The difference between authentic and replica in terms of price really isn't huge. As soon as you factor in any sort of adjustments needed to replica items as well as the stress and time involved it really is negligible. Perhaps if more people bought authentic, the prices would be more affordable to the masses. People don't appreciate the huge cost of R&D on a bumper like this. It's like your favourite music artist releasing a new album and instead of seeing them live you go and see a cover band because the ticket price is cheaper... Support great brands like ASM!
if an OEM bumper was similiar in cost, id agree with you.. but legit.. an oem bumper is 300-500 depending on where you get it from. is the added cost worth the benefit? my answer is no, but the aesthetic is nicer for sure.
i say it comes down to the purpose of the car. ill be one to say, when i started modding back in the day ii can only afford reps, few years later down i started buying authentic. till this day my motto comes down to the purpose. on my weekend nsx i went fully authentic on the parts that i can get my hands on. On my civic which is a daily fun car i went mainly replica.
@@realmikevitale you’ve just proved the point I made about not appreciating R&D costs. Honda made over a 100,000 S2000s worldwide so the cost of developing a bumper is swallowed up. If ASM made over 100,000 bumpers they would not cost $2,000+ each.
totally agree, the R&D that goes into developing all this stuff clearly shows in the final product. paying homage to the racing lineage and original creators is cool too. Also when it comes to cost, i think it's important to mention that i didnt pay retail for these because there some trusted resellers that import themselves and can help save you some money (i.e Formula-S in Socal)
It all depends on the build to me. Like if it’s a track car I’d spend the $$$$ on the right things like Brakes, Suspension, Tires, bushings and all that. But if it was a weekend/show car Id make sure top notch quality parts only, and oem of course too.
Justin has a similar attitude to me. Mine is a trac car so proper money is spent on brakes and suspension etc, pwrformance parts that you need to perform each and every time. A little panel gap here or there isnt of considrable significance to me. Ive had an authentic voltex front bumper on the car for 8 years now. After 50+ track days the lower lip is now toast and i just replaced it with a rep versiom. As long as the fitment is decent and it gets me back out on track im okay with that.
I will never cheap out and go for replica parts, I would rather keep it OEM then waist money trying to look authentic. I like to appreciate the development and R&D that go into different parts, do it right or don't do it at all, just my opinion on the matter. Love those ASM bumpers!
Yeah duh.... Most people can't afford it until they can. Gotta crawl B4 you walk. So just because at this stage in your life you have a little cheese doesn't mean it will always be like that. Remember this when that happens to you. Not a matter of if but when .

having a genuine bumper makes your car 10x better

I need two s2000s - one for show and one for track 😂
Shina auto definitely has the best fitment for rep parts. I bought a voltex kit from them got it in a month and fitment was 9.5/10.
thats awesome. money saved and fitment solid. cant beat that
That bumper looks amazing and that’s the exact bumper I want for mine. Good luck on the rest of the build. Love your videos!
thank you! the car is coming together slowly!
Video quality made me think this was a 100k+ channel lmao subbed
man, this comment just made the week-long editing of this video worth it. thanks, bro
damn man. Didn't know you had crashed. Sorry to hear that but glad you are ok
yup, huge bummer but we're all good here. thank you!
Great video!! Keep going :)
thank you!
Man that looks awesome. Would love to get some ASM stuff.

im already having anxiety about my ASM front lip 😂

Great video man!
Appreciate it!
Having replica parts on my project cars defeats the whole purpose of being proud of my build.
ASM for the win
💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
when ur chasing minutes reps dont matter but when ur chasing seconds it does
💯
Bring back UP TO SPEED!!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Replica bumpers tend to weigh a lot moee than authentic
good point, ill have to remember to weigh the bumpers next time
Authentic is always worth it just as long as you dont break it lol.
facts, like how you blew up your old racebred splitter 🤣
Its like rocking fake jordans.
😂😂😂
i like fake stuff, ask my dear wife
🤣
If you worry about it, means you can’t afford it in the first place.
