Some fans don't like this series because it goes for a more serious and dark approach but for a hardcore Spyro fan like me I actually love the more serious and dark approach. In fact the ONLY Spyro game I actually hate is Enter the Dragonfly. I would even say it's the "Sonic 06" of the series.

I think The Eternal Night is awesome but very depressing, considering at the end, Spyro didn't have the strength to get up off the ground, so he told Cynder and Sparx to leave without him, he knew that he wouldn't be able to escape quick enough because he was too tired and weak, so he was willing to sacrifice himself and let Cynder and Sparx go on without him, it's a really sad situation when you think about it. 💔
@LFAMV's I agree, but I don't get what Spyro Fans are bitching about. these games were just as good as the originals but in these games, we get to see Spyro's backstory and see how he and Sparx became friends and went on adventures together. plus I loved how Sparx can talk with words instead of making buzzing sounds like in A heroes tail game.
I only wish they made the console version of Eternal Night more easier considering I only play the tutorial part but when you get to the main game things get intense and difficult I mean the DS version is far more better because it’s a little easier at the beginning

I'm glad I discovered Spyro for gaming when "Dawn of the Dragon" was already released. I couldn't stand waiting for the release of the next game just to know how things go on from this point.

Anyone ever notice how Malefor looks like the Chronicler and Spyro looks like Ignitus? in the third Game ignitus also becomes the new Chronicler Dragon...........think there's some kind of hidden story and pattern?
I'm not sure why people complain so much about these games so much. I realize that, yes, the original series was great- I enjoyed them too, but I think to say TLoS series "ruined Spyro" is a bit much- the games still focused on him, and while the story is pretty cliche, they were still a pretty fun platformers and had memorable and quirky characters and environments. I actually rather liked how they experimented with the darker tone andthe "action-adventure/platformer" angle they took with it. But to each their own I suppose-that's my 2 cents on the topic lol.
It's good as a series on its own (aside from the absolute bullshit that is the price of the CHARACTERS which _should_ already come WITH the game instead of needing a stupid figurine), but including Spyro in it was one of the worst decisions. They even cancelled the Legend of Spyro *movie* they were making because of it...

IsaiahPotato I was actually on the sound editorial team for this game. I did all the dialogue editorial and some of the sound effects editing for the cut scenes. I also did all the dialogue editorial on the previous sypro game. David Spade was very difficult to work with. He wasn't nice to the audio crew during recording. You should have heard his out-takes.
Sparx is way more annoying in this than in The Legend of Spyro. I actually thought Sparx was pretty hilarious in that. They changed his voice actor too...

The animation of the mountain collapsing was incredible for its time. To have such a solid cutscene that doesn’t glitch or break from all the collision just… ah, i love it. Krome made such a beautiful first two games. Wish they hadn’t had to abandon ship.
I love atmosphere in the Legends series, and always liked this more serious take on Spyro as a character. The only thing I wish they changed would be making Sparx less of a jerk and more loyal as a character.
The legend trilogy will always be my fave just for the story. The original spyro games were fun and I loved playing the reignighted so much! But I always adore story driven games, where the characters get so much heart and where you're able to play in this space and even outside with fanmade things! (you or others made!!) Sure there were flaws but I'll always hold these games really near and dear to my heart.

Jason Sacuta It does suck. It's ALWAYS kind of sucked. Kubo has admitted on a few occasions now that he basically just does the story a page at a time, where his only goal is drawing cool pictures, and has no real flowing idea for where the story goes (ie: He has the concept of the arc, but makes it up as he goes along.) He openly admits that he doesn't care to do in-depth character development because he thinks that it stalls the rest of the story somehow. His plots are so obvious that I accurately predicted the entire first half of this stupid Sternritter arc before it had even started. I probably would've gotten the rest of it, too, had I bothered keeping up with it. Hes' retconned most of established canon at this point (everything from Masaki being a normal human, to suddenly being a fucking Quincy, thus making Ichigo one of literally fucking everything in the Bleach-verse, making him the hero of a story that's barely better than idiotic fanfiction...being better only in that it's being published, which at this point it shouldn't be. Not to mention, making Ichigo's full hollow form something that existed before he was even born.) I would go further into why Bleach is a godforsaken tragedy of shounen storytelling, but I'll stop there. The definition of 'shounen' is that it's an action story designed and intended for 13-15 year old boys. It shows. Anyone with any self-respect will view Bleach as nothing more than a long string of barely-conscious, incoherent, self-contradicting, vapid bullshit...but at least it's pretty to look at. Unfortunately, that only held me until the moment Nel fell out of the sky and landed in Ichigo's lap with NO MENTION WHATSOEVER for the fact that she'd been abandoned (nearly dead) in Hueco Mundo after the Nnoitra fight, by the very people she'd come to think of as friends and allies. The series is shit.
Koltiras Rip things were not retconned, misaki being a Quincy was clearly forshadowed, by all statements, that Ichigo's father was Keeping a big secret from him, it was implied that Misaki could see Grand Fisher (you should look over that scene again), and there was also the whole Isshin being Friends with Uryu's Father, (who was also a Quincy and was originally supposed to marry misaki) and it was implied they had a history together. The thing with Nel was kinda annoying, but that wasn't really important to what was going on right now. Kubo statment about not planning things, only applies sometimes like fight scenes or certain element, but I'm pretty sure he planned out the whole misaki thing and Ichigo's powers (what with byakuya ranting that ichigo's bankai was not a true Bankai) Ichigo is supposed to be a "transendent" being that Aizen was talking about. Are you sure Kubo said character development didn't matter, either that was a mistranslation or it was his editors/executives that was referring to. In fact a lot of ichigo classmates were planed to be developed but his editors and the executives made him change that, a lot of things that were wrong with Bleach wasn't Kubo's Fault but rather the editors and executives (which is probably what kubo meant by "not planing things out") things like the arrancar arc weren't supposed to run for so long. Kubo has stated that everything that has happened in past arcs have been leading up to this Arc.

