This pudding cake has been a family favorite for at least 45 years and been making it probably this long. It's so simple to make and reminds you of those little molten chocolate cakes, only twice as big. Thanks Jill, this recipe brought back happy memories.

My recipe is a tad different, and actually a little easier. The cake batter mixes right in the baking pan, and you don't have to mix the sugar and cocoa for the sauce (it doesn't call for any white sugar in the sauce, only brown) but just sprinkle it right on top. And we usually put nuts in it--I grew up in pecan country, so that's what I use.
This was a simple recipe to whip up when relatives turned up. In my family you just walk in and say hello, or, in some cases, "Is the bar open?" Seconds to make, then you could go visit while it's in the oven.
I made it a couple years back for our church choir's ice cream social. Made two pans, one with and one without nuts. No leftovers.

I learned how to make this in one of my college culinary arts class. I've actually divided the recipe down to two servings and baked it in a small iron skillet. Once it cooled slightly I topped it with 2 scoops, covered the ice cream in the sauce from th dessert and served. I've never eaten this as I am allergic to chocolate. But I'm thinking to try the recipe with carob powder. Cool video.

HI Chef! Awwwww....I'm so sorry about your chocolate allergy! But carob is delicious! If you make it that way, please let me know how it came out! I"m so happy you know this fabulous dish that stood the test of time! 2 scoops of ice cream, most definitely! 🍸💖

Hot fudge pudding cake? Yummy. Mix, wisk or sift, it sure helps bring it together. Because my inclination is to stir.
My aunt accidentally made a vanilla cake exactly like this, because it was called a "Dump Cake", and the kitchen is not her forte. My son always has to get this while it's hot, and my aunt keeps making it because it is one of the only things she makes that anyone is brave enough to eat. There is the horror story of the Corned Beef, cooked for three days, and thrown out because it was still pink. And the stuffing from a box, which failed.
It goes great with coffee, and, even Irish Coffee. Although, I think for adults a little Irish in the cake could be really good. Thank you for this! I love it.

Hi Bianca! It is delicious!!! And thank you!! I have such a big smile right now! You're right, I lean more toward seafood where I have several. You will see a fish salad coming on 7/23 (I film way in advance). In the meantime, I will make a note of it and add it to my ever growing list!! I do have a bunch of fish dishes to share! :) 🍸💖

Do you know how to make real maple glaze as they have at a bakery? All recipes thus far turn out too light colored and not as great, even when doubling the maple extract and real maple syrup to the recipe. They just tell you they get it bulk from wholesalers :( Someone, please help... Thanks SO MUCH!

Hot Fudge Sundae Cake!! I swear I'm not stalking you, I just can't stop watching your vids. This was one of the desserts my sister would make from my mom's Twins Club (I had twin sisters) cookbook, the other was apple crisp. I thought this was so magical the way you ended up with cake on top and hot fudge on the bottom.
