I've not long come back from Samui. Spent a good few days at Silver beach resort. It was very reasonably priced to get all that beach, nice cold pool and brilliant staff. Plan to go back early next year
We stayed at Chaweng Beach in February this year. At Chaweng Garden Resort. Absolutely loved it, loved the beach and the resort. Not upmarket or expensive, but right in the centre of everything. Easy to get to Lamai and Fishermen’s Village. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else, absolutely beautiful beach. We stayed at Lamai a few years ago, the beach isn’t anywhere near as beautiful. Hopefully we’ll be back in Chaweng next year.
I have to say I like this video and you guys. Many videos like this is just boring with someone rambling facts. You guys are chill and have a nice sense of natural humor :)
nice video, thanks. I tend to agree with you, I stayed in Lamai this past February, 2023. It was quiter than Chaweng, which is what I wanted. Visited lots of places, and Fisherman's Village was great - would stay there next time. I did also stay at that white resorty place at the end of Crystal Bay (silver Beach) as welll. It was great and not so expensive. About $120AUD/ night I think.
We loved all the easy food options in Fisherman Village. The beach was nice and plenty of window shopping. Great choice if we ever return! Thank you for watching!! 🍻
I loved this, so helpful! Question for you please... I’m trying to book near Fisherman’s Village and it seems the hotels are not ON the beach. Am I missing something?
Brian…you’re not alone! My husband has never turned down a beer either……beach or no beach. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣. What a great video! Loved tha you compared the different beaches. We only have about 10 weeks to go to start our world travels and I’m so excited. I’m so grateful for TH-camrs like y’all that put a lot of our worries and fears to rest. I hope someday we can meet up and have a drink together. Safe travels!
That is so exciting Lorrie! We would love to meet up someday for a beer!! A small world so it very well could happen! Thank you for watching our channel and supporting us!! Cheers!!🍻
You guys should of gone to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, overall they have better beaches and Koh Phangan is very unique for its Yoga, alternative lifestyles and great varied restaurants 😊. You need to rent a motorbike though for total freedom to explore!
First of all you guys are adorable together, we where in Thailand last April for 28 days koh lipe, Krabi, Phuket. Koh lipe was incredible. Anyway we are planning to visit Koh samui February 2025 can’t wait to return to explore this area in your amazing and informative video ❤ Thank you Scott & Andy
i like your last few videos a lot- mostly I think becase it seems like you guys are starting to have a little more fun and be more relaxed in the videos you put out. Thanks for all the great information!
Thank you Michelle!! We would agree that since being in SE Asia we've gotten in a better groove, plus charging out some camera gear made things easier. We appreciate you noticing and commenting 😊
Thank you for visiting the various beaches and offering your pros and cons for each one. I'm planning to visit Koh Samui someday and was unsure about what area would be the best place to stay. Your assessments help greatly. Thanks again! Cheers!
I’m with you on chewang beach, stayed there a few years ago did not like it thought it was dirty compared to other beaches on the island. Our first choice is always Lamai stayed several times over the years. Next time take a look at the far southern end of the beach there is a little boutique hotel called Beluga it does a great breakfast and is a fantastic location, also there is a bar on the rocks too. Keep the vids coming 👍
Thank you for the recommendation, it sounds like our kind of place. Overall, we really enjoyed Koh Samui and would return and consider someplace different from Fisherman Village, just not Chewang Beach!! Thank you for watching and commenting!! Cheers!!🍻
Another great video with quality content. Excellent information. I have to admit that this is what I expected when you spoke about going to Thailand, the white sand beaches and the clear blue water. Interesting the lack of crowds. The heat sounds intense too for March. All good to know. Surprising to see in these beach videos no swimming happening. With that heat I would admit that videos would have me soaked with wet hair. Stay safe. Enjoy your time. Jaws isn't coming to get you Carrie!
