The first song I ever heard of Nate’s was Hate Myself. It was in 2019, pre-Covid. I was sitting in my room late one night and I was just in such an awful state of depression and wanting to go out and get my usual bottle of alcohol and I decided to go to TH-cam. I typed in the search bar “I hate myself” and it just so happened that Nate’s song was the first song in the results. I clicked on it and that’s when the NF Journey started for me. I cried a lot of tears that night listening to that song on repeat. I’ve been listening to him ever since and I’m glad that others are joining in on that Journey too.
Love your reactions, especially to NF's music. Not many people I tell about his music really get what he's doing. To me, there's much more to his art than just creative lyrics and storytelling, there's a raw emotion and it comes out in his scores, sound effects, lyrics and delivery. Also, loved that you picked up that this type of song is more encouraging than it was sad, cause a lot of people listen to it think it's a depressing song, which my opinion is that it's completely the opposite. Just want to say, appreciate your reactions!

Nf fans definitely get what he is doing. Telling a story. His story. Some people just like dumb rap that has no meaning besides spending all their money on meaningless crap.
I had a spinal injury in 2007 and am now paralysed from the neck down, needing a mechanical ventilator to breathe me 24hrs. My friends and family so reluctant to talk about their struggles with me, fearing that they would seem so inadequate compared to my own. While I appreciate the sentiment, it often leaves me feeling alone in my pain and my struggles. I wish they would tell me about their down days or when they have a sore leg or any complaint whatsoever. As I said, they mean well by trying to not belittle my struggles but, in the end, leave me feeling alone in my struggles. This song means so much to me!

Hey Steven - I see you brother. I’m so sorry to hear about your injury and what you’ve been through and go through. I just can’t imagine my heart goes out to you and praying for you as soon as I get over and go to bed!! Really interesting comment you made there about wishing your family and friends good share their stuff with you but I imagine it would be tough. Obviously you probably just need to tell them that it would help you connect to them and be cathartic! I just ran across Rosalie yesterday and can’t stop watching her reactions cause we’ve got a lot of mental health and addiction stuff in our family and I just spent the last decade trying to help my daughter take it out of her borderline personality disorder after all the suicide attempts and we’re still in the midst of all that and as a father it hurts and feel him to blame for some of it because of porn she sort of mine when she was young… spent the last year and a half helping her so much I’m about to lose my business and my entire 40 years of retirement I saved which is on the line but what’s the father to do ??!!! 🤷♂️…. Anyway just wanted to share that with your brother and going to go pray for you here in a few minutes of course for healing because God can work miracles but also just whatever you need and however he wants to use you for whatever reason only eternity will know why this happened- just remember there’s also very evil force out there who is constantly trying to kill us like he has been with my daughter Kait. All of NF music hits home for me but the song "I miss the days" hits home the hardest because I always told my nieces and nephew to never ever lose their imagination in life like I had lost mine. The choir in that song really sets the goosebumps going and the water works working.

Ok now for my reaction comment... Again you did an amazing job! Love your insight and I can see your brain working as you are listening to the words. NF is a roller coaster lol. Some songs are darker and sad and then you'll get ones that are uplifting, and other are rap heavy and v them are ones were he songs! This is why he has sooo many dedicated fans, we all relate to his words. I never usually request songs but I'm positive you are going to love the songs Paralyze and Oh Lord, normally they aren't included in some of the "journey" lists. Please please check them out. If you want to hear more of his singing, listen to "Can you hold me ft. Britt Nicole." It's not part of the journey, so most people do not react to it, but I think it's a beautiful song that really features him as a singer. A lot of people think it's a song about a relationship, but it's actually him talking to God.

Just wanted to share that I watch quite a few reaction videos (mostly to NF music- don’t judge me 😂 ) and I appreciate the variety of ways people do it. From vocal coaches stopping the songs every few seconds to break down vocal runs to you who deep dive into the lyrics and vibe and messages and therefore allow the song to play completely before chiming in. There’s so much to get from either format and each way serves a purpose. The channels I don’t watch are the ones who I feel are replicating other channels.
I’m watching your video now because I want to hear your thoughts in the format you provide them. No one is special when everyone does the same thing. In the words of NF “You’re special”.

Love your reactions! I have struggled most of my life with understanding the meanings of songs, even if I have the lyrics memorized. My wife has a lot of trauma in her past and listening to NF, and people like you reacting to him, has helped me understand her better.
Some artists/groups I've never seen reacted to and myself and my wife enjoy are Dermot Kennedy (talented Irish singer) and Amber Run (English).

