l just hope most of our people will take the message in. Kudos to you my Yetti. We need to allow God to use us to change the country instead of complaining. Scary but with God Notting shall be impossible
I took it upon myself to go to naija with my wife. Our parents did not want us to go, they did everything to discourage us, but I persisted. Long story short: I love Nigeria, i didnt want to leave. I felt at home, like Nigeria was giving me a big hug and didnt want to let go
I married my husband in Nigeria, that is where he is from. And my family was not happy about it. But what mattered was that I love him and I had the most wonderful time. I didn't want to leave, I cant wait to go back.
Interesting take but not complete. If you're planning to move to Nigeria do your research. Visit for at least two summers and immerse yourself in the culture before you do. Can't help but notice vid was shot along Adetokunbo Ademola/Ajose. I moved back 6yrs now and I must confess the only reason I've survived this long is because I had a family home to move back to in Ikoyi with consistent electricity (grid & generator). In addition my job was only 7mins away from home - so yes life was rosy until I made a decision to move away from home. I wasn't sent packing, I just chose to be an adult and move our. Talk about learning experience. First, my office moved so I moved 16mins away from my office but it takes me about 75mins to drive the same distance at rush-hour. Mind you most of my colleagues have it worse - driving no less than 3hours each way to and from work everyday of the week. Add to this the fact that most with a steady job cannot access a mortgage as you can in the West, so you have to pay rent which is collected 2yrs in advance. You can't trust anyone to come fix things for you & charge you a fair price. First you're sized up and billed accordingly e.g. your vehicle breaks down, the mechanics fixes the ailment then causes another just so you return soon. Finding a job on merit is hard because there are simply not enough jobs for eligible graduates (except of course your parents are well connected). Staying in the job is another, there's what's called "the Nigerian factor". It means a lot of things to a lot of people, but simply put it means you will be faced with compromising your values and ethics more often and more blatantly than you may have been in the West. I've a lot more to say but TH-cam won't permit me, but my point is do your research before moving back.
misidee God bless you for telling people that harsh reality and not sugar coating. wish I'd known that a long time ago before choosing to relocate. I relocated because I'd come for ONE summer. ONE. and had the time of my life. when I came back, it was onset of the recession. I'm glad I have my family house to help cushion the blow but still would love that freedom..the only thing that has helped me is the grace of God,my job and my lovely boyfriend 😘
misidee the compromising values bit is so true! Nysc taught me a lot. the corruption in politics extends right down to the small organizations, astheres corruption and politics as well. it's just the Nigerian mentality that's the main thing holding the country behind I kid you not. if only they can be brainwashed. lol. this country would make a turn for the better. but that's not gonna happen, cus the moment someone genuinely wants to do good for the country here come the crabs In a barrel to pull him down
This was a useful read, could you please expand on this if it's not too much of a hassle? I'm considering moving back home, I'm currently in my early 20s but havent lived in Nigeria since I was 9 so I'm stressed and have all these incorrect generalisations of home
My point is, if your job is 16mins away from where you live, why not get a bicycle or a scooper, just like they do in the West. Help make your life less-stressful.
If you don't want to come with an open mind and you don't want to unlearn somethings to relearn in Nigeria. Then you shouldn't consider relocating back home.
I totally agree with your video. The whole world is a dangerous place so we must use precautions and live in it wherever we are. The media say negative things about Mexico. My son and I live near the boarder in Texas. We cross over to Mexico regularly, have a great time and meet friendly people. Thank you for real life information.
You made a very good point and all you said was right . I hope 🤞 parents ( including me) encouraged our children more on knowing & visiting their roots on a regular basis. God Bless you Yetty Mama- Amen 🙏
Yatunde, you’re exceptional! I have been stuck in your channel, watching your videos every day. I love your perspectives…keep allowing God to use you change the world around you. Love you sis
The scenery looks so good. I'm thinking of moving back to Nigeria later on in life. In the meantime I've just been doing research to see what's happening in Nigeria an developing my own ideas of how I can help develop and build up our country. You've inspired me so much with this video, thank you so much.
LAD EMA I am Angolan too; who lives in Houston, Texas and love the Nigerian Culture. How long was your visit to Nigeria for? What brought you there? Do you plan on living in Nigeria ?
Hi there, so amazing to find a sister in here who appreciate Nigeria also. I currently living in London, have no plans of moving to Nigeria however do travel there yearly for Ministry purposes.
LAD EMA. Wow that's great!! I am so happy to hear that you are spreading the gospel over there! The Lord will see you through! And Yes at the end of the day We as Africans are all one. I definitely plan to visit Lagos, Nigeria in a few years can't wait! This year I will be going to Luanda, Angola so excited!!
Yetunde you are really doing a good job and you also made a valid point. but the issue is that many Africans are reluctant to return Back home for various reasons. especially after living in a developed country for over 5 years, where you easily have access to basic life amenities.i am guilty of that even though i plan to return to my mother land the congo dr some days.
Hi Yetunde, i really like the fact that you seem to be British and have grown up in London. But you are documenting Nigeria as yourself. I fee like you can relate to both worlds (London and Nigeria). I like your style. It's really interesting.
