Thank you Chris! Fun and very interesting to watch. I am in awe the people who build beautiful little machines and the people who can work on them. Brilliant.
WOW! This reminds me how important it is to have a big enough space to work in, as well as clean and uncluttered! I will need to take careful notes and pictures when I try to work on my own treasures! It is one thing to learn step by step disassembly and reassembly, but I hope to understand the why behind each part to make fixing them possible. Most of these mechanisms look like shrunk down and reshaped parts of clocks. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Chris, Watching you take apart the Bessa I has thoroughly discouraged me to attempt a CLA on my Bessa II. Thanks again I would have ruined a Classic.
Chris, I love seeing you do these shutter teardowns and cleanings. Could you please do a Prontor or Kodamatic/Supermatic soon? There are so many cameras that use those. I feel like I need to send you one of these to work on so I can see it on video! Keep it up. Thanks.
The Bessa I is a very nice camera. I compared the 3,5 Color-Skopar lens to the 4,5 Agfa Solinar (Agfa Record II) and 3,5 Jena Tessar (Ercona II) and they were equally good. The uncoated 3,5 Heliar (Rangefinder Bessa) wasn't as sharp, but this lens has other qualities, like the almost 3D effect. I kept the Ercona II and RF-Bessa and sold the rest.
Thanks so much Chris for filming and sharing this. Because of your clear instructions I was able to clean and fix the aperture blades on my Bessa RF, but I'm not sure how capable I am to fix the jammed shutter. Are you willing to service or repair other shutters?
Hi, I am starting to service a Perkeo 1, I am a beginner I may add, I got the front and back group out, but the centre group refuses to budge, tried friction rubber tools and a little hair dryer heat, getting nowhere, HELP!!!
Probably the shutter needs to be serviced. This requires the shutter to be completely stripped-down, cleaned and reassembled using appropriate lubrication. Do not attempt to adjust a shutter until it has been cleaned and serviced.

vorrei vedere il rimontaggio, sarà difficile?
Non credo. Guarda i video successivi e guarda cosa pensi
Do you still repair Bessa cameras? I have a Bessa II that has a very sticky shutter.
I retired a couple of years back and only repair my own cameras now, sorry.

That shutter is put together like an expensive WATCH!
