  • #Mumbai's road infrastructure is choking, travel times take hours longer than they should but activists appealed to the courts and managed a stay on the coastal road, further frustrating commuters. Bisbo gives you an overview of the project, spelling out the main features of the road and the main objections to it. The video is made keeping in mind non Mumbaikars, who can do a #Mumbaidarshan via the video. So have a look and enjoy the ride. #mumbaicoastalroad #mumbainews

    • @MashZ
      @MashZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @H J Just common sense. Hyperloop is literally planned to be a maglev in a low pressure tube. Maglev is already pretty expensive to build. Adding a tube around it and more infrastructure to maintain low pressure would be insanely more expensive. There's no way in earth that Hyperloop can be cheap to build

    • @MashZ
      @MashZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @H J And who will maintain the vaccum? It'll require lots of power to suck the air out using pumps and maintain the vaccume. Also, since It'll have electrical magnets like maglev, It'll require almost as much power as a maglev train. Some power will be saved due to lack of friction, but the power required to maintain the vaccume would be higher

    • @MashZ
      @MashZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @H J hyperloop would also need constant magnetic force to keep the train levitating and running. The vaccume is just there to eliminate friction with air, making high speed travel possible. So no, hyprloop cannot run without constant power. You should study more on it

    • @MashZ
      @MashZ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @H J It's basic physics. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed between various forms. So something in a vaccume won’t start magically running at high speed. To generate the kinetic energy, you need to use some other energy on it and convert it to kinetic energy. The kinetic energy(speed) wont just come out of thin air for the hyperloop to run. So It'll need power

    Logically speaking, no amount of roads can accommodate 1.5 crore people all riding in their personal metal boxes, when the destination and starting point

      You'll find plenty of comments justifying why fishermen and farmers need to lose their land and livelihoods for this and that.
      Then later, the same commenters will tell you we need to destroy more of nature because fishermen/farmers are out of livelihoods and we need to give them jobs.
      Like the commenter above who thinks they just have to row farther out into the ocean to catch fish. Never mind the physical exertion involved/cost of fuel, and the fact that they have no hope of competing with large fishing trawlers depleting stocks out in the ocean. All for a few hours of reduced time for middle class.

This is putting their lives in lot of unnecessary risk. Do you know the reason? The waste from industries and cities. We have already destroyed their livelihood. Environment should be the first priority we human beings are integral part of nature not seperate from it. If our mother gets destroyed we ourselves will be destroyed. And about development let projects take place without hurting the environment. Ok if your problem is pvt real estate agents then best thing to do is oppose them. If one person destroyes the environment it does not give right for others to do the same. Afterall two wrongs don't make one right. Also what justification does it takes to not conducting an environmental impact assessment.

    @dhruvpandya4136 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There is a counter argument to such development. It has been seen that new roads encourage more people to buy cars (European cities have stopped building new motorways). For example, metro 3 goes through Grant Road. Which already has a congested railway station and market. Many people from banganga, malabar hill, nepean sea road, peddar road have to rely on narrow congested roads to get grant road, which is not pedestrian friendly. The problem with such planning is that it completely ignores pedestrian walk paths. Many people will happily walk 1-3 kms given wide walk paths, subways. Which is great for traffic. The testament to success of such planning can be seen in fort. Let's see about the new parks. I live on the coast and the construction which has for over a year been incessantly drilling and working throughout night to the detriment of my health. They have built lot of offices and it looks like not an inch of green space will be created. They have infact taken a small part of the land from Priyadarshini park. The biggest problem even if they create green spaces, private residential land blocks of access to the promenades. How are these green spaces to be accessed, After filing multiple cases has BMC clarified that the zone will not be commercialized. Land mafia is not to be underestimated. I really have stopped caring about benefits because most Mumbaikars don't really give a shit about dynamite being blasted at night. Because they get to enjoy the open road from the result of my insomnia, Rant end

    Flyovers, highways and coastal expressways. These are part of American car culture. A man doesn't necessarily need to buy expensive car and has to move tonnes of weight for a single person in order to move around city. And building more roads has only proven to increase traffic and car usage in US. US is making up fot the mistakes they made by decommissioning those coastal roads. We need to disincentivize the use of cars in the city and follow European model where public transport, bicycle lanes and pedestrian zones help the city in aspects such as efficiency, cost of living, quality of life, eco-friendliness.
    This comes with another con that it'd impact mental health and productivity of Mumbaikars. They'd rather have a coastal park than flyovers everywhere further alienating and irritating them with constant honking and pollution. Compare this with one of the pros you mentioned : "You'll get to view home of celebrities."
