@Scuba Tom. I guess on an island, there are limitations for long term living, I could see how it may become boring, even with the great views around you. Did you dive here?
RoninBlue I did dive. The visibility wasn’t very good at that time. I will be back in January. I do love Samui for a couple of weeks at a time. I would love Samui more if Bangkok Airlines didn’t own the airport. Lol I love to travel so Bangkok is good for me due to flying in, and out of the country a lot.
Good video, well done and representative. With my Thai wife we purchase a property in Samui for holiday and retirement. Life is very good and not too expensive if you are careful. Many things to do near and around Samui. Ang Thong Marine national park is fantastic. Services are excellent in Samui. I am very anxious to officially retire and go spend 5 months per year over there. Agree with you, flights to Samui from Bangkok are expensive. Next time I will try to fly to Surat Thani and take the ferry.

Hi Ronin. In one of your Vietnam videos a few months back you commented that you had narrowed your own retirement choices down to Malaysia, Philippines or Portugal. Have you narrowed down or changed your choices since then?
@Avarua59. Yes, Malaysia, Philippines and Portugal are on the list but my girlfriend wants to check out Thailand as well. We are also going to East Malaysia, on the same trip to Thailand, to go and check it out. Also, we won't yet be able to retire to Malaysia for their above 50 requirements, till we are 50, so it gives us plenty of time to visit other countries to see other options in the meantime. There is the under 50 for the Malaysia retirement program as well but with much higher requirements, so we thought it makes sense to just visit as many countries till we hit 50 to apply for their lower requirements instead. While we visit the other countries, we'll be able to create content as well geared towards possible retirement there, cost of living etc....that's our roadmap as of now.
I'm thinking about buying a home there kite surf all day that would be nice but I would have to keep busy so I dont drink or do drugs. Also have you ever been there you don't sound like it.
Tell me what you think of Koh Samui. Would it be your retirement destination?
It was mine but with the fake pandemic and possible need for a poisonous vaccine to go there it looks like I'll be out sadly
I will fly my first time to koh samui with the intention to live for long period there.

Actual pronunciation from a Thai person is GO Samui.
