When changing my metro account to my new unlocked phone, I discovered that switching works better if done on a laptop or desktop. Doing it that way allowed me to complete the process successfully. Being patient is helpful, very helpful

@@mannshambles7006 Go to my metro on your PC then click account and then log in, after that look for Lines and devices
Standalone lines, click your name line and then it should say switch line click that and then IMEI number show up and the rest is history. Done

That’s archaic! The customer should be able to just move the sim without IMEI numbers hassle and pins or calls! It’s just a move to get more money from the customers!

It's meant to prevent sim swaps, but they don't really tell you how to do it which is scummy

Thank you so much for the tip at the end. I wasn't able to switch phones on my own since I had protection on my previous phone. But since I mentioned trying to do it on my own, they waived the fee!
Wish the person I got transferred to waived my fee....she said it wasn't possible...and sent me link to try again...still didn't work sadly.

You just saved me some money as the Metro website was forcing me to upgrade to a new more expensive plan and it possibly would have had directed me to the call center where I would have been charged an activation fee. This wouldn't work for me, every time I clicked yes to the same sim question the app would close. So I tried on my desktop and it worked! but only after a few tries, it first would say I need to switch plans, but I just refreshed the page a couple of times it finally allowed me to switch.
That's also b******* because back in the day you could just take that Sim card as in simulation cardout and put it in another phone and boom it would work
Thank you so much for such a helpful video! Having just gone through the process, I have one observation. Initially, when I indicated I was going to use my existing sim card (from the old phone), I received a disturbing message saying, "Whoops! It looks like the phone you want to use is already active on an account." It was only when I went back and said I would use the esim card option that the activation process went through. Go figure...??

I managed to do everything perfectly until I write the IMEI and it sends me out of the application and it won't let me continue. When I open the app again, I have to start everything again, and so on repeatedly. What is the reason and what could I do?

I did mine online through a computer. Same process but this time you pick the number you want to switch to. My screen was busted and couldn't see anything and I did it that way and worked like a charm.
But what if you sign in and it says Enter the code that was sent to the phone that is broken? The 2 factor authentication keeps popping up smh
hey I did this but my new phone is not reconizing the sim card and is unable to make phone calls so i cant switch back. What can i do?

Since he was on 5G, WiFi usage isnt really required for him, since 5G is pretty poweful.
He does reminds the viewer tho (i guess listener as well) to plz if u do not have 5G to make sure you stay connected to your WiFi. 👍

I've been a metro customer for about 15 years!
My Motorola phones battery had swollen and pushed the back off.. still worked though. But time for an upgrade!
I went to the closest metro store+about 1 1/2 hours away!
I got the upgrade.. phone works but lots of information not on the new phone.. pictures and old texts! Some of these things are there from the past but the stuff from the phone being replaced is missing!?

I just bought two different phones one is supposed to be my sons phone but they activated it to my existing phone and the phone is wanted the did it as a new line. My whole life is connected to my phone and my son needs his during school for emergencies. How can i get the numbers switched to the opposite phones. I have a stupid question for you. Lol. My mom is an existing customer and has had her phone for 3+ years. She needs it replaced. I went to several stores, and they don't seem trustworthy, and are selling older phones, and I suspect, repaired/ refurbed phones as new. For the same cost, even with their "discounts" I see a current + better unlocked phone on the Motorola site for $10-$15 less that the older model they can "order" for more. I've always bought my upgrades from the store.....If it is says its compatible with Metro on the Motorola site, I can still take it in to metro, with no problems and have them switch it right ? It's a Motorola Power 5g 2023. I would switch it myself but she also has hundreds of contacts and thousands of photos that I think are backed up, but not sure, and I can't afford to screw that up too. Lol

Trust me, this question wasn't stupid by any means. I've even run into this issue before. Any unlocked GSM device including the device you stated (moto g power 5g 2023) will absolutely be compatible with Metro By T-Mobile. Its actually great you're getting an unlocked phone instead of one from Metro By T-Mobile just because they usually hold more value and you can resell them and upgrade later. I already called a couple stores and ask, checked the internet, Metro sight, + spoke to Motorola, but, some of the people at the stores are not so bright, or trustworthy to begin with, and the internet,...you can get different answers, + lost in the vs + technical stuff, ect. Glad to get a coherent answer. Thank you. Also, I have some OCD, and are cheap + broke, so making sure is stressful to say the least. lol. Well it will at least be an upgrade from the 2020 stylus she has, with a bubbling/ deformed battery from her dropping it. And it will be better specs, about the same price, Definitely new, and this year's model instead of what they were pushing. Thank again. And have a good one. Much appreciated.

This is more of a compatibility question. I noticed that Metro stores only sell Samsung phones with 128GBs. Or they don't sell a specific phone in stores despite working on their carrier. If I buy an unlocked phone with 256 or 512 GBs, will it be compatible? I have a Motorola One 5G Ace, and I want to switch to a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
It'll work. I bought an unlocked z fold 4 and it worked for Metro
I currently have Spectrum wireless & they are the absolute worst I am thinking about purchaseing an iphone 14 off of Metro by T-mobile Spectrum wireless has terrible LTE connection & I hardly get any reception in my apartment complex unless I am in my unit. Wait, MetroPCS doesn't allow you to just take the SIM card out of the phone and place it into a different phone?? No way!! Since when???
Every carrier I've ever had, I can just move the SIM card and the phone works as long as it's compatible with the carrier or is an unlocked phone... This is crazy. I came across the video by accident. Glad I found it. Will avoid MetroPCS now.

After saying i want to use the same sim, i got a message stating i need to pick a new phone plan to make this switch. Why am I getting that message while you did not?
What US carriers allow just swapping a swim instead of all this app stuff. Verizon you have to do the same or call in. I was looking for the ease of use os just sim swapping if thats still possible ??

I just received a Google pixel 8a from T-Mobile and have a free government phone . Is it possible for me to take out my sim card from my Google pixel and put in my free government sim card on to my Google pixel 8a and have connection and free text and call on to my Google pixel 8a???
I have Metro but to get a deal on a new phone, I had to get the phone with another number.
Do I have to activate that phone with the new number and wait till the month is up to swap phones to continue using my old number? Or can I just try to activate the new phone with my old number using the My Metro App? Thanks!
I done that before the metro store i went to said for me to wait 2 1/2 weeks then preform the switch. And it worked w/o paying anything took a while but it worked!

@@klynstynklynstyn3486 from my experience if the locked phone is originally metro and gets unlocked, it won't work with metro anymore. I bought a unlocked t-mobile and had no issue.

Videos helpful but Samsung s22 was so complicated after spending time with customer service I told them to switch it to an Esim and it worked. Wasted a bunch of time. If your phones takes Esim just do that
Metro is making me change my plan to switch phones now.
No they aren't. Go back inside and demand they contact a Metro by T-Mobile representative and they will straighten it out. The stores are nothing but phone sales reps looking for a commission from you. Most of the time when you demand a representative they cave in and do it for you.
@@DL30Creations Thank you. I wasn't at the store since they impose a fee for switching phones there. I encountered issues with the free online self-service switch due to the insurance on my previous phone. They need to fix that problem. Fortunately, customer service completed the switch for me at no cost over the phone, as I was unable to do it myself on the website.
