    All this talk about conceal carry and not one single example of the pistols being "carried". People want to see how well they hide on different body types.

    Working at a gun shop myself I see all of these in their own niches. Everyone has different opinions what they like but just for a baseline this was a pretty great list. I regularly put the Smith and Wesson line of the .380 and 9mm in women’s hands as well as the equalizer that they offer in the same family. And like he stated even men with issues racking the slide! Solid information.

    You both have great lists. This would be mine:
    1. S&W Performance Center M&P Shield Plus (it's what I shoot the best out of all the tiny pistols and what feels the best in my hands).
    2. Sig XMacro Tacops (doesn't have a comp but comes with a longer barrel, more mags, extended slide lock/release, and flared magwell)
    3. Glock 19
    4. Sig P365xl
    5. Standard S&W M&P Shield Plus
    If I get more experience or get to try the Shadow Systems or Canik offerings then my list might change.

      I wasn't impressed with the Shield, which I was quite disappointed by (I was quite excited to try it out). I went to a range with a large selection of rentals and tried this one, compared to the Walther CCP and Glock 43x and the compact Sig we tried (cant remember which one specifically), I found the shield to be quite uncomfortable for me to fire, and my wife who was shooting with me agreed.

    I carry the P320 daily but I'm definitely not child size. It's got the full size slide but I got an extra grip module and cut it down so that a 12 round mag fits flush (easier to conceal). I usually have a 21 round backup mag on me, as well. That's the advantage of the P320 chassis system. Extra or aftermarket grip modules are cheap and user replaceable unlike most other pistols. It also applies to the P365 but it's slightly harder to swap a 365 grip module (you need a tool to get a pin out where on the 320 you don't).

      Yep. With the proper round like federal hydrashok deeps or a proper grain jacketed hollow poin they do more than enough damage for self defense. Lehigh defense are also great fluid displacement is deadly and I highly recommend running +p you can get close to or above 9mm speeds with a full size barrel. I love mine and I guarantee you it'd do it's job if needed. Its not 45 or a 5.7 but it's not supposed to be. it's supposed to be a practical conceal carry gun for self defense and as long as you use the proper ammunition for it you're doing alright. Just don't use ball or something low grain use Lehigh federal or underwood. I have some Winchester silvertip 85grain jacketed hollow point that penetrate 14+inches in ballistic gel and still expand.

    Good number 1 from both of you. I just switched to the P365X Macro with a TLR7 and a Holosun green dot. Love it. You failed to mention that the 17 round magazines will fit in each of the 365 family that Sara brought out. When you purchase extra mags they come with interchangeable floor plates so you can use them on any of the 365 family.

    • @patc2515
      @patc2515 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I own the spectre comp which is the original comped slide and isnthe same thing on the x macro. I also own the original p365 and the XL.. the built in slide comp is absolutely noticeable. Its definitely not just for show. Its not meant to be a direct comparison to a thread on separate comp on the barrel like people seem to enjoy doing. For something that is not being threaded onto the barrel and adding length to its an awesome innovation. Ive left a larhe number of ppl try my different 365 models before shooting my spectre comp with the slide comp and every single person including myself said that the recoil control and the snappiness of the gun was significantly improved using the spectre comp or x macro with the slide comp. Its also easier to clean than a traditional comp. Will a real separate comp have better stats and muzzle flip reduction, yes. Of course. Does the slide comp replace traditional modern comps. No absolutely not.. is the built in slide comp and noticeable and effective alternative to the traditional thread on barrel comp? You bet! No regrets whatsoever and I'm somehow between 6 and 8k rounds down range and several completed courses using this slide comp and i really love it. I love all guns and most manufacturers too so I'm not just a sig fan boy either. Hope that helps

      @@Kennoisewater123 I feel as though the comp does help. It is a trade-off for me as I normally like threaded barrels so I can decide what to put on the end of the barrel and change it out as I feel the need. But It does improve the "snappiness". This is my first Sig. I did a lot of research to decide what to get so I could go from iron sights to a red dot (or a green dot in my case). This is what I chose - and very happy with it. Decent enough trigger too.

    I land right between the two of you on the glocks. I much prefer the glock 48 to keep the longer slide but have a narrower grip which I think helps limit printing. And with the shield arms S15 mags you still get a 15 round mag (by making it out of metal rather than polymer they can make the walls thinner and it fits the 43x/48 and is still a double stack magazine) with the option to add on a mag extension to get up to 20+1 with the 48. I've heard people question the reliability of the S15 but I've gone through over 500 rounds on mine without any issues.

    MP Shield EZ 380 vs EZ 9 mm (Because I have both and tried them)
    380 Pro: Easy to slide the rack. How much easier? By 30-50%.
    380 Con: Its more painful to pull down the tabs on the mags when reloading
    9mm Pro: A bit easier to pull down tabs on mags when reloading/less painful than 380 version
    9mm Con: Easy to slide the rack. How much easier? By 10-20%.
    I recommend going for 9mm as a guy, for women, if you can handle 9mm, I'd go with 9mm for the self-defense ammo, ease of ammo, and ease of reloading.

I did screw up and get a 10 with a pinky extension, which actually extends out to the length of a 12 and doesn't make it any more concealable, so I am trying to find the flush floorplate now. Got my MC9 last friday and I love how it feels in the hand. I haven't shot it yet but used to own the TP9SF when it came out so I have no doubt it shoots super smooth. I went in to actually buy a CZ P-10C as my carry and home defense gun but saw this in the case and knowing it was sold out everywhere, I bought it instantly.

    The best conceal top 4 pistols would have to be the mid size guns like the p365xl, VP9 SK, Glock 26 and M&P Shield 2.0. They all shoot very well for beginners.

    I bought the 365XL a couple years ago when they were still fairly new. And while I do love how easy it is to carry the slide (on mine at least) is the hardest to rack handgun I have ever used, I'd say it's around 50% more effort to pull the slide back than something like the Glock 19 and incomparable to the Shield EZ

    I have both the 365XL and the 320C and love both guns. Since the first of the year I have not been carrying due to having bariatric surgery in April and have had an 80 pound weight loss so far so I am still very weak and I also don't know how my concealability will be when I will be able to carry again is. When I was carrying last year I found that at 5'8" 280lbs, I was more comfortable carrying the 320c and shooting the 320c. Only time will tell what will happen over the next year when I hit my goal weight of 175 lbs and regain my strength. Your discussion was very interesting.

    Big difference in trigger feel with pre-cocked strikers like the Canik vs a Glock Style. I still carry my P365, but I've moved on to the CR920 for the most part. The trigger is heavier, but I do like the idea of not having a pre-cocked striker. I have a Canik Rival (not a carry) which I'm a big fan of, but when it comes to the Mete MC9 I'm a hard pass. To me that trigger is way too light with a pre cocked striker and no safety. It's nice to have a great trigger but there is more to consider than just trigger weight for your carry gun. My Shield Plus has a great trigger too, but I got it with a manual safety for piece of mind. To each their own, and it's great to have all these choices out there.

    • @RobHasman
      @RobHasman ปีที่แล้ว

      Theres two safeties on that precocked striker pistol... the trigger, and theres a safety plunger that prevents the firing pin from being able to strike the round.
      If you don't feel safe with a precocked striker style gun, you need more training on trigger discipline. No issues with the system if you are competent.