I just subscribed for the NF Journey. I think I stumbled across your first NF reaction b/c YT algorithm knows I have an NF Journey problem LOL. But I stuck around for a few videos (and now subscribed) because you really have a very special and very unique perspective to add and I can’t wait to see you go through the rest of the journey! I’m so glad you will return to the beginning and go in order - he really layers meaning and references over time and when you “catch up” in later albums (like listening to Outro - Intro III - Outcast in sequence) it is mind blowing.
Your emotional sensitivity and ability to recognize how this journey is his mental health and healing journey is such an important perspective to share so I am so glad you are here. And like many other NF fans, I think he will encourage you too - his growth over the albums is impossible to miss - and with each album I just want to cheer louder for him and for each of us that are fighting similar battles.
Paralyzed and if you want love will hit you. His music has really got me through hard times and watching his interviews I just didn't feel alone.
Dang, I've listened to NF for years. This is exactly the song I needed to hear right now lol. Lost my job a few weeks ago, entirely my fault so I can only blame myself for my circumstances, afraid I won't meet my rent and bills on time, afraid I'll have to mooch off friends or family AGAIN, afraid my pop will have to pay off the school loans he cosigned after all, even though it should have gotten me my A&P license and secure work for the rest of my life. And it was all me, my poor financial decisions, my poor work ethic, my lack of foresight and stalling getting my airframe license (only have my powerplant). Definitely felt empty, scared, and hopeless. The entire section of the song about the defective club, the feeling of failure, "could you really improve and be something worth saving"... that's a VERY personal series of lines right now. Thanks for showing up on my feed and reminding me this song is here :)

On a separate note, I have a suggestion for your British playlist. Have you ever listened to Muse? Their earlier stuff especially has been part of my life playlist, and I'd love to hear you react to some of it. As always great reaction I liked this one it was to me encouraging and makes you think about life and you never know someone elses story they might be in the same kind of place that you are in. it was very real. and your right there is alot of hate in this world and if we cave in and let it stop us from what we want to accomplish then who is to blame them or ourselves for letting them do it to us and as far as if you let that happen it would be a very sad day indeed. I love this community that is being built here it has a very strong foundation and as it builds it just gets bigger and stronger with every new layer. Honestly, you have to check out NF - STORY. It's one of the coolest things I've ever seen from an artist. Also NF - LAYERS is super interesting, he just flips the whole song on its head after half of it, really shows his immense skillset as an artist.
His best song is ‘Nate’ followed by the emotional ’How Could You Leave Us’
When he talks to the audience/oppressor, which makes people's lives hard, he scolds, but whenever he talks to the victims/oppressed, he sings nicely.
Another great nf song is "Leave me alone" which is another deep, emotional song explaining his issues more.
Another similar artist that has some great (but not as clean) songs is Hopsin. his songs "your house" is a great song about coming up in an abusive house and "alone with me" about dealing with depression. It does cuss but the lyrics are very deep and impactful

I've been playing "Trust" by NF & Tech N9ne a lot lately. Tech N9ne got started back in 1985.. He's a rare type and a legend.
I would suggest you find a Lyric version because the speed is a little much for some.
Trauma is another singing song of his if you ever get a chance to check it out!
You should check out Tommee Profit who is NF's producer. He does videos breaking down how he develops the instrumentals and tracks for NF's music. Tommee is a genius with how he develops the rhythms and progression of the songs into such a theatrical masterpiece!
I think that his line about not wanting to get out of the rut means not wanting to leave those destructive patterns of thinking that keep a person trapped. Even though those ruts are bad, it’s all some know and fear losing all they know because their identity is in those things. It is a deep error (lie) that is keeping them in jail, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically.

Yeah and about feeling the "need to stay in your rut" I feel this way too more often than not. And sometimes when I feel happy, I feel uncomfortable and I deliberately go back to being gloomy. Why? I'm not really sure but I think one of the reasons is that it's become a part of me, like an identity of some sort that no one but me knows about.
thank you for sharing this. I think sometimes when we feel happy we wait for "the other shoe to drop". There's a word for it i can't remember right now. But when it's hard to enjoy the beauty and present excitement for fear of bad things happening and taking it away. Sometimes it's trauma, sometimes we self-sabotage because we're used to toxic and try to recreate it. Being aware and working on breaking cycles is key.

Definitely a change in style for NF. I liked it. I have a suggestion Mongolian throat singing band The Hu and Lizzy Hale A woman's song. A great tribute to mothers. Also the song wolf totem is a political call for the Mongols to rise up against their oppressers (China) and restore the kingdom of the Kahns.
