Robert Plant's singing idol and greatest inspiration is Elvis Presley. Led Zeppelin were in awe when Elvis Presley granted them a two hour audience in 1974.
Elvis was everything to Page & Plant. Page was inspired to play guitar when he first heard Elvis' "Baby Let's Play House." During this era, both Zeppelin and Elvis shared the same concert promoter.
In the 1970s, Led Zeppelin were considered the greatest hard-rock band in the world. When you watch them perform live, you can understand why. Their concerts at MSG were legendary.
"His voice is so unique" yeah no kidding, robert plant might be the most unique singer ever (and jimmy page might be the best guitar player aswell) thats what made led zeppelin such an all time rock classic.
And don’t forget arguably the best rock drummer of all time. And also don’t forget one of the best rock multi instrumentalists (and great bassists) and musical arrangers of all time. 😉
I highly recommend Dazed and Confused from the same show it’s 30 minutes of them just jamming and it’s wild to see. I also recommend the 1970 Royal Albert Hall version where Roberts voice is a LOT more powerful. When you get into Zeppelin you realize not one performance of the song is alike and that’s what makes them the greatest.
I lost my sweet 93 year old mother this morning and I said, self, who could cheer me up and it came to me....Dani and her reaction videos! So here I am!
Omgoodness Rick. I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. Sending you love and prayers. She is your guardian angel, always with you now. I am honored to think I could be a positive light in such a tough time.
This particular performance sounds even better than the album recording, imo. On that note Dani, any song from Led Zeppelin "IV" is worth a reaction! It's phenomenal.
Its great to see u for the first time led zeppelin best band ever and ever will be led zeppelin they are truly untouchable master's of their instruments master's of rock and roll their talent is from the mighty god
I was at that concert back in 73 at MSG. The last show of they tour .They were filming this show for the movie TSRTS . I was 16 at the time , now 64 !!!. Seating in the 9th row center orchestra for $9.50 . LED ZEPPLIN , change my life forever that night. THE GREATEST ROCK N-ROLL BAND EVER .
The Mighty Led Zeppelin all met in 1968 Page and JPJ already knew each other from session work, Plant and Bonham knew each other from Band of Joy before. It was magic as soon as they jammed for the first time. Page had an incredible vision and made two albums in 1969 alone, one beating out The Beatles Abby Road on the charts. Not too shabby lol. As a guitarist myself I always idolized Jimmy Page and if you notice in this video, His right hand was picking every note.
I have been a Zep head since the age of 10. I probably know more about the band, then the band itself LOL... Your comment about Robert Plants voice sounding like an electric guitar. His vocals are so different from any other singer, it is impossible to compare it with any other singer. So your comment about his voice sounding like an electric guitar is the best description to give if ever asked to describe his voice. I will be using that analogy from this day forward :)
And you didn't mention John Paul Jones who is an incredible bass player. He was a session musician before Zep and is widely regarded as one of the top rock bass players ever and is hugely influential. He was definitely the best technical musician in the band. The talent in this band should have been criminal.
@@DaniAtkinson no need to apologize. 😁 Btw I love your attention to detail in your videos. There is indeed a lot of mimicking between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. It is a staple of the band. And not super conventional. They were not really "in the pocket" players. Bonham and Page do it a lot too. I think it's a very cool formula/philosophy 😁
You should check out the rest of this 1973 concert - it's great - particularly Since I've Been Loving You - unbelievable. Also check out their reunion concert from 2007 at the O2 Arena in London. Their drummer died in 1980 and their disbanded. 27 years after they disbanded they got together for a reunion concert with the drummer's son and they still are GREAT!!!
One of my greatest regrets was never seeing them live back then. I live about an hour south of NYC, by train, and did get to a few concerts at Madison Square Garden, saw Queen there twice in the early '80s, but I missed Zeppelin. They played there, and Nassau Colliseum, multiple nights during the '70s. As someone reccomended watch "Dazed and Confused" from that same show, bring a drink and a snack, it's about a 30 minute masterpiece.
@@HeavyBrocks Yes, they played Nassau Colliseum in '72, Madison Square Garden '73 (the movie 'The Song Remains the Same uses footage from those shows), Madison Square Garden and Nassau Colliseum '75 and Madison Square Garden '77. Close enough.
They do a song called dazed and confused and if you hear the studio version you will hear the singer and the guitar doing this back and forth mimic and the bass and drums doing the same they are all going back and forth you will just. Have to give it a listen to see what I mean

yes agree with Shannon, somehow this live version is even better than studio one which is awesome anyway, but this is what makes a truly great band. Dazed And Confused , is another killer mainstay of their concerts too.