Hi, Robert. Koh Samui is still recovering from covid which is good for those of us that are traveling now but the locals are looking forward for tourism to return back to the way it was! You'll be happy to know that we did go snorkeling today!!! 😀 As always, thanks for watching!! Cheers!!🍻
We were there in December and the island was very busy . All the flights for December were fully booked , tbh it was too busy . Chaweng was mobbed . So I’m suprise it is so quiet again as other arts of Thailand are busy but it will depend on when you travel .
I know this is a year old I’m just catching up with you guys lol of all the TH-camrs I’ve come across U2 are the two I want to hang with my husband and I thoroughly enjoy watching you guys Thanks so much for making it so enjoyable.
Thank you for creating these fun, informative, and humorous videos. Brian cracks us up! Your videos are helping us decide where to plan our next year of travel.
Well we have been on Koh Samui and are staying in fisherman’s village which was influenced by your video. We toured around the island yesterday on a Motorbike we’ve hired and after seeing most other places I think that this is the best place to stay on the island. Lamai would be my other choice.
We would agree! We really liked Fisherman's Village, but Lamai is a great choice as well. We had motorbike skills! 😀 It would have made our experience even better.
@BrianandCarrie There are plenty cool places to stay though with nice beaches like Maenam Beach for example, but for dinner options, night markets and any other excitement for us Fisherman's village ticks the boxes. There's no noisy clubs though ans is quiet at night. We are staying at Eden Bungaloes which is on the main street too. Thanks again.
Nice vid.. i was in Koh Samui in 2010, loved it... brought back some old memories of my time there. I'm heading to Koh Phagnan next year for my 50th birthday, any plans to visit the other islands?
We are in Phuket now for just a week before heading to Penang, Malaysia but we do plan on returning to SE Asia next year. We may add Koh Phangan to our plans.
Love all your videos. One question about your accommodations in Koh Samui - It sounded like you liked where you stayed but in the posted link you indicate you would only recommend if you have transportation. I was thinking the 15-20min walk to Fishermans village or the cost of the red truck to get there was reasonable. Can you elaborate on the need for your own transportation? Thanks!
The 15-20-minute walk is not really a problem for us to explore for the day, although the road has no sidewalks and is busy. If you have mobility issues it would be a problem. We also had to rely on the 7-11 for our groceries and caring bags home wasn't the easiest. Getting a ride every time would have added up over the month. There are nice grocery stores on the island so having transportation would have been nice. Other than that, we did like the place.
Have stayed in a beach front room above the restaurant you had the beer at on Lamai Beach several times. Was great going to sleep listening to the waves.
I look forward to your videos. We are heading there next January. Hope your going to the Bali area next. That’s on our bucket list. Looking forward to seeing your take on that. Keep your great content coming. Safe travels
Hi, Nancy. We are heading to Malaysia next. We are planning on returning to SE Asia next year to explore the the Philippines, Bali, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Japan. That's the plan for now anyway. Thank you for watching and commenting. Cheers 🍻
First time watching your video. You answered almost all my questions about Koh Samui. We’re planning to visit Koh samui in Jan 2024 with another family. We’re not into bars nor drinking. We enjoy the water, walking and hiking activities or family friendly activities. Would you highly recommend Fisherman village for us? We also plan to hire a driver since there will be 6 of us. Do you think it’s necessary to do so or the public transportation is sufficient and easy to get around? Btw, I share Carrie’s sentiment about Jaws. 40 years later, it still messes my mind!
We would absolutely suggest staying in Fisherman Village and renting a car. Public transportation is fine for us but much less hassle with a family. The cost can add up with 6 of you as well. Carrie did manage to go snorkeling yesterday!! No scary sharks!! 🤣 Thank you for watching and safe travels!
We are in Phuket and the apartment required a deposit of 10,000 THB we pay when we leave for electricity at 7 THB per unit and water at 20 per unit. Have you any idea what a daily rate will cost?
For various reasons we no longer give the place that we stay. Prices go up, hosts change, something go's wrong, If the experience isn't what you expect it reflects back on us.
