I came back home in mom's last 5 years and now get to clean what my sister allowed to happen for the 10 I was gone. We've worked every day since last June to 1st get the vegetable gardens going again. Then build a large greenhouse. Now we extend 2 gardens and clean the old vineyard, plant berries. Next we fell a small forest of pines and reuse them for making fence posts and vine posts. 900 blackberry and 400 raspberry plants have been lifted, separated and get planted in neat manageable rows, under planted by 12,000 strawberries. The new vineyard will hold 1200 vines in 32 rows. Dead wood has nearly all been cleared and 24 large over mature pines will be brought down and milled into boards for a barn and possibly more. Paths are all now passable and soon we begin completely redoing all the many flower and herb beds. Then we begin small projects like fences, benches, gates, arbors, small roofed stands, a few small sheds, picnic tables, an outdoor cooking complex, a small smiths foundry, outhouses, enlarge the pond, create waterfall and stream, cold frames, and more. Final touches like electrification, plumbing, fountains, statuary, 2 deer stands with small 8x8ft enclosures atop 35-40ft posts. 2 more free houses and a basement beneath for growing microgreens, sprouts and mushrooms under lights, with the nursery operations above, all solar water heated through plastic tubes. A small chicken coop, a wall of rabbit hutches, and a milk goat shed also this year. Rye, corn, tobacco, peanuts, morenga, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cabbage, nettle, and many vegetables for fresh, storage and marketing. 2 large 4x12 food storage racks full, 2 55gal barrels of sauer Krauts, a root cellar bins section, and much more. Mostly just one man, 65. Enjoying every single hour of sunrise to past sunset work outdoors. The food is phenomenal and haven't seen a grocery store since last May, saving $600/month to use better. Almost 150 different vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, herbs, roots, mushrooms, more variety than our 3 grocery stores. All non GMO, zero chemicals, heirloom seeds and stocks or native plants. Will dedicate room for growing citrus, and various tropicals, like bananas, olives, dates, figs, kiwi. Over 2500 species of plants. First to clean and reorganize and rejuvenate everything. 10 months and we've come a long way, each area moving faster and faster to completion. I feel your dilemma having to clean everything back up correctly again. Would be elbows and knees deep right there with you. Too bad mine isn't your home town or I'd say let's help each other and join businesses.

I grew up being carted between Moscow suburbs and for the summer to my grandparent's far in Kazakhstan village of Bayanaul between Pavlodar and Karaganda. This video very much reminded me of it. I've been in US for over 24 years now. My grandparents had long died, the barn that I toiled in as kid burned. The farmhouse sold to someone else and the nearby pioneer (Russian boyscout slash summer camp) lager has long been closed. It is equite eerie feeling, thinking if I came back to something like this. I can relate somewhat. I grew up on a small ranch, which has since been left vacant. And when I last returned it was overgrown and looked so much different. But honestly, it would take very little to make that land productive and beautiful again. A few goats would have that grass cleared in no time. I digress. It's not really about that. You really can't go back in time, only forward. Hold onto memories, but let go of expectations or desires to return to what was. Only strive for what could be!

😢 I can somewhat relate. The farmstead where I grew up is now owned by someone else and it's totally overgrown. I hope to be able to buy it back soon so me and my mom and brother can move back in again. Family and land is a unity that gives freedom and independence. City people often don't get this but how could one not live close to nature?

I came back home in mom's last 5 years and now get to clean what my sister allowed to happen for the 10 I was gone. We've worked every day since last June to 1st get the vegetable gardens going again. Then build a large greenhouse. Now we extend 2 gardens and clean the old vineyard, plant berries. Next we fell a small forest of pines and reuse them for making fence posts and vine posts. 900 blackberry and 400 raspberry plants have been lifted, separated and get planted in neat manageable rows, under planted by 12,000 strawberries. The new vineyard will hold 1200 vines in 32 rows. Dead wood has nearly all been cleared and 24 large over mature pines will be brought down and milled into boards for a barn and possibly more. Paths are all now passable and soon we begin completely redoing all the many flower and herb beds. Then we begin small projects like fences, benches, gates, arbors, small roofed stands, a few small sheds, picnic tables, an outdoor cooking complex, a small smiths foundry, outhouses, enlarge the pond, create waterfall and stream, cold frames, and more. Final touches like electrification, plumbing, fountains, statuary, 2 deer stands with small 8x8ft enclosures atop 35-40ft posts. 2 more free houses and a basement beneath for growing microgreens, sprouts and mushrooms under lights, with the nursery operations above, all solar water heated through plastic tubes. A small chicken coop, a wall of rabbit hutches, and a milk goat shed also this year. Rye, corn, tobacco, peanuts, morenga, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cabbage, nettle, and many vegetables for fresh, storage and marketing. 2 large 4x12 food storage racks full, 2 55gal barrels of sauer Krauts, a root cellar bins section, and much more. Mostly just one man, 65. Enjoying every single hour of sunrise to past sunset work outdoors. The food is phenomenal and haven't seen a grocery store since last May, saving $600/month to use better. Almost 150 different vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, herbs, roots, mushrooms, more variety than our 3 grocery stores. All non GMO, zero chemicals, heirloom seeds and stocks or native plants. Will dedicate room for growing citrus, and various tropicals, like bananas, olives, dates, figs, kiwi. Over 2500 species of plants. First to clean and reorganize and rejuvenate everything. 10 months and we've come a long way, each area moving faster and faster to completion. I feel your dilemma having to clean everything back up correctly again. Would be elbows and knees deep right there with you. Too bad mine isn't your home town or I'd say let's help each other and join businesses.

You should consider working on your youtube channel as your career. You already have a good head start with 80k subscribers. Pretty sure if you had continued working on youtube and providing content regularly in the past year, you would have over 200k subs by now and making good steady income. It's not too late. Try to get a video every week or 2 and get your videos registered with adsense.

I grew up being carted between Moscow suburbs and for the summer to my grandparent's far in Kazakhstan village of Bayanaul between Pavlodar and Karaganda. This video very much reminded me of it. I've been in US for over 24 years now. My grandparents had long died, the barn that I toiled in as kid burned. The farmhouse sold to someone else and the nearby pioneer (Russian boyscout slash summer camp) lager has long been closed. It is equite eerie feeling, thinking if I came back to something like this. Don't even need for dramatic piano music.

Whenever familiar places don't feel familiar anymore and what I see doesn't match my memories, I like to remember this quote from Heraclitus: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man.” The world, the land, and the people around us are always changing, always growing, always moving - and we are too. When you see all that high grass amongst the goat pen, remember, you've grown just as much as that grass has! The earth, the grass, the world, the houses, money, etc. will all grow and fade away in time and as it does, take comfort in what the Lord said, "Behold! I make all things NEW" (Revelation 21:5) and realize that tomorrow is a new day filled with growth and renewal all around us.

I can relate somewhat. I grew up on a small ranch, which has since been left vacant. And when I last returned it was overgrown and looked so much different. But honestly, it would take very little to make that land productive and beautiful again. A few goats would have that grass cleared in no time.
I digress. It's not really about that. You really can't go back in time, only forward. Hold onto memories, but let go of expectations or desires to return to what was. Only strive for what could be!

😢 I can somewhat relate. The farmstead where I grew up is now owned by someone else and it's totally overgrown. I hope to be able to buy it back soon so me and my mom and brother can move back in again. Family and land is a unity that gives freedom and independence. City people often don't get this but how could one not live close to nature?
