this anymore.
Music sucks today. Now they prop up untalented singers using autortune
Supply and demand buddy. It is purely just supply and demand.
😅@@Nestor123057
No it is the way they used to pick singers and bands. A group or a singer used to have to work hard and have an audience. Now if you can impress a person on a reality show you get the big stage in front of America.
Usually that person has not worked and toiled in the trenches for months or years honing their craft. They just got on the biggest stage and impressed people.
Remember seeing bands at bars or some local festival? Some group of nobodies playing for little money. That is how mostly all of your great bands/singers used to be discovered. The movie “Jersey Boys” was how you used to get going, you played and some record company gave you a shot.
Now all you need is a face that people can see online.
@@josebrown5961 Yes, these guys, like the Beatles, came up the hard way and toiled in clubs and venues that were somewhat notorious. They definitely had honed their skills by the time they blew up.
My favorites Four seasons rag doll
Last night I saw 89 year old frankie Tampa and it was like when I was a kid
I just saw him perform on 11/18/23. He sang for nearly 90 minutes and put on a great show. Amazing stamina for a performer who is 89.5 years old and has still got it. God bless him.
Amen i love it Amen
My mom loves this song so much, she always turns it on everyday while she’s cooking, she’s always been a big fan of this band since she was younger!!
Just saw Jersey Boys and it was awesome.
Oh yes, sooooo wonderful 🎶 🎵
I never seen them live but there was a cover band called the jerseys and omg they soo good
I just saw 88 year old Frankie Valli sing this in Denver when I was there on a business trip. It was AMAZING. It's like he stepped back into a time machine and went and got his voice from the 60's. He is still so talented! I had chills the entire concert, it was truly that good!
A star never ends
I saw him in San Jose I agree he still has it
@@mr.blue7357 so glad you had the opportunity! He is one of the best! If I ever get the chance to see him again I will!!
Rusty Millio. The Mayor of Munchkinland
God bless him
This is an absolute masterpiece.
It certainly is! One of my favorite songs.
This record deserves a diamond 💎 jubilee (60 years) collectors edition to be released in 2024. This is one masterpiece destined to pass the test of time.
@Bob Donald #1 - this was written by Bob Gaudio in 1964 and Arrowsmith didn't exist until 1970. #2 - if they played Rag Doll it was a cover of this
No doubt about it
Agreed. It never gets old.
Clearly my absolute favorite Four Seasons song.
Makes me tear up every time I hear it.
Glad I'm not the only one. Such a magnificent song.
Me too.
Great song great singer
Great bass player too.
@@paulrickman7549 Nick Massi. RIP
NOBODY HAS A VOICE LIKE HIS THAT BRINGS BACK GREAT MEMORIES.
I'd bet $ that Bob Gaudio wrote for,Franki's voice.
@@warrenrosen132 Of course he did. He has said this multiple times in interviews.
Ain't it the truth
I remember when Oldies stations used to play songs like this, the Ronnettes, Roy Orbison, Elvis, Dion, etc, back in the 90s. I grew up on the Oldies. I would give much to go back to the 50s/60s to experience it first hand.
Elvis is a pedophile
Dear Kelsey, I grew up with this music and it still touches my heart. 💖
Same
So would I, all the best from the UK.
I think a lot of us share that fantasy. 🥰
An oldie but a goodie they just don't make classics like this anymore
People think I'm crazy but I swear I hear the beginning of the grunge era in this song & others by them
Imo it's very Phil Spector if anything
Yes ! Rug Doll truly memorable & treasure this song, cause song we use to sing & my High school classmates played instruments esp drum every school celebration we had was year,1966-67 I graduated in HS then proceed to my college in Lyceum of the Philippines,Intramuros,Manila.Every now & then do listen to RJ station often played this song & goes singing w/lyric,so happy remembering my HS classmates, love it & felt me kind of sad not seeing of them, since living in USA since,1985 to present 💝 😢😊
Their voices --- no one can do a version of this that would be comparable. The compassion and inspiration of their voices is outstanding.
Del Shannon did a very heartfelt version of the song. Take a listen on TH-cam.
a great time in my life, many days i feel that i am still living that wonderful life, I would recommend this music as therapy--trust me cheers..
Simply one of the greatest songs of all time. The lyrics, vocals, harmony and music. It has it all.
I have always loved this song. Every time I hear it the tears roll down my face. Absolutely perfect in every way. I can picture the love story behind it. Thank you Frankie and the boys.
You and me both.
Same here ❤
Am I a ghost? Can anybody read this? Maybe I am dead and in hell?