This is one of the saddest games ive ever played. You get so close to the characters throughout thr game and the last thing you see is a mountain collapsing on them. And the song at the end just tops it all off DOesnt it.
I think the main problem most people had with TLoS series is that it was a series that really didn't know what it wanted to be. The first game was very much a platform with fun battles, whereas the second game had a ridiculous difficulty curve considering the target audience and played more like an action game. The third installment can barely be called a platformer, and that's only for certain parts of the game, and the fact that it almost forces you to play multiplayer and use a god of war style system really killed it for a lot of fans, because by that point TLoS had lost so much of what had made Spyro, well, Spyro. That being said, the games aren't bad at what they are, they would just be better off being standalone titles (mind you the first two work well together) and probably not even being part of the same series. All three games are fun, innovative, and actually tell a very fun story, but they just didn't feel like a game a lot of wanted. That, for me, is where the original skylanders came in. I will be the first to admit that I don't enjoy the bastardization of Spyro, but the game did the one thing that TLoS didn't: it returned Spyro to his roots. The game played like one of the original trilogy games, and although the story was lacking, the characters were cookie-cutter copies, and the voice actors were horrible (except Chaos, coz let's be honest, that dude is hilarious), the gameplay that was necessary to make it worthy of the Spyro title WAS IN FACT PRESENT. Regrettably, as more games have come out, they have lost their luster. Giants was... an interesting addition (I only bought Swarm because I thought it was silly and gimmicky to have bigger toys), and Swapforce is really where I draw the line, especially with the new "Mega Ram Spyro" *shudders intensifies*. My only hope is that Activision at least tries to "normalize" Spyro a little bit, and push him back towards his roots even more... Or at least fix his appearance. Also, was I the only one disappointed that Hunter was never made to be a Skylander? What is up with that?
I didn't feel that Dawn of the Dragon forced multiplayer on me... I beat it to completion solo. Aside from the elite enemies (which always posed a challenge if I didn't prepare the fury gauge ahead of time, oops), it was pretty easy to play on my own. It's definitely my favorite in the Legend of Spyro trilogy.
The ending was so beautiful ;) And I love the song that played. They definitely should've kept this series going, its absolutely amazing!!! Also, they cancelled Skylanders :D

I used to be obsessed with this game and the ones before and after it. They are honestly pretty badass and great games imo and great memories me.
If only more spyro games could have story like this trilogy. It was amazing how the story and world just sucked you in and had you waiting to see what would happen next.

The animation of the mountain collapsing was incredible for its time. To have such a solid cutscene that doesn’t glitch or break from all the collision just… ah, i love it. Krome made such a beautiful first two games. Wish they hadn’t had to abandon ship.
I wish they could find a good merge of these epic cinema stories, and the pleasant-ness, and the depth of gameplay of the original.

I love atmosphere in the Legends series, and always liked this more serious take on Spyro as a character. The only thing I wish they changed would be making Sparx less of a jerk and more loyal as a character.

The legend trilogy will always be my fave just for the story. The original spyro games were fun and I loved playing the reignighted so much! But I always adore story driven games, where the characters get so much heart and where you're able to play in this space and even outside with fanmade things! (you or others made!!) Sure there were flaws but I'll always hold these games really near and dear to my heart.

