    We start of the day at the Portuguese dolmen Anta de Cortiçô, full of history and same goes for the old Spanish border castle of Linhares. After we ride into the mountains, touring some of the best motorcycle roads this country has to offer. Unfortunately, Brownie could not hang and has left us while I didn't notice.

    There you go, another big boi episode. It's true about the camera angle, too low and me ducking more behind the screen to get cleaner audio doesn't help (can't tilt camera further back though). Speaking of that, the wind catcher is falling apart letting in more noise. I've got the items now to hopefully mostly resolve these issues starting the second episode once in the Algarve. So hang in there the next couple of videos, don't break your neck trying to look up beyond the screen, there's nothing there. Happy new year peoples.

    It would be cool if the person who picks up Brownie gives it to his kid, then the kid grows up to be a moto adventurer and takes Brownie with him. I hope it's that, and not FLAT BROWNIE.

    Crazy coincidence. Just earlier I was watching a car review video done by a well-known Portuguese car magazine called Razão Automóvel. The test they were conducting was in Serra da Estrela and, because the scenes were so jaw-droppingly beautiful, I decided to search for the latest videos of this location because I've been wanting to visit it for a while. That's when I found your channel and this video in specific and, to my surprise, you guys went past each other at minute 29:50 when you were testing your brakes! They were testing the grey Jaguar F-Type and the blue Audi S4 Avant.
    Your content is amazing. It makes me strive for the freedom to travel this beautiful country of ours one day.
    Cheers pal!

    As a fellow rider ( currently an Africa Twin CRF1100) I love your videos and Always click thumbs up even before I watch them, I would like to respectfully request that you please adjust your chin camera upwards so that it doesn't only show your dash, but also the horizon as you ride. Perhaps a spacer might be needed to bypass the tilt limits. Abracos Amigo!

    • @iPedroMota
      @iPedroMota  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah that's happening once in the Algarve, got the piece needed for that recently sine the cam can't tilt further back. Did just that spacer thing in the next couple of vids to not much avail. I think the helmet tilts down more since I started riding again, maybe something to do with the inside sitting slightly looser. Abraco!

    Well done Pedro, the map at the beginning REALLY helps, found your starting point in a couple minutes although it wasn't marked on Google Earth. Was able to pin point most places, and along with "street view" felt like I was there. Although I'm a hardcore geography buff, I've never paid any attention to Portugal, I'm TOTALLY amazed at her beauty and "charm". Atlas is making great background music. Sorry about Brownie, most "little guys" don't live very long but he certainly had a good short life, one can only hope...I still have a couple little teddy bears I got back in the early 1950's, you get attached some things. My go to travel tires are the kenda k270. Easy 12k km life. I tried a dunlop d605 this summer. The rear only lasted 6000km. The front though is a bit narrower than the k270, and is on the blocky side. It's still has at least another 6k left in it.
    More aggressive tires are great, and I don't mind changing tires. But 3 to 4 rears a season gets expensive.
    Your doing a fantastic job editing.
    Hopefully Brownie doesn't get his stuffing pecked out.😭
    🖖😆

    • @iPedroMota
      @iPedroMota  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How you like em in the rain? There's something about the K270 or the E07 pattern that I don't trust and it was because someone wiped out behind me on smooth wet bumpy old tarmac in Oz, I felt a wiggle but he actually fell (also clogged up easy with mud). Similar tire he had, though I don't know which one it was anymore, thought it was the E07 but that K270 could also be it. Got a seriously negative association since then with those close patterns. Need to find out because both tires are cheap and probably worth trying sometime. Cheers, 'twas a packed day.

    • @KLRmurdercycle
      @KLRmurdercycle 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The front k270 is washy in sand and mud. The back is ok in mud or snow, if you have good balance. Practice I guess.
      But I've never had an issue with them in the wet.
      All kinds of claimed failures as well on the forums...I've never had any issue
      The sidewalls and face are built like dirt tires. They flare out then reverse into themselves. So I've had the klr touching pegs and didn't feel sketched. Similar speed and lean in this video. I could see someone forgetting that they aren't street tires and lean too much in wet conditions.
      Absolutely love MotoZ but too much money now in Canada.

      @@iPedroMota by the way, just a curiosity, that last descent that takes you from Lagoa Comprida to Loriga Pass, in the Portuguese cycling (i'm also a cyclist) scene, that climb is called the Adamastor. I can see you know so much of the Portuguese history, so probably you understand why is called like that :D Nice to have you around. Hope you come back soon. Desejo-te uma boa e grande viagem

    Nice ride! Wahoo! Have had 2 sets of Heidenau Scouts which are great for longer life on road and off but man is the front noisy on the road. GSA1200 but maybe quieter on a lighter bike.

    • @iPedroMota
      @iPedroMota  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just ordered the front one too. Had a good start with the rear Heidie in spite of the middle strip (thought I was getting the same old pattern as on the first 130 I took to Mongolia, this one is 140 and has that continuous bar in the middle). Though it came short on a long steep climb with some rock steps, just slips away.

    I really enjoyed the small villages. Of course I would’ve gone much slower to soak in the surroundings. I wish your helmet camera was aimed up a bit more so as to see the surroundings better. Fun video nonetheless and I can tell you’re truly enjoying yourself. Ride safe and have fun. 🇺🇸

    Poor Brownie, all alone and possibly flattened (or worse) at the roadside, but still an inanimate object. For real though I am a little sad for your niece (? or I forget who the little girl is who gave you Brownie) having lost one of her friends

    Thanks for your nice video. How much km did Atlas on the clock when you took over the bike and how much do you have now on the clock if I may Ask? Would you consider to do a review on the bike?

    • @bobdemeyer6944
      @bobdemeyer6944 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Atlas had about 66K on the clock when Pedro picked it up. I guess it is around 69 now. Before the makeover, I hated the appearance. Metallic shades of purple and blue, grey plastic, Toyota Tercel instrument panel, rectangular headlight. Mechanically smooth and civilised, as we expect from Honda. You might think too urban and not rough enough for the unpaved adventure. However Pedro proves us wrong. Atlas is pretty stock. Ik wonder what modifications Pedro would suggest to make it a proper adventure machine. What I would improve is the stiffness of the frame and the front fork. But, if possible, that would also increase the weight. And fuel economy is bad on motorways. The rev counter seems to indicate the fuel consumption in liters per 100 Km :-) See more of the history of Atlas here th-cam.com/video/QV31MYyWi-o/w-d-xo.html

      @@bobdemeyer6944 66 km then It is just broken in. My cbf 500 had 80 000 km on the clock when I crashed It. Nice of you to let Pedro borrow your bike. I have to admit that I thought that Pedro by now have added a whole lot more miles on the clock.

    It looks to me that if you would tilt up the camera on your helmet a bit, we will get to see less of the gas tank and more of the surroundings ahead of you 😁
