    St Germaine, agree, not Monmartre too far out for a first timer. Le Marais, yes. But the ultimate central is the first, love it.

    I am so excited to
    See this video. I am going soon and planning. I can’t wait. My husband is going for a work trip. And he isn’t excited to go the Paris. He is a county man and doesn’t like big cities but this was a place I want to explore for my life’s buckets list. We need budget friendly, enjoyable and not too hard to get around. But also not going crazy with tourist things more to enjoy being in Paris.

    Totally agree that St. Germain is the best area for first-timers (or any timers). We be visiting Paris in May and will be staying in Latin Quarter (almost St. Germain).

    I so agree with you. I was sure you’d say the 7th arrondissement…glad you didn’t. The only thing there is the Eiffel Tower. We always stay in the 6th because it’s very walkable to everything, metro accessible, and the food is terrific.

    Very informative video, thank you. I’m visiting Paris in July for 3 days before I hop on a cruise in Cannes. I’ve been trying to decide on a location . The trip is for my 17yrs old daughter’s graduation but I also have some elderly family members coming as well. I’m trying to fulfill her wishes with an itinerary as well as locating a safe convenient hotel for my family.

    Your suggestions are great! Have organised a walking food tour in Le Marais. Last time stayed in an Airbnb in that district and it’s truly marvellous. Each visit I’ve deliberately stayed in a different area to experience the whole city. Cheers from 🇦🇺

    Stayed in Le Marais in May ‘24. Way less touristy than St. Germain and a reasonable walk to Notre Dame. Loved the neighborhood. Very Paris but I agree on night life lacking. That said, most tourists are beat by 8:00. Go to ‘Bouillon’ the restaurant by Place de la Republique. Great experience that will not break your budget. Line up is intimidating but if there’s only two of you, they will move you in quickly.

    • @jimmyandbabstravels
      @jimmyandbabstravels  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Apartment/Airbnb vs Hotel can depend on your length of stay. Lately it seems Airbnb with the cleaning fees are similar in price to hotels, but they can be smaller, no daily cleaning and the beds vary. If you can snag an Airbnb deal do it but it seems to be similar pricing to hotels.

    • @jimmyandbabstravels

      We recommend Saint Germain, it’s convenient to public transit, walkable and close to many of the top attractions. Le Marais is nicer, quieter, but quite pricey.

    St. Germain is not a bad choice but Montmartre I would never choose - too many tourists, nearby Pigalle is the red light district and is really seedy and is too hard to get to. The Marais contains the gay district and is full of noisy activity sometimes late at night and I wouldn't call it romantic Paris or even the "real" Paris. This couple seem like really nice people but they are clearly newbies to Paris. I also wish that they would take an introductory French course to learn proper pronunciation. Consider staying on the Ile St. Louis, around the Musée d'Orsay, near the Parc Monceau, near place de la contrescarpe.

      We don't have a list of less expensive arrondissements, however there are some budget places to stay in the ones we recommend. It all depends on what you are trying to do while in Paris, we focused on central areas that also have good transportation.

    The best option is Pigalle/St. George/Sopi. These two are clueless, but are going to advise you were to stay even though they’ve only spent a few days in their entire lives in Paris.

      @@jimmyandbabstravels, Pigalle is widely considered to be one of the best options amongst travelers and people who live in Paris since it is central enough to walk to many tourist attractions, has some of the best and most authentic restaurants, is well connected by metro, yet is not overrun by large groups of people. Unlike you, I do have a flat in Paris and have spent significant time there. So, you stayed in Pigalle “the last time”, by which you mean the only time, but you’re going to recommend a bunch of other neighborhoods that you don’t actually know? Sure thing. Unlike you, I do have a flat in Paris and have spent significant time there. Bunch of clowns, these two are….
