Its not 30 + hp maaximum for this with rpm in video it is 16hp...its not real ...
That thing is insane! So over the top yet classy at the same time.
Exactly, they nailed it on this one and insane is a good choice of words for this one and that black Monkey with the G-Craft frame in the background. It's not often I can't think of something I'd want to change when looking at a build but this one is damn near perfect with mixing a little old-school in there with some of the baddest new-school goodies you can find.

I like how it looks but I would not spend $30k(?) on a monkey.
Mine still under $6000 after DHM stage 2 with Yoshi.
I would like them to build a bobber or chopper like the southeast asian shop did.
These kind of builds definitely aren't for everyone but we all have different needs when it comes to satisfying that "itch" so-to-say lol!
That DHM stage 2 setup definitely wakes them up and makes them a lot more fun over stock. You still running the stock intake or have you upgraded that as well?
That'd be cool to see! You don't see many wild builds like they do overseas which is why I was blown away when I found out about Wayne being just a couple hours south of me pumping out minis like this one and more.
30+ HP?! My DR650 probably doesn't make 40HP!

yah ...it sounds REAL good but 20 to 25hp in such a small frame would....
but I got a question for you... does this honda have a real clutch or an automatic clutch
I ask because I had a Honda 50cc Mini decades ago and it was an automatic clutch
and sense the Honda Monkey is the same thing just a bigger cylinder it makes me wonder
and I haven't heard any reviews that have mentioned that.... thanks
Very possible in racing setup but durability is poor for daily use
My thinking is, if you throw enough money, time and talent at any stock platform you can take it to whatever level you want. No question this is a masterpiece or mini-piece depending on perspective. ;-)
Me personally? I always believe in buying something closer to the end result I am look for.
Don't try to change a Camaro into a Corvette. Wasting your time and money. Buy a Corvette.
In this space, I would take a stock Monkey or Grom and put a bigger Honda engine in it from a wrecked bike. More displacement is better.
I wouldn't carbon it all up including the wheels...custom paint job, better turn signals etc but with an eye toward cost consciousness.
Truthfully, just buy a 300cc motorcycle where you don't have to change the engine, put a custom paint job on it and call it good.
I like the vintage paint job, and it is putting out some bhp's. Excellent video as usual Kevin. Thank you for sharing and ride safe.
Yeeaaah buddy, she's definitely putting out a few of those ponies lol! The paintwork is definitely icing on the cake and brings it all together, they really nailed it on this build.

Ahh, didn't even think about that but when stock, the tank isn't that much of an issue but with engine mods like this, it definitely zaps that factory 150 MPG rating. You've got me curious on how many miles a tank Bud gets on her now with this setup...

As a tuned monkey owner I can confirm, this is a huge problem for me😅
I hired Wayne at the speed shop to put a cb300f engine in my monkey. I needed a small bike, more horsepower and RELIABLE! We used Steady Garage connecting components- Kevin there was a HUGE help. Monkey has done Utah to Chicago, salt lake city to Chicago, yellowstone to Chicago, pheonix to death valley to Denver and many other trips without problems. Plenty of torque at 11k feet in elevation. Oil, chain and tire attention and that's it. Oh, the aracer is too rich and drains the battery when sitting but other than that, its tough. Remember, stock tires are only rated to 63mph! I break that limit often but also only run good tread.
Thanks for sharing your story! Saw your pictures on Wayne's Instagram the other day and that's awesome to see all of the traveling you're doing with it and definitely putting her through the paces. Most people don't think about the speeds some of these tiny tires are rated at when doing engine mods like this so it's nice to see someone is lol!

Is there a website, write up, or video detailing the engine build? I’m really curious how 30hp is possible from a 125. It may be completely out of my price range for a build but I’d love to see what all is done.
It isn’t, plain and simple
He said it was a 180cc engine, not the original.
It's built by Wayne, but the magic parts come from GromFatherz, with a Koso 4v head that's ported by GromFatherz. Find his channel. Lots of dyno sessions on what works and what doesn't.

So, how much did you spend on the build, and what's the (gps-based) top speed? :)
This bike has been built several times over. Contact Wayne at the Speedshop for your own build quote. I've gone 92mph, stock gearing, and weigh 225lbs without gear, but top speed is not the point of the build. I ride the tri-state GA/TN/NC mountains. Having HP to go up hills and powering out of an apex is where the fun is.
The only thing worse than putting $10K into a 125cc Monkey is putting $10k into a 50cc Ruckus.

I had H-D XR 1200 with Vance & Hines 2 to 2 racing exhaust. What a rumble! Now I have 2022 Monkey and love this machine.

Plenty of dyno videos online from GromFatherz. This one makes 32rwhp.
Did anyone else notice his spark plug is loose? It moves when he revs up the engine.
What's the estimated top speed?
I like the Euro-style taillight and signals, sure, but I actually prefer what we get here in the States. And thanks, Kevin, for this look at this Elsie, er, Monkey. And in my dreams I'm thinking maybe I want my new Dax to be painted like that, with the high front fender, too. And as a former Dax and Elsinore owner, I'd be re-living a couple of dreams with a Dax in that color with that insignia. And it'd be beautiful.
Yessir, different strokes for different folks when it comes to the lighting setup on Euro spec versus US as you're not alone there either. I've seen quite a few guys that prefer what we get here in the states which makes it nice that different countries have different setups so we have options that are still OEM at the end of the day.
I like your thinking on a Dax with paint like this and a high front fender etc, that'd be cool! American Honda needs to hurry up and get to cracking on bringing the Dax over here so you can get started on reliving those dreams ;)

When I was a kid I had a z50 special edition in all chrome and a red seat. I wanna see a monkey done like that.
You had the 1986 christmas special, and they are considered one of the "holy grail" mini bikes to have. They go for big bucks today.

I prefere my 125cc z50 from the 70s I dont consider these monkey bikes too big and in my honest opinion dont even look good
I've got a 2022 monkey and it sucks that the biggest BBK we can get is only 149cc.

People were paying 500 to a 1000 extra for the yellow Monkeys bc they were so hard to get. He went with the 80’s z50 paint.

Sorry to hear about your friend, but you probably wouldn't want to ride a monkey from florida to boston. It would take forever, and you can't take it on the highway unless you want to get killed. Way too slow for that. You'd get run over, and we don't want that.

I got almost the same build motor wise on my Grom. Except it’s all gromfatherz. Tops speed about 90mph.

Instead of doing that build just go buy a 190cc replica motor that way you can still keep the stock honda motor to swap back
Chinese made carbureted 190cc is not a simple swap into new Hondas. It also makes no where near the HP as this engine. I have Daytona 212cc in my 1972 CT70. It still doesn't come close to a GromFatherz engine. Oh, and this bike will never be 'swapped back' to stock.

If you're twisting the Throttle, 65-68mpg. If you're just riding with a couple spirited twists .. 85mpg.
