Dry ice works well on the bitumen sound deadening. Makes it brittle and then it cracks away
Was going to say the same thing. Dump a bag of dry ice on the rubber coating and it turns brittle like a dorito and comes apart easily, leaving essentially no residue. Makes the job a 30 min job.

I’d say need to earn some more coin from videos and a stradale build to pay for the next steps on the BB! Paint and Engine rebuild won’t be cheap!!
Scott, try dry ice next time you’re trying to peel the underlayment out. It makes it so brittle, you can smack it with a mallet and it shatters off. Saves loads of time and frustration. Great video!

I know I did it myself about 10 years ago the costs are crazy. I did it with a good spider and crashed stradale. I now have a real stradale and it does drive so much better no replacement for having a stiffer body shell, did sound awesome though.
I would like to see where you are on the BB too.

To remove that sound deadening use dry ice to freeze it and it shatters right off. Very effective!
How about an update on the 512BBi restoration? These other cars are cool, but for me the 512BBi restoration was the one that I was mostly interested in.
I don't disagree here. But on the other hand, don't necessarily mind the scattered nature of these projects. At the end of the day Scott is investing a lot to keep us entertained. Whatever generates the proper ad revenue to keep these videos going is fine by me. He gets around to completing things in due time. There's also a parts supply issue in the world currently so perhaps certain projects need to remain on hold while he's also trying to keep the videos coming out. Scott knows what he's doing.

The 512 project was vastly more interesting that the othermuch more common cars. Even if there is a hold up in one area another can usually proceed.
getting parts and paint takes awhile, kids.

Everyone that's ever built a race car knows that you use dry ice to freeze the sound deadening. When it's nice and cold, you tap it with a hammer and it shatters. You definitely did it the hard way.

This is quite fascinating watching the detail differences between the models, all the while making something unique, but Im starting to get some 512BBi withdrawal symptoms... :) Nice work though!

Surely the Ferrari 512BBi has been resprayed by now, its been a long time since you dismantled the car, looking forward to seeing it.
Really really impressive , I still don't know how you can carry on with all the projects you have at the same time without making a mess with all of them, I take my hat off man.
For future reference, to get rid of the residue left over from the sound deadening, I pour some standard thinners on it and it literally wipes straight off.
Maybe someone can explain this to me...

Why would you even take the bitumen out? Any weight saving from the stradale is lost with the extra body stiffening’s for the missing roof.
Im guessing the stradale doesnt have the sound deadening from the factory.

Think it’s been mentioned already but dry ice is the way forward for removing the sound deadening material. It all comes off easily and doesn’t leave any sticky residue behind.
I have been there with the Gooey stuff - nightmare - best goo cleaning method I came across would bring back the ice blaster kit it clears up the insulation and gooey stuff really well .... great project!,
+1 for the many comments suggesting dry ice. It kills the adhesive and you can pretty much lift the sound deadening panels straight off leaving no residue. Not exactly the most useful information though right now considering the CO2 shortage haha

Hey mate great videos… what’s the latest updates on the White BBi 512 do you still have it?
If you use dry ice for the soundproof material , it'll freeze and harden and you'll be able to chip it off.
To get that sound deadening off, use dry ice and rubbing alcohol. You need to mash up the dry ice for the best result and the alcohol transfers the cold to the sound deadener and it literally pops right off. Easy-peasy.

For future projects try Eucalyptus oil. I find it gets rid of most gooey glue without using harsh chemicals

If the CD refuses to work on a newer OS then Oracle VM VirtualBox is an easy way to run older operating systems.
The Challenge Stradale. It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend converting one 😋

I used freeze spray on my old track car to get the stuff off, super easy, but quite expensive.
If you dry ice the sound deadening it won’t leave goo it pops right out.
dry ice is the best, fastest and cleanest way to remove that floor

Surely the Stradale suspension/anti-roll bar will have been designed and optimised to work on the much lighter car?
And probably stiffer coupe!
To get that sound deadening off use dry ice and a chisel. Works easy.
Getting that tar based coating off is to use dry ice and a rubber mallet and it comes off cleanly
another way to remove sound deadening is to use lots of dry ice, then whack it with a hammer...the cold freezes it very solid and when you it, it just breaks up and is more easily removed. (use insulated gloves)
Just a thought, but who ever ends up with these cars is going to find it a nightmare to source bushings, brakes etc if the chassis numbers are used to identify the parts required.
Doffs cap to you for doing the work though.
Just seen a video showing how to get the insulation off the floor. Use dry ice instead of the heat gun, so much quicker and easier
What will happen to the donor car once project is finished?
What’s going on with the BB? Long time since we’ve heard anything….
Check the proportioning valve and the master cylinder for differences. The strad might have a more aggressive setup not only the calipers and rotors..
What’s the difference between the engines? I’m sure the silver has more HP, different cams intake exhaust? Just swap the engines?
The only question i have is : aren’t you diminishing value of both cars by making a stradale clone and disassembling a stradale to a regular 360 ?

Dry ice does an amazing job of shifting sound deadening
100% next time get some dry ice and tin foil. Break it up into little bits and leave it on the sound deadening with the foil over the top to keep the dry ice from subliming too quick, then use a rubber mallet or deadblow hammer to just knock it off in chunks. The glue freezes, loses its bond and there's no residue

2:30 Try the opposite: freeze it with dry ice and remove it in chunks
Use dry ice to get rid of the nasty sound deadening rubber stuff!
Sometimes using an oil will help you get gooey adhesives off. Hope that helps

2 quick questions...
1) Why is this being done (what is wrong with the Stradale doner car)?
2) How will it work with the Log Book details (Will the car have to be inspected before the Log Book details can be changed to show it's now a Stradale model)?

Try dry ice on the sound deadening it freezes it and it chips off easy

Top tip use dry ice spread it all over the sound deadening for ten mins or more you will start to hear it crackle and pop then it will just pop off easily with no mess please try it.... It WORKS!! really well.

Dry ice Scott. Sound deadening will shatter and take it's goo with it. Search for a tutorial. Takes literally minutes.
Would be interesting to see you try to use dry ice to remove the sound insulation like it's done on VWs.

To run the CD you could try compatibility mode under right mouse click - properties - otherwise you can use Windows XP in a virtual machine on both an Win 10 or Mac machine
Freeze sound deadening with liquid nitrogen....it goes really brittle and shatters when tapped with a hammer...
Neat little trick seen on Ed China's channel put a rubber glove under brake master cap.

Is the cs dash and center console available to put into a normal 360 ? If not can I atleast put in the center console ? I seen you had a extra cs hanging in your garage

Soak that residue with Tar & glue remover & then scar ape it up with a steel blade that will get it off
Did the Spider come from Denmark? The battery looks to be from a Danish store.

That cd looks suspicious like the fiat/Alfa/lancia elearn software, which does the exact same thing as what you said about that Ferrari software. The fiat elearn system works in windows 10 (I tested it) and you can rip that cd and mount it and it still works (from my experience)
Build a 32bit Windows 10 machine. That’s worked for all of my old software installs from the XP days.
