I use the 70-200 mkii with the 2x on my A9 & I've owned the 100-400 which is a great lens. Honestly IMO the above combo renders the 100-400 a nonsensical buy, the performance is that good. I actually prefer the constant f5.6 aperture too. I've never tried the 1.4 TC but I guess that the performance may be even slIghtly better again. The 70-200mkii is a beast of a lens on the A9 & similar bodies

Thank you very much for your useful comment. Honestly, I will visit Kenya for the first time in my life this month, and I will have my first experience in photographing animals, but I am afraid, confused and hesitant. I have an a7rv camera and a 70-200 gm2 lens. I do not know whether to buy a 2X teleconverter or I buy a new additional lens 600-200 and the trip leader. He says better take two cameras bodies.

Mate, majestic animal shots and pairing that with the music was absolutely spot on! Drew some water out of this old stone.

Amazing photos!!! I have a Sony A7IV and waiting on my 70-200 GM II in a couple weeks. If I can get pics half as good as these, I'd be thrilled!

Such beautiful pictures Dean, outstanding. Is there any chance you could put a link up for that folding lens hood? I can’t find anything in the UK that’s 95mm for the 200-600. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks again for the pics!

its a great lens for stills and video, the speed on the tracking side was very fast and pin sharp, 100% worth the money, thanks for watching

Those are great pictures Dean, I am debating to spend the 3K in US for this lens (that is backordered here for a while now), question, were all the pictures in this video taken with the 70-200 or did you use your other telephoto, I own the 100-440 GM and is a fantastic one, but, heavy , I am considering selling it and buying the 70-220 with a 1.4 extension , I'd be interested on your take on that alternative ...

Same boat with you. I'd love to have the 100-400 in addition to 70-200 II, but 1) can't afford it 2) don't want to carry 100-400 on my hikes. I'm debating on 1.4x vs 2x. I'd like the extra reach of 2x but wonder how much degradation in quality the image is from 1.4x.

all taken with the 70-200 + 1.4 , the birds were so close to the 4x4 windows, i have the 100-400 GM lens as well along with the 200-600 but i would keep them all as i do a lot of video work which allows me to have two set ups on the go, i do know a few other photographers that have sold there 100-400 for the 70-200 + 1.4tc and have no regrets, the Sony 100-400gm lens is an old lens now and i think maybe Sony will upgrade it with a mkii and if it has internal zoom like the 200-600 then i would get one, (just a thought)

The photo of the leopard coming down the tree is 🔥🔥🔥 how’s the AF with the 1.4x on? Were all photos taken with the 1.4 on?

no problem with the focusing in fact you will not even know you have a 1.4tc on, all taken with the Sony a9ii and Sony 70-200 + 1.4tc

Fantastic captures. How do you like the 70-200 especially for safari and for general purpose bird photography with 1.4x tele. I am intrigued by the portability and currently have 200-600

The lens with 1.4tc is a good combo which I use along with my 200-600, 70-200 I put with my A7R3 as I need the resolution for cropping also in low light photography even night photography this lens is a killer on my A9II, IS A JOY TO USE
