I flew the JL 763 from Brisbane to Narita in Jan 2010. It sticks in my memory because as we were taxiing, and as ground staff in Brisbane were bowing 😂, the captain announced their sincere apologies for the inconvenience of Japan Airlines declaring bankruptcy… not something you hear from the flight deck everyday 😢. The aircraft itself was absolutely immaculate. Economy seats were in grey fabric - much nicer than the black ones on this aircraft. Lived in Osaka for 2 years along a Hankyu line…many memories there. Definitely feel the pain of those small hotel rooms when traveling with a plus one 😅
I had the absolute privilege to fly on a JAL 767 from HND-HIJ in January this year. Love the fact that JAL have on-the-day J Class upgrades! I get them every time!
Amazing trip report Jayden hope I can fly on one of these 767s one day since these birds are getting more and more rarer to fly on especially in Australia
Another excellent report and vlog - I love Japan. ✈ I always watch your videos to the last second so as not to miss anything. Today I laughed so loudly about 6'4 needing your love and attention! 😄 I'm sure you obliged.
I can't get enough of your Japan travels. Nice shout-out for the Belgian waffles at 3:49 - one big difference between the West and Japan is the 7-11 stores. The food is SO much better there. That pork belly sandwich looked so good too! The flight crew was nice but bummer you couldn't get a window seat. I'm not sure what food that was at 17:10 but I want it now. The sushi place looked awesome! All the food looked great. Please don't neglect 6' 4" anymore, he's a good man. 🥰
The international version of JAL's 767, which is with the sharklets on each wing, are common within Southeast Asia and Pacific flights such as Honolulu, Vancouver and Seattle. All are operated out of Narita.
i don’t know which i enjoy more, your flight reviews or your travelogues. Both excellent and very informative. It may be interesting to get a few opinions from 6ft.4 as I am assuming he hasn’t travelled extensively before and his input may help a lot of first time travellers. Only if he wants to.
Great video, Jayden! I always love the great JAL service both on the ground and in the air. I am always surprised at how spartan their domestic lounges are compared to their international lounges. I do agree the Belgian waffles from 7-11 are awesome! Nice you were able to see the cherry blossoms while you were there. I still haven't done that yet.
I'm also flying domestically on my next Japan trip so this was really helpful! Last time I visited Osaka I also stayed at a Hotel near Yodoyabashi (Resol trinity, top hotel seriously) so it was very nostalgic seeing the station again, thanks for the nice footage :D
3:27 it's a -8 Landing into HND🇯🇵 from FRA🇩🇪. Before the Tokyo Haneda flight from Frankfurt it would have done the daily round trip Frankfurt to Newark Terminal B LH402/403 6:00 p.m. departure from Newark
Great report and great to see a 767! Not too many 767s left in this part of the world. SYD got a UPS 767 last night flying to Shenzen. I miss the days when QF had dozens of 767s...
I love Japan and I’ve been to Osaka twice. I usually take the Shinkansen as train travel as is more spacious, though I have thought of using JL domestic. Your blog brought back memories awesome. Dotonbori 👍🏻👍🏻 Sweet that you showed some time for your 6’4 😝
we flew JAL because we were staying at the airport hotel haha, actually more convenient (and cheaper) to fly🤣 For the next two journeys we took the train; love how they get you to the city centres
@@JaydenWong the trains are central and being senior staff with NSW Trains is sort of a done thing for me to travel on superior trains than Aussie ones 🤣🤣🇦🇺
Another great trip report! What you said about the minimal food in Japan airport lounges now makes sense, we flew ANA from Haneda back to Sydney, there wasn't a lot of food in the lounge there. Compared that to when we flew from Sydney to Haneda, we used the Air New Zealand lounge, plenty of food! Loved your Osaka vlog, amazing place! Glad you got to see Cherry blossom, we were about two weeks to early....
Good Morning from Germany 🇩🇪. Now here Spring has arrived. Temp.::7/16 degrees. Coffee ☕️ outside and watch ur Video. 👍👏. Good Start into Sunday. See You. 🙏🙏. Best wishes to 6,4😉.
I enjoyed this trip with your report with 6'4". And speaking of the Japanese domestic flights they beat the American domestic flights because if it's below 6 hours you ended up paying for the domestic meal above 6 hours on a domestic flight in the United States you get a complimentary meal. I wonder how did you get back to Australia from Osaka I'm guessing you went this way KIX-ADL/SYD via Singapore. 12:47 they are also found in the United States
A 20 year old 767 is practically a baby!! Interesting note about domestic drink service vs. Aussie carriers. On US domestic flights you get a drink service on even shorter flights, usually with a snack!
Great video, Jayden. You mentioned at the beginning of the video that you had stayed at the onsen hotel at Haneda prior to boarding your flight down to Itami. Was that the Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport? Mr T and I will be staying one night there in January ahead of an early SQ flight to Singapore. Please let me know how the hotel was. We plan to have a nice dinner at the attached shopping experience, a nice splash in the Ibsen ahead of a nice sleep. We have previously stayed at a JAL City hotel near Haneda Airport with a free shuttle to the airport terminal. It did the job, but the onsen is the icing on the cake. Always enjoy your videos, and travelogues afterwards. Great to have both your reaction and Mr Six Foot Four’s reactions to the airport, flight and destination experience.
Yep that hotel, we got the cheapest room. Was a bit small but not bad for Tokyo-standards. Tea/coffee/toiletries are free to grab from the lobby. Onsen is extra 2000yen per person for 24 hours. Great value if you go more than once! Unfortunately no airplane view from the men’s side
Hi Jayden Could you please make a video about the airline membership and share your experience with earring miles. Which airlines do you recommend from each alliance?
We're going to Osaka on June 7 using Japan Airlines. Would you recommend us using the Airport Limousine for transfers or is it not worth it. Also did you like the 767 or you prefer the 787
if it goes straight to your hotel lobby, then absolutely! 787 will have newer seats. 767 older, but wider :) For a short flight it really doesn't matter, choose your flight based on the schedule!
5:12 Is it common for JAL to use a wide-body aircraft like the 767 for domestic flights and was the dirty tray table in your experience an anomaly for a JAL aircraft?
man your so lucky to have a aussie buddy willing to go to japan with you. my aussie from Melbourne doesnt want to travel... guess my hong kong charm doesn't work on him 😞
First time I see nobody welcoming you at the door, uncharacteristic of JAL lol. That being said due to the skyrocketing JR Pass tickets, I think I might be good with a domestic flight hahaha. Btw why not take the monorail?
I still find it strangely bemusing that JAL has a whole fleet of A350-900 wide body aircraft but not a single one is used internationally, only domestically.
I wonder if you fly business class for long haul international flights such as north america to asia such as toronto, new york with or montreal to Seoul-incheon or middle east such as dubai?!
Tell six foot four, we all love him.