I really like your videos. I’ll be back in Thailand in a few weeks and planning on staying long term in Koh samui. Thanks for sharing your experience as it will definitely help me make a decision on which location I pick.
Thank you for this great video! It looks so beautiful and I took notes. We've been to Thailand twice, but not to the beaches yet. I hope to remedy that!!!
Hi Lorrie! We really loved seeing both sides of Thailand, city and beaches. Both really appeal to us and we are looking forward to making it back to explore more. Thanks so much for watching 😊
We did not. We tried to go to the places that we felt people would be most interested in. For us using public transportation it isn't always easy to get to every place that we would like to go. Hopefully, someday we can afford to rent a car. Thank you for watching!! Cheers!🍻
Lamai food is more reasonably priced than fishermans. Beach at lamai often has more trash which is a negative. Also has some pretty strong waves sometimes making it difficult to swim. Sand on most of lamai is more hard packed which makes easier for those of us who like to walk the beach. Only a small part of fishermans beach is good for walking in my opinion. Some is too soft and gravel. I would pick lamai over fishermans for cost of food and walkability of beach
We were in Koh Samui a few years ago. Beautiful! Question on Cigna Global Ins. Did you go with a broker or direct with Cigna Global? Take care. Safe travel.
Thanks so much for this video. I'm planning a month-long stay and was leaning toward the Relay condos (for the price), but wondered about the area and if I would like it. Your information has confirmed my choice. Again, thanks so much. Enjoy your stay
Tips for you to visit not far from where you are secret garden resort for lunch or dinner Authentic Thai food restaurant is called the mud lipa noi Lunch at the jungle club sensational view You need a nite out green mango club The coldest beer on samui at the islander my mates pub chewang Any thing else Another near you for good coffee kob cafe
We have stayed twice in Chaweng beach area at Amari Reef ( top hotel ) in 2014, 2019, since then we have travelled to Vietnam & Cambodia, I can honestly say we won’t return to Koh Samui, one is the prices have increased everywhere, drink prices are crazy, we are planning another trip to finish off our tour of Vietnam, safe travels from UK 🇬🇧
You really need to learn how to drive a scooter and rent one on the Thai islands, I think you will have a blast with it and it would avoid the hassle of the non-negotiating red trucks. It's not hard and it's a lot of fun to explore all around the island and then just store it at your hotel
Hi Tim! I'm sure renting a scooter would give us way better access to the island. It's just not something we are interested in doing right now, maybe someday 😊. Thanks for watching!! Cheers 🍻
You two really make great videos. You always keep it engaging and interesting. We went to Koh Samui last summer and weren't crazy about it but I am rethinking it now that I've seen this video.
Thank you, Dan. There are definitely parts that we didn't care for but overall we know that if we had the money we could find some amazing accommodations. Thank you for watching and commenting!! Cheers!!🍻
Hi Kari! Thank you first off. I use C serum morning and night plus a A Serum every few days at night , CeraVe night cream, CeraVe SPF day cream. I think those combined with good genes, drinking a lot of water and always washing my face at night (no soap, just wash cloth) helps 😊😊
@@BrianandCarrie thanks for replying-I'm going to buy some serums today! No soap is surprising, you might be on to something. Koh Samui is on our list to visit after this video, reminds me of Caribbean islands. You both look so relaxed, your videos are inspiring us to try nomadic life, hopefully in 2024.
You can exchange at the airport, but we would recommend getting local currency from an ATM. Your bank will give you the best exchange rate. We use sim cards at each location that we travel to. Their cheap and work great in most locations.
You will have a fantastic time!! That resort looks like a lot of fun, and a great choice of location. Thank you for watching and safe travels! Cheers!!🍻
Thanks for the video. I'm currently in Hua Hin, with Koh Samui next on the list. I'm going through the great debate on where to stay. I do believe it will be Fisherman's Village :)
Bryan, I am about booking in koh samui. Can you tell what is the name of those bungalows that you ranked as second best in silver beach. You guys are showing the property but didn’t mention the name. I would love to check out. Bon voyage!
