A full edition of the classic oft-remembered ITV daytime cooking show, with Grace Mulligan. This comes from a tatty scotch tape I bought at a car boot sale. It paid off.
My sister used to trick me into believing this farmhouse was where we were staying for our holidays, I believed her for years... I wish we had though, imagine all that wonderful food to eat !
I bought the Complete Farmhouse Kitchen Cook Book from Amazon a couple of years ago. It's brilliant. and now I've just sent off for baking edition. Lovely programme!
I bought the complete farmhouse kitchen cook book on Amazon a couple of years ago, a treasured posession. Happy memories of watching this with my late grandma who loved this programme ❤
Thank you so much for posting, even if you could only manage the one. She really was so worth watching. Always the best tips and advice - and in true Scottish fashion, economical as well. Bless you
I have just read that Grace Mulligan has died aged 91. A lovely quote from the Yorkshire Post about filming Farmhouse Kitchen "the camera operators carried forks in their top pockets - in one case getting their hands on the Crêpes Suzette, out of shot, before Grace had finished delivering her closing piece to camera" :O)
I remember that before Grace there was an older lady that did these shows and grace was a guest now and then before she took over. I would love to see a clip of the original lady.
I remember the old lady. You're right, it would be great to see clips with her. Takes me back to being a kid, if I was off school this would be on....And Crown Court lol
Dorothy Sleightholme she was called, she perished in a car accident, I seem to remember. And I'll see your crown court and raise you, Paint along with Nancy !! Lol. Those were the days laid on the sofa off school with measles .
Oh my ...caramel squares are what we now call Millionaires Shortbread..... I still have the recipe book.best one for basic home cooking. Love the malt loaf and a saving 20p by making it.... This is how we managed back then...
I used to watch this with my mum, not because we were particularly interested in the cooking (which I'm sure was very good) but we simply found the whole programme so corny, so like a WI group, so serious. So - sorry if this offends people, but we spent most of the time being amused at it all. I seem to remember that when Dorothy finished her demonstration, she had to walk about 10 feet behind Grace to make her way off the screen. So Grace would be chatting away and Dorothy would be creeping slowly at the back, desperately trying not to be noticed. That was the highlight of the programme for us!
I love this show. I just came across it, but being from America I don't recognize many of the ingredients she is using. Oh, well. I am just watching for fun anyway.
Just read in the Yorkshire Post that Grace has sadly died aged 91. RIP Mrs Mulligan www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/news/death-of-farmhouse-kitchen-tv-host-grace-mulligan-at-91-1-9233320
I liked farmhouse kitchen wish somone wouls show the original presenter Dorothy Sleightholme . i personally prefer the original presenter Dorothy Sleightholme she always spoke slower and came came across much clearer and warmer than Grace mulligan maybe that is why it winded out it simply was not the same and had run its purpose. Grace mulligan was better when she was a guest .
Why did TV/cookbook food look so shit in the 60’s/70’s/80’s? It can’t all be the introduction of the filter. My mam had this cookbook full of the most unappealing shit ever; there was only a big trifle on the cover~ it just looked kinda..’icky’ -weird.
Because no-one had invented the post of 'food stylist ' then! The food is cold, and collapsed or shriveled having been long out of the oven. Or dried out under the studio lights..now the food shown would be really inedible, brushed with oil, colourings, sprayed with mixes and spotlit. It might look better but it wouldn't taste it.

This is wonderful....no food porn, no fancy camerawork, no lifestyle....just honest and simple cooking.
Ye gods. I did the sound for these programmes, I think I gained half a stone by the time we had finished
Sounds fun! :-)
I always liked the theme tune and the camera panning the cosy studio kitchen at the start. It was a great little show for eighties daytime tv.
Did you really all belong to Grace?
I remember one show where they hadn't cut the cameras and the crew were coming in from all directions 😂❤
Must have been fun to work on this show! Was Grace lovely?
Aww I loved Grace! Farmhouse Kitchen was one of the things my mum watched at lunchtime with me when I was off school!!!!
Grace has been an inspiration.
I bought the Complete Farmhouse Kitchen Cook Book from Amazon a couple of years ago. It's brilliant. and now I've just sent off for baking edition. Lovely programme!
This show brings so many memories back watching this with my mum in the 70s I was always off school with chest infections!
So wholesome and straightforward. Love it!

haha Crown Court - - seemed to go hand in hand with the guilt of not being at school and the double guilt of watching banal daytime tv.
Dorothy Sleightholme she was called, she perished in a car accident, I seem to remember. And I'll see your crown court and raise you, Paint along with Nancy !! Lol. Those were the days laid on the sofa off school with measles .
@@E92M3Guy I see your Crown Court and Painting with Nancy and raise you a thrilling episode of The Beiderbecke Affair.
Ive got the book with recipes by Dorothy Sleighthome... Its got some contributions by someone called Mary Berry. I wonder what she went on to do.....

This programe is just like Annie Sugdens Kitchen in Emmerdale Farm
I love your simplicity😄❤️
God! If I was a big lad watching this programme, I would have asked for the recipe book
Oh my ...caramel squares are what we now call Millionaires Shortbread.....
I still have the recipe book.best one for basic home cooking.
Love the malt loaf and a saving 20p by making it....
This is how we managed back then...
Lovely gentle accent, nice relaxed cookery, I like it.
The older lady was Dorothy Slightholme ,she sadly died in a car accident so grace became the presenter .
I loved Dorothy, so much like my Grandma. i never knew she died that way.

Same here. Great stuff.
This lady had to be the study material for mrs. doubtfire for robin williams
Why? That's really quite insulting!
For some reason fresh yeast vanished from the supermarkets in the early 2000s. I suppose dry yeast works as well and has a longer shelf life.
Any half decent health food shop should be able to provide you with fresh yeast.
Paul Lally in the continuity booth
I think it's Redvers Kyle.

All cooked in the traditional farmhouse microwave
