    I knew I was forgetting something. I forgot to mention why I prefer the manual Socom Elite to the automatic version. For a quick explanation, click this link:

      Wouldn’t the auto be better in a situation.? Because of the “faster” opening?.?

      Big Bore Knife & Gear actually. The auto doesn’t look that much faster..
      so why do you prefer to carry the manual?.

    Nice overview! From viewing this video, I’ve learned that the auto version has textured inserts on both sides of the handle and the manual version does not. Both versions are superb, but I think I’d prefer the auto. Cheers, man! ⚔️😎👍

      Glad the video helped. There is plenty of grip on both of them for sure. Although I like the Manual better, the Auto is amazing. You can’t go wrong with this knife.

    Good video. This is definitely a good hard use knife. I have the tanto manual version and have used it for many outdoor tasks. I like that Microtech did not use proprietary screws as they do on their OTF’s.

    I’ve been torn on the auto vs manual for months.
    I’ve felt an auto, but not enough to be sure and I haven’t felt a manual.

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The auto kicks hard. The manual opens with a thwack and is so smooth closing. I just like the smoothness of the manual a little more but they are both great. As you can see from the video, the positioning of the auto actuator buttons also annoyed me a little bit.

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They both are great though. I understand how hard the choice is. One thought is you could buy both and resell the one you like less. You would probably only lose about $25 or so and you would get the one you want.

  • @jeffspicoli6088

    I just bought a used auto that is in beautiful condition externally. However, it demonstrates side to side blade rock/play both when open and closed. I've searched and I can't find any mention as to whether is is normal for the SOCOM Auto. It probably moves ~1mm or so back and forth. Can you please tell me if yours does the same of if it is solid side to side? Thanks in advance!

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both the manual and auto have rock solid lockup. I would call Microtech and see if you can send it in for a warranty repair.

    • @jeffspicoli6088
      @jeffspicoli6088 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TripleEEDC Thank you! I IMd a rep on Facebook, and he also confirmed it should be rock solid and to send it in for service, so it's taking a trip to Microtech. Assuming they fix it, this may/will be my favorite knife.

    I thought the Socom manual was running on nylon washers? Here you say it's on bearings.

      It’s definitely bearings. I’ve disassembled mine and seen other people disassemble theirs.

    • @Mainrollman
      @Mainrollman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're are correct Sir, just watched a video and it's running on bearings. I believe MicroTech makes 98% of their parts in house, including all pivot parts and fasteners. Their headquarters shop, located in Asheville NC, is only a 45 min drive from my house. They have a really nice showroom and almost every model is available, including the entire Socom Elite line.