I see and hear...@@susanb2015
This was my favorite song when I was 9 and for some reason, I've always had a thing for sad, rag doll girls. Still do. I seem to have been born with a saving damsels in distress syndrome or some such thing. The woman I'm with now fits that description and she is the love of my life.
God bless. My dad was like that. That's why he married my mom. We've both been blessed by his grace.
Proper harmonies and you can hear the words. Couldn't ask for better. The 50s and early 60s had the best pop music.
I know. Their harmonies are angelic. Makes me cry listening to it.
Preach it, Sister!
Fellow doo-wop lover here too!
Disagree but good 50s-60s is great.
The early 60's were some of the last classic songs
The 4 seasons had many number 1 hits, but no million sellers, until they recorded this song in 1964, and the rest, as they say, is rock and roll history...
What memories this song brings! A forever a classic
After my wife & I broke up the 2nd time, I listened to this song. It was the chance we needed, we got married 11 months later (3 Dec 1988). We're still married almost 35 years later
Never will get songs like this ever again!
Once in a lifetime and thank God it was in mine.
Phenomenal song!!
These guys had many hits. But this was their master piece.
Along with Dawn!!!
This is my favorite. I love Sherry too but this is probably the fav.
Yes is was
@@ceeceetracey9839 Dawn and grease
I also like "Tell It To The Rain" as one of my favorites of theirs.
My husband's favorite song-he adored the 4 seasons. God bless you guys.
Number one in 63❤
Actually, it was 1964, the summer of '64 to be more accurate, June or July. "Walk Like a Man" hit #1 in 63.
Today's songs can not compare to songs of the 60's&70'S. That music was the greatest
Fabulous song by one of the best music groups ever
One of the best songs of the Four Seasons.
it's hard to pick a best one.
Frankie valli was never understand
So strong dialog, strength and delivery.
Plus easy listening and self absorbing
Truly their masterpiece, 1964, a great year for the Seasons, cemented their place in musical history. Will never be topped in my book.
This song means the world to me as far back as I can remember to the age of three and I'm 75 now I was always called a rag doll nobody wanted me nobody saw me I was just this person in the corner this song touches my heart and I am forever indebted to the Four Seasons for making me feel like I was seen
That was very touching. Thanks for sharing your memories 🙏
Something tells me that you are a special person, rag doll or not. With a heart like that I hope you found love xx.
Saw him at Mohegan Sun just last week..15pc band..his voice, at 87 is as clear and strong and high as ever..this, my favorite, brought the house down. Bless ya Frankie!
Avevo 17 anni ,che bei ricordi in Germania. Ora ne ho 76!!!
I had a boyfriend named Mark in the 1960s and this was our song. I wonder if he remembers me when he hears this song. 🥰😷💜
Im sure he does
He would for sure honey
If he grew to be a decent man, he does. I still think of my first girlfriend, who called me to the window from the alley below, and taught me to ride a bicycle. How can one forget.
You can sleep well knowing he most assuredly remembers you and this song. Sorry he messed up and moved on. I bet he is still kicking himself ❤️.
Definitely does
My Mom made me a ragdoll a few years before this song hit the airwaves. I guess I was about 8 years old when Mom sent me to the grocery store an hour before school and Ragdoll was playing on their outdoor speaker. I stood in the rain until the end of the song, just listening. Then I went into the store and got the groceries Mom sent me to get...I was soaking wet by the time I got home, 'had to get dressed for school all over again! Totally worth it, great memory! 💕💕
✌🏼🥲
I don't know why but this song always makes me tear up. I don't know why but it always gets to me.
Because it is genius...
You're not alone. Such timeless songs often touched one's heart, probably because the composers and producers had talent that enabled them to put into song something they saw or experienced.
These songs will never die! So many memories! ❤
THIS SONG WAS AND IS MY FAV FROM MICKIE VALLI AND THE FOUR SEASONS❤😂🎉
This song always bout brings a tear to my eye.
Frankie had a sound like will we will never see when he's gone. I love his music from the 60's to 2024
It sounds good like…. GOOD!
I can’t even believe it. I’ve been listening to these songs since before I was born. They were playing with me in the womb. And yet it is still as amazing as ever. Thanks Dad. My mom gets credit For old Cher and Meatloaf. 😂
@@cornholio324And I thought these songs were oldies and was surprised the group was still around on TV in the mid 1970s!
