Thank you for your review of Substack, it was very helpful. I've been poking around a bit on it for the past few days and I definitely like that it's not overly bloated as you stated.
I just learned about substack yesterday. It looks cool. The ghost platform looks cool, too. I think I like the minimalism of substack. The fact you can do more design with the ghost tool is great, but it's also a distraction in some ways, if your goal is simply to write and reach people with content vs. design. I love the podcast feature of substack, too.
After watching the video I just want to give you a hug bc I've been looking for this exactly and when you're not in the tech world nobody tells you anything and I'm pretty lost. Thank you!

Hi Alastair ... my client has deep expertise in multiple areas ... Should he setup separate Substack accounts for each area, or should he consolidate all of his writings in one account? .. thx much ...
No. Medium's route to monetization is fcking clunky & hit-&-miss. With Medium - monetization is a distant prospect. With SubStack - it's the absolute immediate purpose - like Patreon.
@@Lucentlens Thank you for your reply! 😊 I was really only asking if Substack and Medium were comparable as to purpose, format, function, accessibility, etc., because I wasn’t familiar with Substack at all at the time I posted this question. I’m not a creator, so I wasn’t really thinking along the lines of monetization, though I always hate to learn that creator-driven platforms don’t always practice in fair monetization schematics for those who grow the platforms. (Ex: The OnlyFans BS in last couple years). Since then, I have become more acquainted with Substack, and I have joined some creators’ portals. Thx again! 👋🏻 😊
I just learned about this and am really interested. I do have a question if anyone can help. I would like to do some writing about political and social issues and also a bit of philosophical pr religious content. However, I am a conservative. On a scale of 1-100 where 1 is Far, far left and 100 is far, far right and 50 is moderate, I am about a 75 or 80. So my question if anyone can help... would they limit conservative ideas or thought like a lot of social media does? (I would like to hear from people regardless of political affiliation about this but f you think that conservative views are not limited moreso than left-leaning views, no need to reply just to tell me that.) To be clear, I don't plan to write anything "extreme" or "hateful" but we live in an age where people (of all political persuasions) are easily offended. I just don't want to put the time in effort into something like this if it is going to get shut down because my opinion hurts someone's feeling if I am still reflecting that opinion in a respectful way. I suppose I can still start and save all my stuff in another location as well but I just want to make sure it will be a good long term investment. (Sorry, if the video covers any of this. I was only able to get partway through.) Will come back later to check for answers. Appreciate any feedback.
It seems to be founded on anti-censorship principles - so you should be fine. Hell - merely dispensing with political correctness is enough to land one at the 80% region of your scale, I imagine.
ONLY reason why I'm watching your video is because i randomly got an Email requesting me to "confirm my email" i don't know what the shit it is .. and the 1st 60 seconds of this video I'm over it.. AND HONESTLY I'm fucking offended that my email randomly got implemented, ESPECIALLY for some shit no one cares about.

Thanks for this. Will substack allow me to make some of my articles free and others behind a paywall?

Hmm, Social Media for writers?
Is it only writing or can video be added
Great video
can it be used as a journal to document your journey / transformation??
thank you
interesting
Every blog ever has had the ability to sub to update email notifications.
Can I add images to blogs?
No one uses email for that. Maybe they should create a sub stack app with push notifications. Or text messages
Why is it called substance?
So basically Substack is like Medium?
