It is actually implied in their stats that THEY ARE EVIL by nature the only thing that is holding them back is their absolute obedience to Ainz. They are aware what they are doing is horrible but they just simply don't care, they don't have any sympathy towards humans in the first place, only love to Ainz.

I'm surprised that everyone keeps getting surprised over Nazrick inhabitants doing evil things, when they are in fact an evil faction in the first place. It's like raging and reeing over a bird for flying. Every single person who comments "dropped" in clips of this show over Nazrick's behavior just makes me shake my head. Absolutely missing the point.

The whole reason i like Overlord is that Ainz is trying to build a peaceful utopia in the most evil and brutal way possible, its funny asf, the characters are really funny too.
im surprised people are jumping on the mindless bandwagon and refusing to acknowledge the simple fact that EVERY single faction in the New World is evil to some extent, entities like Theocracy being much worse than what Sorcerer Kingdom represents. Momonga isn't even that evil compared to all other rulers in that world. He's pretty much a very sane choice for an ordinary citizen.
Also, worth noting: at least half the crimes are because every single person but Momonga himself is an NPC with a backstory written by members of a clan made of roleplayers playing nonhumans who were being oppressed by human players on an MMO until they formed a guild and became strong enough to *be* the oppressors. Everyone but Momonga is purpose built to be insane, and Momonga essentially has depression minus the suicidal thoughts because he's an undead, which suppresses his strong emotions. The fact he's pushing as hard as he is for a utopia even in those conditions is impressive.
Mare then reduced a whole kingdom to rubbles…. By herself. Coccytus only went into secure the castle but Mare was in charge of reducing everything to dust with whoever was still in there.
U mean a pair of traps ^_^. Their creator had a thing for crossdressing so when he made his NPC he made it so Aura (who is a girl) dress like a boy n Mare (who is a boy) dress like a girl. In terms of age in the LN they are close to 100 yrs old. In elf years that's still a child. But despite their appearance they are both incredibly strong in physical attacks n magical attacks. They look like that to throw their opponents off in letting their guard down thinking they are fighting a pair of children. Bandits made the same mistake when trying to attack Shaltear carriage.

In a bonus story maruyama wrote PDL attacked her with his real body and won. Literally quoted... the armor is NOT the Platinum boy its just a toy of his... the platinum dragon is MUCH more powerful than Shaltear lmfao...
Mare is like shaman from populous: the beginning. I mean I think the bees were one of the worsf spells. Tornado and volaco were just ridiculous, and summoned dragons were just... GG, and thaf was just from getting cheats on demo disk on Playstation, but I never learned how I activated the cheats. If I did I spent my whole day playing one level, because they would lock down again if I continued to next level. Swamp was annoying for myself too. Armageddon was fun, because it was like slow version of tornado, but if one rock hit you then it was insta death. Buildings would still be abke to tank hits.
I didn't read the LN but I watched the anime and it's pretty solid and interesting. Everytime a book adapts to a movie or a series it's obvious that some details will be lost in the process. Still I enjoyed a lot watching Overlord