@@BrianandCarrie hi guys! Thank you for your response. Ok I will google it. Shouldn’t be difficult if it’s only one property on silver beach. Enjoy Salzburg!
If we were only to be in Koh Samui for a couple of days, we would probably go to Chaweng. It is the biggest with the best nightlife. We didn't look for any hostels bit sure that you can find one there. Thank you for watching and safe travels! Cheers!!❤
The biggest problem with Koh Samui is beach access. You almost always have to go through a resort or restaurant. Most small places will let you through but they expect your business. Don't expect to use their "facilities" for free if you don't. The local Thais are very angry that they have almost no way to their beaches. That's why Pattaya, Bang Saen, Hua Hin etc get their thumbs up. Poorer beaches but they can use them. I did love the Fisherman's Village area for shopping and food. Great job there.
@@neilcameron3021 Absolutely. We went there at least three times for meals at the restaurant. Good food. the beach is beautiful but small. They will allow you to go through (as I mentioned above) but you aren't allowed to use their washrooms. Parking is very tight and won't allow many cars there. You may not find a table at the restaurant due to the high usage. I still loved this area more than others and we returned at least three times in the 7 days we stayed in Koh Samui.
Don’t agree. I live on Samui and go to the beaches regularly. At the very least it is no worse than anywhere else, but I actually find very few restrictions that bother me. I live in Lamai and i can think of many access points to our beautiful beach without any problems.

Another great video!! We're thinking of visiting there in 24' and now we have a much better idea of where we will stay when there. Tell Brian good luck with the sand and tennis shoes 😮. I also had issues in flip flops but eventually overcame it 😊.
Thank you Eddie! It's such a beautiful island, really hard to go wrong but certain places seemed to check more boxes than others. I told Brian he needed to learn to grip with his toes a bit and he'd be good in flip flops. He doesn't think he needs to work that hard to just walk... Can't really blame him. Thankfully he's had some great suggestions on here to check out. Cheers 🍻
Thank you for this highly informative video! I am planning a trip to Koh Samui and this helped me decide where to stay. Like you, I am not keen on renting a motorbike…😬😬
Those beautiful sandy beaches 😍😍😍 Absolutely GORG! the 90 degrees though.... that'd kick my ass! I'd be in a pool all the time! Great video all around! Love you both! 😘😘
Yes, the 90 degrees with high humidity starts to get to us that's for sure. Thankful for a pool and AC. The white sandy beaches and the vibrant blue water is so beautiful 😍. See you in a month. ❤️❤️
We visited Thailand in April and Hooley Dooley it was hot! Going again next year in November, hopefully will be a tad cooler. 🤞 Another great video guys, thank you 😊
Using public transportation like we do can sometimes make it difficult and expensive to move around as often as we would like to. Hopefully you can find someone that will cover what you are looking for. Thank you for watching. Cheers 🍻
I really want to go, but I don’t think I could stand the heat 😢. Also afraid of sharks 🦈. I know how you feel. Jaws messed many of us up for life because we were too young to watch it.
best place in Samui is the ferry terminal as you leave to go anywhere else compared to 2000 its a horror story compared to 1980 its your worst nightmare large scale tourism has totally ruined it
We tried to get to all the main beaches. We do realize with a car we would have seen some of the further out ones that may appeal to those with transportation. Thanks for watching!! Cheers 🍻
@@BrianandCarrie thanks, I’m going there in November and I’m trying to figure out the best place to stay. Do not want the busy area but don’t want the quiet desolate beach, something in between. Any recommendation?
We stay at Silver Beach each time we visit Samui and stay at Crystalbay Resort not the Yatch club as the resort has the better end of the beach.
I agree, it’s my favourite place to stay in Koh Samui
I've not long come back from Samui. Spent a good few days at Silver beach resort. It was very reasonably priced to get all that beach, nice cold pool and brilliant staff.

