0:37 I like this line here "Put it through the S-950 then stretch it".
Ive listened to some of the samples LP has used on some of his songs and the distortion that can come with using such equipment (with proper sampling) cannot be emulated by a computer or by a different method. (It's the method for producing real 90s-style hip-hop.) For instance, the song M.A.R.S. contains a sample off of the song "Pussyfooter" by Jackie Robinson. The strings sound completely different than the original Jackie Robinson record though.

Curtis Pea It could have been mainstream...if given the proper push. People were anticipating The LP ever since Large Pro went on Tribe's Midnight Marauders album telling them to "buy the album when I drop it". He was getting some burn with this and "IJussWannaChill", leaving people thinking the album was finally gonna drop, and then....NOTHING.
See, Silvia Rhone was running Elektra Records at the time, and if you didn't have P-Diddy-level Hit-potential, she wasn't fucking with you. Pete Rock was also going through the same thing, as she stood in the way of his InI project as well. Both albums wouldn't get officially released until early 2000.