I was like fourteen when this song hit the charts!!! The four seasons were like a revelation at. that time.! One hit after another for like four years straight seriously 😳 part of my early adolescence 13 to 17 years old. Jersey Boys like me too N.Y. had the name but Jersey played the game.
I totally agree!
Well l was and still a rag doll, so was my mother. So yes this song jas me in tears. But l'm proud l was a rag doll. Yeaches u t b humble.
@@glendabradley661 Hang on Sloopy is equally as important to me. I love both songs, they got me through those hard teen years.
One of the all time best pop songs!
Just found out that Silence Is Golden was the B-side to this. What a 45!
Yes, many of their B sides could have been top 40 songs. My favorite was "Searching Wind", the B side of Bye Bye Baby (Baby Goodbye). Check it out on TH-cam. On the record, and as a child it was haunting, and I loved it.
@@Nestor123057 I absolutely love that one too. Great suggestion!
One of the most extraordinary endings in any song I know.
Fun! Fun! Fun! BB
The last line gave Billy Joel the title and inspiration, for his hit song, "I Love You Just the Way You Are". He was a big 4 Seasons fan and even imitated their sound in "Uptown Girl".
@@Nestor123057 Yes!
Agree; often cued the ending many times on the 45.
@@Nestor123057 true.
I love this song. Of all the numbers Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons did, this is my favorite.
The greatest group ever to come out of the USA!

One of THE best songs that this brilliant group did.....they r simply timeless ....60 years later and we're still talking about them.....says it all.......God bless b kind to each other ❤ love animals ❤ and yourself ❤
I have a homeless friend, I often have lunch with her. She's much younger than I am. She's very intelligent, very well read and pretty too, but you can see...People sometimes stare. I am proud to have her as my friend. I'm 64, she's much younger. This song makes me think of her. Lucky to have her.
By all means let Her know if You haven't already...❤
That was friggin gorgeous friend.
It's a different world these days....

Love the 4 Seasons and Frankie Valli voice is unmistakably unique. I saw them many years in Chicago great performance.
Growing up in the 60's and only station we had was AM Oldies...Songs like this one are etched into our brains because we heard them over and over again..Still Love all of them and can sing along with most of them..Those were ther days my friends.

Kudos to the boys for scoring a NUMBER 1 song smack dab in middle of Beatlemania!
Because the Beatles suck
Number 2 uk
Number 1 in the country that matters.

@@TurboMountTV and what country might that be ,usa ?.you cretin..Herman's hermits kept it off the top here..oh ..and they kicked your ass too as I recall.
Their best song....and the B-side was excellent - Silence is Golden.
I heard this on a 60s Gold radio station the other day - and if a song can ever be called perfect - it's this one.. the lyrics, the arrangement, the harmony, everything.. it's timeless. One of the great songs of the 60s - and of all time.
The opening harmony and drums is perfection.
My grandpa told me about the song I still remember to this day
The first time I heard the story, it was a $50 bill.
No matter. The sentiment was still there. It might as well have been $100 considering what year it was. It was still a lot of money.
The Four Seasons story goes back a long way with me. One of my earliest music memories goes back to the early 60s.
I was all alone at home for some reason. Or, at least there was no one in the room to hear me.
A Four Seasons special came on TV. It started at the very beginning of the broadcast, so I didn't miss even a minute of the introduction.
And, with no one there to tell me to change the channel, I sat up close to the screen, and got to watch it to the very end, too. That was rare.
One of my first few vinyl LPs was a Four Seasons record. I played it over and over again. It was a comfort to my soul in those trying times.
I dont know what my life would have been without that music. But, I do know it wouldn't have been as good.
Thanks
After all these years they still sound good
This defines harmony.
The lead is so strong, one tends to not hear the backup vocals, but, yes. If you listen, they are really working the harmonies.
Got to me in the 60's, still gets to me
Maybe it takes having loved a rag doll to fully appreciate this masterpiece. I did. And when I did, I did not see a rag doll. I saw a beauty. I close my eyes and she still glows. She always will.
Beautiful sentiment. Thanks.
Every time I listen to this song, not only am I amazed with their singing voices. I also like the muffling sounds of the snare drums as if they’re creating punching sound effects.
Epic. Feels so much longer than 3 minutes. So much going on.
Ah, the four seasons. The best all-male singing group of the 60's. And you can't or ever will change my mind.
Techno Kirby there good yeah but not a scratch on the beach boys and there no where near as good as the Beatles.
FS, BB, or B, they all have their special talents. They for sure rival each other through songwriting and vocals. But you HAVE to listen to Because. And Deidre. One of them may be better, but opinions aside, they rival each other.