WE LOVE YOU, TOO.
He’s sexy af

I said this in your old MH 738 video before...🤭🤭🤭 The coat hook is on the tray table latch...
Cabin appears pretty basic. I assume JAL uses this 767 strictly for domestic flight? How much longer does JAL plan to keep their 767s?
Yep you won’t see them on any international flight :) Not too sure about their retirement plan, ANA and JAL still fly them heaps

Miss being in Japan Jayden. It’s got a little less tourist friendly recently.
Great vlog as usual.
Will you do a Q&A soon?
5:12 Is it common for JAL to use a wide-body aircraft like the 767 for domestic flights and was the dirty tray table in your experience an anomaly for a JAL aircraft?
Yes very common to see 767, also 787 and a350. Usually very clean, staff just missed a spot
If you ever come back to the U.S., definitely try out one of the low cost carriers like spirit, JetBlue, southwest, frontier etc.
man your so lucky to have a aussie buddy willing to go to japan with you. my aussie from Melbourne doesnt want to travel... guess my hong kong charm doesn't work on him 😞

Btw why not take the monorail?
Nice!
12:51. I just had 10 plates at Kura last week, plus beer and sweet tea. Just blew US$50 🙃

Jayden, you should’ve gotten yourself a 🍱 SUSHI combo platter box 😋😋😋😋🤤🤤🤤🤤
I am curious, how much did you pay to take the train from your nearest hotel to the city or place you like to go in Osaka?
don’t remember.
Oh, okay. Sorry, I was wondering because sometimes taking a train in Japan is a little pricey.
Draft Beer! Draught Beer would be correct.
What's the seat number and is your flight to Osaka almost full?
I don’t remember the seat number. Flight was very full
Oh, okay. Really on a domestic flight? No way, wow. When you book your flight, before flying Japan airlines to Osaka, window seat is almost sold out?
