Chris! You fixed the aperture blades in my Perkeo II more than 20 years ago, and it’s been good as new ever since ! Thanks again for doing this repair. I thought for a moment this video was my camera but it’s not. Cheers!

Lovely service film. I have an old Perkeo II that I've started to use recently. Have to develop the film and see what I got. :-)

Those nuts are a bugger to locate. I usually find that a bit of spit on the tip of the index finger works wonders in holding small nuts and offering it to the screw. Low tech but it works.

Great video, thanks a lot - one question, how did you fix the camera not opening when pushing the button as shown in the beginning? Or did I miss that in one of the videos? Thanks!

watch the start and you'll see that I pushed the front open from inside the back and stated that most likely the front door had simply been pushed in too far.

@@ChrisSherlock Thanks for the reply - I also had a Perkeo II that did not want to open, but in my case it was not stuck, it just seemed the springs did not manage to push it open any more, even after trying to lubricate the hinges ...

Thanks for the video. I have one of these cameras. When I cock the shutter, I notice the shutter blades open and close very briefly. Is this a common problem, and one that is fixable? Or is this normal? (though I can't see how it would be normal as it would pre-expose the film.)

No, it shouldn't do that. There is a spring in the shutter which is supposed to keep the shutter blades firmly closed until the shutter is released. Perhaps the shutter is missing this spring, or perhaps the shutter just needs to be serviced.

Major fiddly nut and screw! 😡