It does suck. It's ALWAYS kind of sucked. Kubo has admitted on a few occasions now that he basically just does the story a page at a time, where his only goal is drawing cool pictures, and has no real flowing idea for where the story goes (ie: He has the concept of the arc, but makes it up as he goes along.) He openly admits that he doesn't care to do in-depth character development because he thinks that it stalls the rest of the story somehow. His plots are so obvious that I accurately predicted the entire first half of this stupid Sternritter arc before it had even started. I probably would've gotten the rest of it, too, had I bothered keeping up with it. Hes' retconned most of established canon at this point (everything from Masaki being a normal human, to suddenly being a fucking Quincy, thus making Ichigo one of literally fucking everything in the Bleach-verse, making him the hero of a story that's barely better than idiotic fanfiction...being better only in that it's being published, which at this point it shouldn't be. Not to mention, making Ichigo's full hollow form something that existed before he was even born.) I would go further into why Bleach is a godforsaken tragedy of shounen storytelling, but I'll stop there. The definition of 'shounen' is that it's an action story designed and intended for 13-15 year old boys. It shows. Anyone with any self-respect will view Bleach as nothing more than a long string of barely-conscious, incoherent, self-contradicting, vapid bullshit...but at least it's pretty to look at. Unfortunately, that only held me until the moment Nel fell out of the sky and landed in Ichigo's lap with NO MENTION WHATSOEVER for the fact that she'd been abandoned (nearly dead) in Hueco Mundo after the Nnoitra fight, by the very people she'd come to think of as friends and allies. The series is shit.
Koltiras Rip things were not retconned, misaki being a Quincy was clearly forshadowed, by all statements, that Ichigo's father was Keeping a big secret from him, it was implied that Misaki could see Grand Fisher (you should look over that scene again), and there was also the whole Isshin being Friends with Uryu's Father, (who was also a Quincy and was originally supposed to marry misaki) and it was implied they had a history together.
The thing with Nel was kinda annoying, but that wasn't really important to what was going on right now.
Kubo statment about not planning things, only applies sometimes like fight scenes or certain element, but I'm pretty sure he planned out the whole misaki thing and Ichigo's powers (what with byakuya ranting that ichigo's bankai was not a true Bankai) Ichigo is supposed to be a "transendent" being that Aizen was talking about.
Are you sure Kubo said character development didn't matter, either that was a mistranslation or it was his editors/executives that was referring to.
In fact a lot of ichigo classmates were planed to be developed but his editors and the executives made him change that, a lot of things that were wrong with Bleach wasn't Kubo's Fault but rather the editors and executives (which is probably what kubo meant by "not planing things out") things like the arrancar arc weren't supposed to run for so long.
Kubo has stated that everything that has happened in past arcs have been leading up to this Arc.

This is one of the saddest games ive ever played. You get so close to the characters throughout thr game and the last thing you see is a mountain collapsing on them. And the song at the end just tops it all off DOesnt it.

I think the main problem most people had with TLoS series is that it was a series that really didn't know what it wanted to be. The first game was very much a platform with fun battles, whereas the second game had a ridiculous difficulty curve considering the target audience and played more like an action game. The third installment can barely be called a platformer, and that's only for certain parts of the game, and the fact that it almost forces you to play multiplayer and use a god of war style system really killed it for a lot of fans, because by that point TLoS had lost so much of what had made Spyro, well, Spyro. That being said, the games aren't bad at what they are, they would just be better off being standalone titles (mind you the first two work well together) and probably not even being part of the same series. All three games are fun, innovative, and actually tell a very fun story, but they just didn't feel like a game a lot of wanted.
That, for me, is where the original skylanders came in. I will be the first to admit that I don't enjoy the bastardization of Spyro, but the game did the one thing that TLoS didn't: it returned Spyro to his roots. The game played like one of the original trilogy games, and although the story was lacking, the characters were cookie-cutter copies, and the voice actors were horrible (except Chaos, coz let's be honest, that dude is hilarious), the gameplay that was necessary to make it worthy of the Spyro title WAS IN FACT PRESENT. Regrettably, as more games have come out, they have lost their luster. Giants was... an interesting addition (I only bought Swarm because I thought it was silly and gimmicky to have bigger toys), and Swapforce is really where I draw the line, especially with the new "Mega Ram Spyro" *shudders intensifies*. My only hope is that Activision at least tries to "normalize" Spyro a little bit, and push him back towards his roots even more... Or at least fix his appearance. Also, was I the only one disappointed that Hunter was never made to be a Skylander? What is up with that?

I didn't feel that Dawn of the Dragon forced multiplayer on me... I beat it to completion solo. Aside from the elite enemies (which always posed a challenge if I didn't prepare the fury gauge ahead of time, oops), it was pretty easy to play on my own. It's definitely my favorite in the Legend of Spyro trilogy.
