    Just to clarify, you dont need to remove the battery to get to the passenger side udder, its easily accessible 👍👍

    In case you don't have one. Get yourself a telescopic magnet for those times when a bolt or screw jumps out of your hand and lands in one of those hard to reach places a hand can't fit. One of the best tools in my toolbox. Saved me many times.

    Get an Odyssey AGM battery. No leaking acid on your wire harnesses. It also provides the power the Corvette requires.

    Thank you so much for alerting me to these udders! The three on the drivers side just had a few dry leaves I could 'crunch' out by squeezing without removing the udders. HOWEVER, the passenger side was full of sediment! I had to scrape the lower 1/4 of the tube clean, was packed! In the process I think I found a rat nest at the termination of the tube under the battery! I'll have to investigate that more when I have further time to remove the battery/etc. Thanks!!

    So for the udders on the PS, I stood next to the fender, my body pointing towards the front of the car. Reached in between the firewall and battery box with my left hand, grabbed the udder and pulled it out. Tight area, but doable. No need to remove the battery box after all. Without this video, I would have never known they were there. Thanks.

    Great info. I cleaned mine for the 1st time today (6/24). My 2003 C5 is a total garage queen so 2 out of 3 udders on the driver's side were clean. The 3rd udder had a few leaves in it. It is the same size as the other 2. It was a little tricky to get it re-installed. I haven't done the passenger side yet. 8-(

    Now this is one topic that I think you're the first to address. As the saying goes, it's all in the details. What I'd like to know is how, or what made you think of it? What I've now learned is to never leave home with dirty "udders," or dirty socks. LOL I also never knew Arizona had a Monsoon Season. Maybe for the next video you should consider: "Do C5's Float?" :-)

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a common issue addressed on Corvette Forum. It seems to come up every year when the rains come. My car originated in Virginia so I wanted to check them. Not that I will have an issue in AZ, but you never know. We defiantly do have monsoons. A few years ago we got about 6” or rain in a few hours and it flooded the freeways. Basically shit down the entire Phoenix Metro Area. It doesn’t last long, but it can be dangerous.

    Great video. When buying a pre-owned C5 these are SOME of the first things that must be done before anything else. Also, the ECM lives under the battery tray, buy a sealed battery (Optima's are great)if anything leaks from your non sealed battery and finds its way to the ECM ... wheeew , good luck with that.

    Good video. Pulled the two on drivers side that are easy to access. One was packed, while the other was fairly clear. As for the passenger side, I was able to check it without removing the battery. You'll find you can locate it and work your way down it and scrunch it up to check for built up debris. I would definitely prefer to pull the battery as you suggest ,but without an extension for the socket set to help in removing the remaining bolt, pulling the battery is a PIA haha. Good video.

    There's actually three udders on the Driver's side. You can't see the third one, but it is reachable if you want to confirm that a third one exists. You do have to be a bit of contortionist to get to from the engine bay, but you can also remove the inner fender well to expose it. Save the Wave🙋‍♂

      I had my cowl off to fix it & heard you can get to that 3rd utter on the driver's side. I did not see a way to get to it from the cowl 🤔So after I removed the two front utters, I could feel the bottom of that 3rd one. I found a solution to clean that 3rd one without removing the cowl or utter. I used a sandwich baggie, with one hand place the baggie around the end of that 3rd utter & milk it👍🐄 Just milk it till everything is out. Mine had a lot of debris in it.

    Dumb question... looking at the drain side of the 'udder' why not just grasp the bottom to open the drain 'mouth' and take a garden hose and "flush" it out through the grate? Same with the passenger side... looks like it is long enough that you can reach the drain end from under the car without taking out the battery. Inquiring minds want to know! You might also consider applying a fiberglass window screen on top of the plastic grate and prevent the issue in the first place. What do you think?

    THE CORVETTE
    What says America more than the taste of apple pie,
    It’s an American road machine driving the highways.
    What started out as one man’s dream in the fifties,
    Has become for many an everlasting American icon.
    A true roaster for the many passing generations,
    And the forever dreams of many a youthful lad.
    A machine long bred for both racing and cruising,
    And with many a trophy for road rally or dragging.
    As many of us still remember the days of Route 66,
    Where the star of the show had a motor and wheels.
    A car concept tested at Le Man’s and Watkins Glen,
    And in racing venues like Sebring got a real gut check.
    So they are a pedigree born of stallions gone before,
    Such a vivid history that all car men dream of forever.
    So the name Corvette will always stand alone among,
    All the others that have passed and gone to history.
    So when you enter the flowing cockpit and turn the key,
    As the first soft growl of the engine ends in a lions roar,
    Whether a hardtop coup or T Tops or air free convertible,
    It’s always the feel for the open road that rules the day.
    The exhilarating ride tells you have transcended the earth,
    And you’ve entered into the magical world of the Corvette.
    T. Michael Daly (Pop. Irish)
    Thanks great video!

When I run my AC I'm getting water inside the passenger side. I believe it is coming from that metal cylinder thing (Drier/Accumulator). The condensation water is leaking through my blower motor. I’m really late here but this might help someone else I have a 09 Zo6 and whenever I ran the air conditioner the floor would be wet on the passenger side floor which is really bad because under the floor is where the ECM is which is very expensive to replace the problem was that the condensation drain was pushed up against a wire harness preventing it from draining simple fix just pull the harness out of the way that drain is why you see water under your vehicle when you park it after running the air conditioner

  • @tonywestbrook6436
    @tonywestbrook6436 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man, was wondering if the udders have a slit, could they be cleaned from underneath without removing them? And, I'm going to have to replace or re - glue the weather stripping that runs along the drainage grate. So I'm going to have to pull the grate anyway. That way everything's going to come out in one piece and I can kill 2 birds with one stone. What's your thoughts?

      It depends on how clogged they are. It’s easy to take them out.

    It’s not possible to leave them out and auto drain constantly?

    • @halofreak1990

      You could, but that would allow rodents and such to get in there and clog things up even worse

    Looking at the awful state of your windscreen wipers, it's probably best if you do not drive in even a light rain.

    Why can't you use water to flush them out from the top? Maybe use air from the top?

    • @mycorvettelife
      @mycorvettelife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that were possible, they would never get clogged.

      Higher pressure / volume of water or air possibly force the debris out? Watch and see if you have any flow.