@Jacob Schwan who cares about age? we're still listening to the good stuff, all ages.
The Beatles?
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU!!
I believe this is the most underrated song ever anywhere!! This is a gem of a song tell me im wrong😁
Genius without a doubt.
I cannot tell you you’re wrong. I would have to go to hell for lying.
It wasn't underrated. In 1964 it was #1 on Billboards chart for 2 weeks.
You are forever RIGHT!!!! Perfection achieved.
Hand claps. Is there anything that makes a song more personal and accessible?
One of the prettiest songs i ever heard !!!!!!!!
Leaving the Beatles aside, this is one of the nicest songs of 1964.
"Ditto" totally agree!
My mother from the 60s loved this song.
I heard this on the radio this morning before going to school and it's been stuck in my head all day, I had to find it, I knew the four seasons sung it
Great radio station you have😊
My favourite from 1964.
1964 was quite possibly the best year in pop music. I know. I was six years old and transfixed to the radio. The sounds that were coming out that year will never be matched. It changed music and American culture. I know it affected me.
Saw him in person he was great place went wild with rag doll
Best song ever! reminds me of my teenage years, spinning around on the 'Waltzer's' happy days ❤
Definitely my favorite Four Seasons song. Some very good high-pitched male vocals here.
I have followed the 4 Seasons since their inception in 1962,starting with the first hit Sherry
Mit das beste was es gibt
Brings back a lot of childhood memories. First favorite song.
My eternal fovourite group.Never die.Amazing.
If you grew up in the 60's listening & loving harmony groups, The Four Seasons had to be with your top favorites - if not the favorite. When I came to background harmonies (that I love), they were masters. From their very 1st 🎶hand me down🎶they stopped me in my tracks.......0:35 - 0:45. 60 years later, I'm still listening & loving them - even more ♥
The glorious sound track of our youth, song after song. How lucky were we!
One of the best group ever. They were amazing I still love to listen to this band.
Greatest Love songs of the sixties....
I was that raggedy girl-when this song came out I had just hit my teens. My Dad was disabled and my baby brother killed in a car accident. We became impoverished literally over night. I was a pretty girl and it angered other girls that the popular guys were attracted to me. I was really put down and shamed for my ratty clothes and run down home, but there was a sweet, kind boy who saw past that, even with his friends and family trying to break us apart…I’ve been married to him since 1975 and he’s given me such a wonderful life…
Love and blessings to you and your husband.
May God bless you both
How lovely, a happy ending ❤
How lovely, God is our saviour, always believe in the 'faith' ❤
Oh how lovely, life can be very kind, God bless you! ❤
Classic track from the Four Seasons' listening once again 🙏
This is “Singing”❤👏🏿
I am sitting here listening to the 4 season's. Haven't heard for a long, long time. I love, love, love them. Brings back memories. Wish I could go back to those days ❤❤❤❤❤
I DO TOO LORI, LOVE THIS MUSIC BRINGS SUCH GOOD MEMORIES.... GOD BLESS
So am I. I am missing those days dearly and may cry in my mind...
Wish I could go back to those fun days....
Remember Mum and Dad used to say enjoy yourself now because tomorrow it may all go away. It took a bit longer than that but it did eventually.
Many fond memories
"Rag Doll" is one that really emphasizes the boys' tight harmonies. So great!
I love the Beatles and everything after yet I consider this one of my favorite songs of all time.
Beetles? Wtf drugs you on this is 4 seasons
They just don't make music like this anymore. REAL MUSIC !!!
I never left this era, My boys 49, 39, and 36 this all they play, so I must have DONE, SOME THING RIGHT.
The story behind this song is classic. According to Bob Gaudio (the co-writer), he'd stopped at a light in Manhattan on his way to the studio, when a young girl came up to his car and began washing his windshield. As the light turned green, he fumbled for change, but found nothing smaller than a ten-dollar bill. He said he couldn't just give her nothing! So, he gave her the ten. As he drove off, he looked in his rear view and saw the girl still standing there, in the middle of the street, staring at the bill. The image of that girl, in her tattered clothes, was so powerful that when he got to the studio, he immediately began composing this song. The rest, as they say, is rock 'n roll history.
All great songs touch the heart ! This one belongs among the top 5 in the world....
Great story
I hope this is true...
What a beautiful story behind an amazing song!
Holy smokes, 10$ in 1964 is like 90$ today. That girl had to be starring at that bill for a long time.
Love this song. Love all their songs. Frankie valley ..the best music. Ever. .