All videos Awesome
Thank you!! 😀
Thanks so much for this video. I'm planning a month-long stay and was leaning toward the Relay condos (for the price), but wondered about the area and if I would like it. Your information has confirmed my choice. Again, thanks so much. Enjoy your stay
We do think that it is a good location and good for a month-long stay!! Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!!🍻
What resources do you use for places to stay ? I would like to do 3-6 mos.
We always use Airbnb for our 1-2 month stays. You may find a much better deal going more local for that long of a stretch.
Thank you ! appreciate the breakdowns on everything Happy Travels !

Love your little bag where did you get it?
Hi! I got it on Amazon, it's been such a great bag. Here is the link to it. amzn.to/3Qc9M0U
@@BrianandCarrie thank you 😊
We have stayed twice in Chaweng beach area at Amari Reef ( top hotel ) in 2014, 2019, since then we have travelled to Vietnam & Cambodia, I can honestly say we won’t return to Koh Samui, one is the prices have increased everywhere, drink prices are crazy, we are planning another trip to finish off our tour of Vietnam, safe travels from UK 🇬🇧
Vietnam is so much less expensive than Thailand. We look forward to heading back!
Great vlog, guys, but you never mentioned Mae Nam village.
Made me laugh, Just subbed. Thats a funny man
Thank you for the sub!! We very much appreciate the support!! 😃
Cheers!!🍻
Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie How long are you two going to be in Thailand for? My wife and I are coming in May for the whole summer.
Serious question for Carrie…how do you not have any wrinkles? Your skin is amazing- what products do you use?
Soap
You both look so relaxed, your videos are inspiring us to try nomadic life, hopefully in 2024.
guys this is awesome, Ill be there in Novemeber!
Thanks! You'll love it 😊
@@BrianandCarrie question is there currency exchanges on the island to exchange USD to their currency? How did you get cellphone signal out there?
You can exchange at the airport, but we would recommend getting local currency from an ATM. Your bank will give you the best exchange rate. We use sim cards at each location that we travel to. Their cheap and work great in most locations.
@@BrianandCarrie awesome thanks guys!
I'll be staying at Silver Beach Resort, and it's not that expensive, unless you opt for a Sea front room.
Last time I stayed in Koh Samui was in 1976. It was a bit more laid back, back then, LOL
Oh my - I bet!! Would have loved to see it back then! Cheers 🍻
Bryan, I am about booking in koh samui.
Can you tell what is the name of those bungalows that you ranked as second best in silver beach. You guys are showing the property but didn’t mention the name. I would love to check out. Bon voyage!
The link is in the video description.
@@BrianandCarrieI can’t find anything specific for that silver beach boutique hotel that Brian liked so much @13:18 min. but I guess it’s ok.
Anna, there is only the one that is on the beach. I can't remember the name but I'm sure that if you Google it you will see the one I'm talking about.
@@BrianandCarrie hi guys! Thank you for your response. Ok I will google it. Shouldn’t be difficult if it’s only one property on silver beach. Enjoy Salzburg!
Thank you, Anna!! ❤
If you want easy access to chewang beach walk through ark bar
Thank you for the tip and for watching!
Cheers 🍻
Which location is good to stay for 2day in koh samui - cheap in cost ? Also is there any hostels ?
If we were only to be in Koh Samui for a couple of days, we would probably go to Chaweng. It is the biggest with the best nightlife. We didn't look for any hostels bit sure that you can find one there. Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!!❤
Planning to visit this August, how hot would the weather be? And is August a good time to visit? It would be nice to know a few things beforehand 😅😊
We have not been there in August but think that that is the rainy season.
Thank you for watching and adding the comments! We very much appreciate the support.
Cheers!!🍻
Crystal Bay resort just north of lamai great beach and no restrictions to buy anything.

Can we visit on july.what about whether on July..???
We weren't there during that time, so unfortunately we can't offer any advice on that. Cheers!!
Is September a good time to visit koh samui ?
We were there in the springtime last year. We have never been there in the fall.
They are called beach shoes! No problem walking on rocks and sand! Very comfortable!
Thank you for the recommendation and for watching!!!
