A lot of times it's been replaced with a piece of sponge scrubber. When I checked mine it was hard as a rock 🤦♂️ I noticed that when I ordered a new one from Honda recently it was made from a different material than the old ones were so I'm hopeful it may hold up to fuel a bit better and not dissolve
I can’t offer much help. If you remove the control assembly on the right side you can undo the cables and then get to them behind the chrome cover on the left side. Then it’s just feeding them through. It’s pretty simple once you get in there
I replaced mine not too long ago as it had a huge hole in the middle and when I opened up my carbs to rejet them, I found pieces of the old filter in there, I imagine that’s not good for the carbs lol
I just replaced mine back in June 2020. I'm going to inspect it in early Spring and every couple of months after to try to prevent it from getting terribly bad. No more than it cost I may just replace it in the Spring.
@@jamesrevels I just bought my bike back in May, I knew nothing about Magna's other than cleaning the carburetors was a royal pain in the _ _ _. My dad owns a 1st gen I have been trying to get him to go riding with me. Maybe I'll get him out this Spring.
It's not even mentioned in the owners manual.. that's terrible!! I just found out today about this and I replaced the disintegrated one with a small piece of scotchbright pad

How to put new throttle cables on... Please help

When I had mine rebuilt a few months ago the guy found bits of debris in them. Most likely what it was from
What’s the purpose of the secondary air filter?.
It’s to allow clean air to the underside of the diaphragm in the carbs so it doesn’t create a vacuum effect when the slides are moving

I’m so curious if you ride using the foot rest on the crash bars and is it more comfortable
On longer rides I do use it. Being able to move around helps with stiffness on long rides.
