Awesome video...thank you so much for sharing. I was in Sydney when I was in the military stationed in Okinawa back in 96. Such a beautiful country....and their people.....man!!!! So friendly. I would love to go back to see how it has changed. I am so sorry about the summer fires.

Very unusual to track north and swing past Chatswood. I could see my place quite clearly. It was lovely during covid, no noisy planes and very few cars. I say bring it back. Very peaceful and relaxing.

I wondered why she was turning to the South either going to Mel or JNB where they often fly just west of Mel going South . They use 787’s on that route now. I suspect he was using the Syd-Mel route turning just before Wollongong towards Melbourne. These flights often fly over the edge of Antartica to get favourable winds.

OMG!!! What cherished memories this video gave me when I left Sydney in 2002 at the end of my Australian tour of almost two weeks and one week visiting friends near Melbourne. The sight of the Sydney Harbor Bridge reminded me of my BridgeClimb tour the day before. I still cannot believe I did that climb with my fear of heights! It was the most exhilarating moment of my life!!! What a way to end THE trip of a lifetime almost 20 years ago. I hope to get back to Australia someday.

@@conandis5542 In what way? More high rise buildings? Do you live there? LOVED my visit to Sydney but ran out of time to see the world-famous Opera House since I did the BridgeClimb Tour on my final full day down under. My final night was spent dining at the top of the Tower Restaurant in the downtown area. It was a memorable meal since the restaurant revolved once about every two hours. Sure wish some of my Aussie tour mates had dined with me since the city views were SPECTACULAR!

@@DougCeleste Lived in Sydney for 35 years but left in 2001. I get back there often enough to realise that Sydney is definitely different from what it was in the late 90's to early 2000's. For example. More people on the road = more congestion on the streets therefore it takes you longer to reach your destination. All those kids like myself are all grown up and have their own cars. Everything is pay parking now. Even when you drive to the beach you have to pay minimum $20 at the parking meters! Most of the roads are toll ways. The Sydney skyline has changed. More high rise buildings for sure. The expansion of the greater Sydney metropolitan area as well. There are new suburbs out West and South the names of some I cannot pronounce eg: Pemulwuy 🤔 Don't get me wrong Doug. I'm not complaining. It's just interesting to see the changes over time. If you do come back down under then please make sure your pockets are full. Cost of living has gone up 💹

@@DougCeleste Oh forgot to ask. Do you remember how much you paid for your bridge climb back in 2002? I bet you it's 2 or 3 times that amount now!

@@conandis5542 Thanks for sharing your interesting comments. Are you a native from Australia? LOVED the city immensely and would LOVE to go back someday. It was congested when I was there in 2002 but I would hate to see how much more congested it is now. Sounds like driving there is even more of a nightmare than before. I could not get over that Aussies drive on the opposite side of the road than us Americans do and that the steering wheels are on the right sides on vehicles. For me, crossing streets was VERY chaotic since I had to look for traffic on the roads totally different than in the USA. And I would NEVER drive down under for fear of driving on the wrong side of the road and getting into a head-on crash. No thanks!! Let someone else do the driving and that is why I took my tour after spending a week with friends who lived near Melbourne. Cheers mate from New Mexico USA!

Great view of the harbour. I've got a similar one on my channel a bit higher and going the other way because we were coming into Sydney and extending the pattern out over Botany Bay to land in the same direction as you took off. On one occasion I was approaching Sydney straight in from the north and anticipated a good recording of the harbour but the internal window was that scratched, the camera couldn't focus beyond it.

East to West take off from the Bayside to out over Lakemba and St. Peters industrial area, inner Southwestern suburbs, and the City, and circling around to East and then due South. Unusual, must've been a strong Westerly wind prevailing. Most ever have landed aporoaching from that direction or taken off from the West end (or on the North / South.). I think it is the most scenic approaching from the West or taking off from the West and out over Botany Bay to the East.
At least you were on the correct side of the aircraft for that take-off, poor buggers on the Port side only got a view of the South Pacific out to the East and half way to New Zealand.
So, how come you seem to be setting course due South when the vid cut out? Or were you going down to the People's Communist Republic of Absurdistan (formerly the Australian State of Victoria) for a transit / passeger pickup? Were you going Europe via Melbourne and Perth?
Or was this that one they retired to the Albion Park museum near Woolongong South of Sydney? (Man, didn't they flog the absolute living Chritsmas out of the brakes and reverse thrust when they landed that one on that little Cricket Pitch of a runway there?!😳😆 There is good vid of this).