Cheers!!🍻
Cheers 🍻
Can you recommend a nice resort at Chewang beach?
We didn't stay in that area so unfortunately we didn't see any of the resort names.
Best couple ever!
Thank you so much!!❤
Thank you for this highly informative video! I am planning a trip to Koh Samui and this helped me decide where to stay. Like you, I am not keen on renting a motorbike…😬😬
If you have never been on a motorbike SE Asia isn't the place to start!! 😆 Thank you for watching and safe travels!
Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie I know...I was just in Vietnam in March and felt very strongly that my decision NOT to ride a motorbike was the correct one 🤣🤣🤣
what month did you guys visit?
Mid-March to mid-April.
Brian nice job of matching the hat to your backpack!! Or did Carrie do that? 😂
She did not!! I actually dressed myself that day!!!😆😆
I like Lamai Beach better than Fisherman's village. Don't forget about Lamai Muay Thai.
We visited Thailand in April and Hooley Dooley it was hot! Going again next year in November, hopefully will be a tad cooler. 🤞 Another great video guys, thank you 😊
Thank you, Annette! Safe travels!!!
Samui doesnt vary much temperature wise.Bit cooler than Bangkok etc though usually 28 to 33c
Love your videos! May be get your self some aqua shoes, light weight and take up very little space.
Thank you, Deb! 🙂👍
The hat is great!
Thank you!!😀
Please plan to include Japan and South Korea in your east Asia tour.
We are planning on going to South Korea and Japan this time next year when we return to see more of SE Asia. Thank you for watching!!
Cheers!!🍻
little trucks you called them, best to actually know the name, Songthaew (Pronounced, “song-tao)
Thank you for watching and commenting!
Cheers!!🍻
Why (almost) nobody reviews the other side of Koh Samui??
Using public transportation like we do can sometimes make it difficult and expensive to move around as often as we would like to. Hopefully you can find someone that will cover what you are looking for. Thank you for watching.
Cheers 🍻
I really want to go, but I don’t think I could stand the heat 😢. Also afraid of sharks 🦈. I know how you feel. Jaws messed many of us up for life because we were too young to watch it.
Spent six months there in the 1980s.
I like the hat! 👍🏻😎
Thank you!! 😆
Hard to beat Fisherman's Village. Love the beach, restaurants and the atmosphere ❤
Negative..fisherman’s village
We would agree! We would have really enjoyed staying at one of the resorts right in the middle.
@@bluesky5587 Sorry, my bad, correction made 🤦♂🤗
@@BrianandCarrie The Smile House fits that bill.
best place in Samui is the ferry terminal as you leave to go anywhere else compared to 2000 its a horror story compared to 1980 its your worst nightmare large scale tourism has totally ruined it
I don't think anyplace compares to 1980 anymore.
great video but you missed so many beaches :(
We tried to get to all the main beaches.
We did our best to explane that in the video...
Ha ha I love that you walked in that heat . Something that I would definitely do too 🥵
We won't spend money for no good reason! 😆 Thank you for watching and continued support!!
Cheers!!🍻
@@BrianandCarrie Taxi no in 90F with humidity, but beer yes!! Got it!
2 baht for that sunhat? You got ripped off! 😂
Supply and demand my friend! $6.00 to ward off skin cancer seems like a pretty good deal. Have you seen my forehead!?! 😂
Are there many russians on the island?
Yes, at the time we were there anyway.
There are some, yes.
I thought it was Lamai not Lanai
Yes, its Lamai.
I cannot believe you won't get into the beach on a beach holiday because of a movie you watched as a kid....!
We aren't on holiday, and it was a joke but thank you for the comment.
Cheers 🍻
Carrie needs a matching hat.
I think that she does too!! 😆
Becareful samui police is rude and harsh on tourist
Did she just say $40.00 for a mango smoothie?!!
No! Mango smoothies are not $40.00 🤣
Going there on your own is soooo boring.........I'd never solo the island again
🙏👍🥰🇸🇪🙏
