Glad you enjoyed the mountain state Beau. Like you said, the people might not have a lot, but they would give you the shirt off their backs. Hope you get to make it back down!
When I went down for the boar hunt this past winter, everyone I ran into said Josh was an arrogant prick. Sucks because he always seems so bubbly and fun to be around in all the videos. Glad you had a good time down here
Man I read your ‘Appalachian Whitetail Hunting’ essay in the Journal of Mountain Hunting a long time ago. It is one of the best pieces ever written on the subject in my opinion. I’m embarrassed to admit I had no idea you had a presence on TH-cam! Thanks so much for posting.
That was amazing to see!!! As a novice, self taught hunter born and raised in WV that really gets the blood pumping. Watching people hunt out of state and trying to use their tactics in my hunting here has been a struggle and a game of doing and learning the hard way. Our hills are not for the faint of heart and make playing the wind difficult. The amount of greenery we have especially in the hills that aren’t touched by the coal mines make bedding and food of abundance! It’s been so fun learning how to hunt WV and makes me proud to live here! Can’t wait to see more amazing hunts from home and make some content of my own!
This is the best whitetail hunting video I have ever watched. I’m from Ohio but have a long history of hunting whitetail in West Virginia. Absolutely beautiful state. Bow hunting Calvin Price State Forest mid October 2024 and I cannot wait. Great content fellas!!!!
Congrats brother! These mountains definitely aint for the weak hearted. You desered it man! Love seeing the guys i look up to in the industry come and hunt my home state!
I grew up hunting a lease down in Mingo county with a 130" minimum on bucks. As a kid, I remember it being so painful to sit in the stand and have to watch a 110" 8 point walk right on by me while I was still waiting to shoot my first buck. It's been a while since I've made it down to the southern 4 to hunt, but this video and listening to your podcasts about your experience down there has reignited my desire to hunt this rugged terrain. I'm preparing for an elk hunt in Montana next year, so I'm excited to learn a little more about spot and stalk hunting this fall by hunting the public land in Logan and Mingo counties. Thanks for highlighting the beauty and quality of deer right here in WV!
Great video ! Really enjoy the spot and stalk style hunts. I primarily hunt from tree stands but my favorite hunts I’ve experienced have been spot and stalks , it really brings out our primal hunter embedded in our DNA.
Really good video beau you displayed hunting in West Virginia unlike any other. I’m a west Virginia native myself and I’ve been hunting sense I was like 5 my dad would take me back on a reclaimed strip he use to hunt in the 90s and that’s where I’ve killed most of my deer and where I hunt my current deer. Just a really beautiful video.
What a great share. Thanks for taking us along. Great filming, we were right there with you. You're a " true " Hunter enjoying the whole experience. If you weren't real you would have drove home to show everybody the big one . Love it that you stayed to enjoy some more hunting. Nothing wrong with hunting does. If more keyboard warriors would get after it they would have more encounters. Excellent video!!!!!!
Congratulations Beau! Great buck and a great film to show the complete process of hunting. The grind, persevering, the kill, and all the moments with friends after.
First deer I ever shot was on my grandfathers property. Cornbread Ridge in WV. Now I’m living out here in NM hunting anything I can get a tag for. Gets in your blood like that coal dust!
Congratulations on a great Mountain ⛰️ buck 🦌 in the Mountain ⛰️ State there Beau. Afterwards I know those Country Roads took you home 🏠. I am glad you got a two for one special by also taking a doe too. Josh and the folks at Untamed know all about southern hospitality too. 😃🏹🦌
What a great video, I really enjoyed it! I normally don't watch these longer videos, but I was hooked right from the beginning. The camera work was great, presentation wasn't overly dramatic or long and drawn out. I just recently got into hunting and was lucky enough to take my first deer last year but that was after preparing for that moment for two years so that I can definitely relate too. Great job. I subscribed and am looking forward to more great content.
Hey, Beau! Ricky Bostic here, you featured my KY buck on Mountain Buck Monday not too long ago. Loved seeing you hunt here close to home. I’m as far East KY as you can get and border WV. I’m sure you’re not too far away from me. Keep dropping this 🔥 content man. It’s a pleasure to see 💪🏻🦌
Beau, I killed a very similar wva buck way up north in Preston county last season. Last day of bow before rifle, he was all rutted up chasing a doe, grunted him in to 10 yards. Nothing like a mountain state monarch! Great video, thank you!
Awesome video!!! I live in Logan and you got to have the right connections to be able to hunt these old strip jobs. Unfortunately most are leased up. But there's some giants on them. Would love to see u make a video hunting the Tomblin Wma. Be awesome to see your strategies and approach to hunting it.
Not to be a jerk , but why would he hunt public when you can be spoon fed private land spots ? I’ve been to tomblin and have heard it looks like a Walmart parking lot during November. I’ve been trying to get a lease or buy hunting land down there.
@nicksummerfield5408 good point. Just thought it would be cool to see how he hunts tomblin. There's a elite few who lease the good land down here. So good luck. And the times I've hunted tomblin it hasn't been bad. U just got to be willing to walk.
@@Josh.7703 I mean I’ll give him credit for spotting and stalking both deer that’s not an easy task. I’ve only killed a couple does spot and stalking with archery equipment and it was very rewarding. Being a resident of wv and I don’t live in the bow only counties I mean it would be neat to kill one in them counties , but we are starting to get them quality of bucks across the state they are just more of them there. I wanted to get a lease just for the bear and boar hunting. I can deer hunt on what I have.
I've got nothing against those untamed guys but most of the youtube content in WV is all on their barron land.. lol WV is not like that at all... Im gonna message you a couple public spots to scout Beau
Glad you enjoyed the mountain state Beau. Like you said, the people might not have a lot, but they would give you the shirt off their backs. Hope you get to make it back down!
Thank you!! I'll be coming back down in a few weeks to scout again!

As a West Virginian, I loved the robotic painful check-in number we have to call 🤣 This was an awesome hunt. Congrats.

Dude! September 15th here in MO. I'm ready to go!

Crawling across a road. Epic. Lol.

Good stuff
Great video Beau.
Thanks Todd!
Some beautiful country man good hunt!
Thanks John!
Awesome film man!
Thanks Reed!
Gotta love some gluten free bread! Great video sir.
If I was a whitetail buck, I’d want to go out this way. Chasing tail until my last breath and taken by a hunter that worked hard to get there.
Nice truck setup
Thanks James! I'm loving the Tundra!

Refreshing to watch someone hunt the proper way,and not over a corn pile.
Cinematography is spectacular! Gorgeous footage...pure eye candy. Looks like you shot this one on a sony? It has the Sony color tone to the footage.
Josh @wildsmedia did all the film work! He shot it on a Canon actually.
@@BeauMartonik Very nice…I’m a canon guy too.
Man I need to just drive down there and do it. Be hard with the single string tho. One day…
Looks like a cool hunt, very similar to elk country. Was this public or a lease? Love the cinematography!
Thank you!! This was a lease I got on down there!
Where in WV does it look like that. Where i have been is all straight up and straight down
What camera are you using?
👍
All leased and locked up
That’s a long edit. Wide angle of the stalk was 🤌
Thank you!
A great hunt.and you didn't have to use a pile of corn.like 90% of baiters do.i don't call them hunters.
I've got nothing against those untamed guys but most of the youtube content in WV is all on their barron land.. lol WV is not like that at all... Im gonna message you a couple public spots to scout Beau
Awesome video Beau, great job
Thanks Tyler!
Great film, man!
Thanks buddy!