Based on the title of this piece, i thought I was about to hear some privileged black Westerner rag on Africa and Nigeria. Pleasant surprise to hear a thoughtful nuanced take on a topic of interest throughout the African diaspora.
You speak truth my mum is trying to put me off I have children 2 & want to move but my mother tells me how dangerous I can't wait I'm going anyway, she's that kinda scared person & wants to put that on me but I can't be afraid of my home even though I was born in London I understand & can speak Yoruba although with a very British accent as I grew up in Richmond it's been my dream Togo home & make a difference to the young people I can't wait I can't watch my children not be cultured & no appricate who they are & where they are from if they don't see how will they know so I'm going to show them plus with my lack of everyday speaking Yoruba the only way is to spend a few years of there childhood in Lagos, I have quite a big family but am wary as even sometimes it's your own you cannot trust but I'm optimistic they see me as there sister why should anyone want to harm me when I want to help people I have to try at least otherwise I will just be one of these who never see & never live what they want & that can't be my portion lovely vlog nice hairstyle
Exactly. thank you for this. I do plan to come home for good. from the moment I came here I've missed home terribly. it's funny because I actually missed shouting up NEPA howbowdah lol. anyway you're lovely thanks for this
It's great to see video like this what you say it's great it's time people learn about they motherland be proud where they from the media has played big part of showing bad side it's great to see our brothers and sisters in the west vlogs just like we doing in the east im planning to go there how life in Nigeria? Also planning to see my country Somalia it's time to invest in Africa show the rest of the world we have the best not the worse they show on TV hope we all unite just like the Europeans rebuild Africa 😊loved the video
Hey Yetunde! Love your videos! I was wondering whether you could do a video on finding a job in Nigeria? As in, just sharing your personal experience? If not that, could you do a video of maybe top 10 things a returnee (born and raised abroad) should do in regards to preparation for moving back to Nigeria? I know I just did the most and asked for so much, but I plan on moving back to Nigeria once I complete my Master's degree and I what to hear your take on the whole thing. Thanks!
+Eyek Ntek Hey, I can absolutely do a video on finding a job, my experience may not be the same as what others will face but I'll also talk about what helped me and what I think could help others, thanks for your suggestions :)
Lol smh, I actually miss the place already 😩 imagine, London is chapping bruv! Could have done with one more week tbh lol. On point vid/topic 👌🏾, kudos to you and your camera man, I should done a feature! Lol...From your no longer 'nervous' cousin lol x
+Miss P Aww I'm soo happy to see this, and I'm totally not looking forward to a freezing london, kai!! Thanks my love, really glad you've had a better experience :)
Jeez! It's really been like agez Yetunde since your last post...was even beginning to ponder’ you'd given up on your Nigerian "adventure" so soon...Being a British-born Nigerian myself I must say I'm so proud of what you are doing here in Lag...I also see you shot this Video in VI about a stone throw from my Lagos office. I was just wondering if we could get to hangout sometime soon if your available?
A lot of high -skilled workers are needed to build Nigerias infrastructre in everyway....Engineers of all types in particular!!...Nigeria as a federal government and state govts should incentivize educational travel in the key areas it lacks OR allow Schools to come in and recruit and train students in different areas. NIGERIAN GOVT HAS TO START INVESTING IN THE PEOPLE.....we leave Nigeria and excel in other countries...very sad!
Click baiting eh, Yetunde? You got me 😃 I was in Nigeria in Oct., and my mom had to beg me not to cancel my return flight back to the States. I wanted to stay for at least one more month in Nigeria...I still haven't completely shaken off the nostalgia.
Your headline is very misleading! It suggests that you don't fancy staying in Nigeria... When In-fact you recommend people to come and visit. Good video, misleading headline
I really like the way the video was filmed! I can't lie I kept looking at the background hahaha! The background was lovely! what part of 9ja is that? Do you have a contact email at all? As always thanks for sharing

There is just one ?, you wrote "Nigeria is not for me!" shouldn't the eslamation mark be a"?" ?
It sounds like you don't like being there yourself.
No disrespect!
+Johndominic001 Dominic Thank you!! I love being in Nigeria, the exclamation was in reference to those who say that as opposed to how I feel :)
Enjoyed

Not surprised at all I don't blame you gal .Afterall lots of Nigerians born and raised in Nigeria are leaving in droves too searching for a better life elsewhere.
Petro Jenkins You didn't watch the video now, did you? Or are you a little slow?
Nigeria is not for anybody LOL
Come and stay in Ghana
you can get kidnapped in London,
na whats she talking about,
all black people don't come from Africa
The location isn't right for the topic, you could have used Ajegunle for the background of this topic...
omotayo oni why?
Let's the world knows the ugly side of Nigeria...
And Ajegunle is prettier?
Abi na, its prettier than Ikoyi. Are you a learner? Stop acting like omo butty here, abeg...
omotayo oni shut up you're full of shit
keke na peper
What are you anyways ?
She says this is for people who want to come back to Nigeria or Africa in that matter!
Why do people most of the time mention Africa as a country instead of a Continent? It is seriously annoying. Africa is the second largest Continent in the world. Come on People!
